I am publishing with Ingram Content a hardcover "Brave New Mars" science fiction novel about Fascistic Corpocracy on Mars in 2084. I learned their publishing/distributing service is a no-win program for their authors.
While formatting my book with them, their customer service could not clearly explain what technical settings their external printing service required.
Their final hardcover product is quite nice looking, thanks to my doggedness to do it well.
The worst thing about Ingram is that they conceal what a big percentage they are going to extract out of what the blanket term of "wholesale discount."
My local bookstore wouldn't order my book because Ingram was only offering them a 10% wholesale discount! I know it's true because the store copied me the Ingram email that quoted 10%.
I had told Ingram to offer 35% discount but they never said they were going to skim a 25% fee from that discount. They hid it. They concealed that information and would not even admit how big it was when I afterward emailed their "customer service" to give me the facts. They call it "proprietory information."
Upshot is, you can't attract any retail bookstores if you go through Ingram Content company. You'll have to buy, ship and sell them yourself to make a few bucks profit. Proof that I wrote the novel Brave New Mars is at allenmeece.com

I ENDURED 8 MONTHS OF HELL OF THE MOST IRRESPONSIBLE, PERVERTED DRAMA CAUSING MANAGER IMAGINABLE. I GOT PTSD FROM THIS PLACE. THEY BASICALLY TRIED TO BULLY ME TO QUIT AND WOULD NOT STOP HARASSING ME. THE COMPANY IS SO BAD BEYOND WORDS. HOW DO YOU HIRE HR AND MANAGERS THIS BAD?
