We had a pipe break on April 8th 2023. We hired Peterman Brothers to fix the problem. We were initially given an estimate of $3,000-$6,000. They came and started work. We were then given an estimate of $32,000 because of issues with the concrete slab and septic system. We felt like we didn't have a choice and agreed, high pressure sales. They came in and tore up concrete in the bathrooms, hallway, family room and master bedroom. They turned off the water, took out the tub, toilet, sink and tore out walls and then left, but before they left they demanded payment in full - I refused. They didn't cover the holes and we have a special needs child and specifically asked that they not leave open holes. We had to go out that night and buy planking to cover the holes. We had to get a Port-A-Potty to use for a bathroom. We had no toilet, bathtub or shower, and we couldn't do laundry or dishes. After many phone calls and messages they finally came back a month later and did a little work and left again. The "project manager" never answered calls, his voice mail was always full and customer service couldn't find our account most of the time, so there was no help getting this resolved. We were told many times that they would be there on a certain day to continue work. We took off work to be there and they didn't show up, again and again that happened. We would call and they would say they didn't have parts, then call and were told by someone else that the parts were in stock and they would come out, then again later told they didn't have parts again. We would set up days for them to come out and then again they wouldn't show and didn't call to tell us that they weren't coming, leaving us taking off work and nothing being accomplished. They lied to us, ghosted us, and put a family of five in substandard living conditions for months. One time we called and the customer service person said that she would email everyone and see if she could get something done, but if we didn't get a call by the next day then we shouldn't expect one...basically telling us that they probably wouldn't be completing the job. They came back and did install the tub, but it was the wrong size and they had to go out and buy another one. Then they left again and ghosted us again for 22 days. Then out of the blue they showed up, but started yelling at us because we still had planking on the floor covering the holes and hadn't moved the mattresses off the floor so they could work. We didn't even know that they were coming. It is now July 2023 and we had to bring in another company to complete the work. We will be getting city sewer in 6 more months and we told Peterman that. The new company we now have said for the amount of money we were charged they could have had us ready for sewer hook up while fixing the pipe, but now we will have to pay for that work in six months when we get sewer. We also found out that when they cut the concrete they caused a crack that runs so close to the outer wall of the master bedroom and that we are now going to have to remove the wall and repour our concrete slab. Another $30,000 - $50,000 in cost for their negligence. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! BEWARE! They will sell you hard, ghost you and not do the job.
