I ordered a kit from Hobbylinc's "solid-hull wooden ship" section of their online catalog, but was sent a different kind (not solid-hull) of model. They refused to allow a return of the unopened package. I am stuck with an expensive product that i cannot use. Don't trust their claim that they will accept return of unopened boxes.
Found them online searching for paints when I couldn't go to the store. Their selection is amazing and the prices are better than any other store, including big name retailers, that I could buy online.
I have shopped with HobbyLinc multiple times since and plan to keep buying my model supplies from them.
I have been a loyal costumer of this company for so many years but it also has gone worse by the years as a costumer service, stock items and variety of those.
I did place an order for some kits about 8 months ago but items just became available now, well, price has changed to higher and they wont honor the original price by not fulfilling the last 2 items from my large order. This company has lost one more costumer, me. I will take my business some place else.
I'm starting to order models from them, which upon opening a package, we had 10s of 10s of ants coming out of the box. My wife goes to break down the box and another bunch of ant came out. Now we might have to get someone in here to spray.
I'm a full time model builder; I purchase about 1K per month in all manner of hobby supplies ranging from paint and scratchbuilding supplies to kits. Hobbylinc is at the bottom but they do carry a few items I can't get elsewhere so I am stuck.
Shipping speed is slow. They take on average a full week to get your order processed; most others get it done in two to three days tops.
They use the cheapest shipping option which means you can add at least another week to the shipping, i. E. two weeks.
Their packaging leaves much to be desired; I got my 24 inch styrene shapes sent to me in an 18 inch box; they bent the styrene into a horseshoe to fit the box!
I use Scalehobbyist, Sprue brothers, Modeltrainstuff and Trainworld first; I only go to Hobbylinc as a last resort, mostly because of the shipping issues.
Hobbylinc takes a ridiculously long time simply to place your order in the mail. If you order from them, be prepared for an unnecessarily long wait.
They have some things that the others don't. That's when I pull the trigger. Their point system is a plus.
Down part is that things don't move until about a week. Then you have a delivery wait. Too slow.
It's the 2nd time I ordered paint and found myself in a hobby shop and getting it.
This site has probably the best prices around. 20-30% cheaper than Amazon across the board. The problem is the service. It's a family run business so don't expect your order any time soon. I ordered on 5/23. They anticipate the order will leave their promises on 5/28 which is 5 days (still long), but it actually didn't leave until June 1. I emailed them asking about my order through their website and got no response. Luckily my order didn't take long to arrive after it was shipped. Bottom line is if time is a factor don't order from here, if you don't care about when u get it then this is your best bag for your buck!
Very disappointing ordered product Dec 15 apparently on back order that's fine haven't heard a thing back to date although my charges have gone through customer service not the greatest don't know if I will use hobbylinc again
I've been buying from Hobbylinc for many years and have always found their prices hard to beat. My only negative comment is that from order to their shipping date can take days. Maybe they should hire more help in the shipping dept.
Prices are good, the selection is huge and impressive, shipping prices are in line with industry standards, but i have put off ordering because ive read reviews that say actually receiving your items takes forever, granted its only been a week but im told at least three more days to receive some 1/72 troops, Atlanta to Des Moines doesnt seem like that far, if you want your order QUICK try Mega Hobby in New Jersey, shipping is a little more but its worth a few bucks to get my package in at most 4-5 days, also Burbank House of Hobbys is not quite as fast but close, and better rates
I ordered an airbrush needle which is very thin. The item was shipped in a bubble lined envelope. Not surprisingly this thin bendable metal rod came to me bent. I requested an RMA which was approved. However, I was never emailed that it was approved. I had to find out by going back to my order status and stumbling on a new link after wondering about it for a few days.
I then found that I am supposed to pay to ship this thing back for RMA. I requested through support email (good luck finding a number to call anyone) that Hobbylinc pay for the shipping. I still have not had any reply from their support email contact.
After ordering my airbrush and assorted supplies originally from this site I am very disappointed that I can't use them again in the future.
I recommend you stay clear of this vendor.
I have had several orders from Hobbylinc. My husband likes to do paint by numbers and has trouble finding ones he has not done Hobbylinc has more choices. All the orders I have received have be exactly as ordered. My only warning is do not wait too long to order, since it is a small company, It takes a while to get to you.
The next best thing to actually owning your very own muscle car, is building one from Hobbylinc.com. They have everything you need under the sun to build a replica muscle car to the exact specifications. You just got yourself a brand new, life long customer.
Do you want a place to get all of the hobby stuff anyone could ever want? And, get it all for a fair price? Well, here it is! Of course, it can't have all the different hobbies covered, but if you're looking for most, I assure you that you can find it here! Whether it be model rockets, trains, arts and crafts, painting, books, brewing, paints yada, yada, yada, this is a "must visit" site.
As I stated earlier, their prices are cheaper than anywhere that I've found overall. Delivery is prompt and reasonable.
If you're not careful, you'll not only find what you need for your present hobbies, but you'll probably find stuff for a few new hobbies too!
I'm very impressed with Hobbylinc customer service. My order was lost in the mail and even though Hobbylinc wasn't obligated to replace the item they sent me another kit anyway. They'll be getting all of my business in the future.
I emailed them to complain about the time it takes for them to ship an order. This is the response I got "As we have clearly listed on every item on our entire site, most products take 1-4 business days to ship. This is how our warehouse is set up. This is part of how we keep our prices low and vast selection of products available. We apologize for the inconvenience. We are not Amazon, we are Hobbylinc.com. If Amazon is more satisfying, we encourage all consumers to shop where they are happy, even if that is not with us.
We do our best to keep the prices low, but with this, our departure times tend to be a day or 2 behind some other vendors. Thank you and we appreciate your business."
This was my first and last order with them. Not to mention I will refuse delivery on my order when it arrives. I refuse to do business that could care less about it's customers.
I am a very satisfied customer and happy to give my rating. Every time I have placed an order and received it, even when the USPS is not so kind with the delivery of a package, Hobbylinc has proven to be there with care, kindness, concern and service to make me a satisfied customer. Even when USPS doesn't deliver, Hobbylinc does. Hobbylinc is a 150% Company earning the best rating possible and more. Thank You for your care and hard work.
Daniel, a satisfied returning customer.
I ordered a model stagecoach for $180.53 which was paid by credit card. They delivered it to THEIR OWN address but said it was delivered to me. After several messages sent to them, they have refused to answer. I have read 2 other complaints stating the same thing. This is the worst ripoff company I have ever dealt with
I went to the hobby line web site found the truck my son was wanting for Christmas and it said in stock so I bought it. The next day I received a email from hobby line that said my truck was on back order until mid January. So I called and the customer service person was nice I expressed my displeasure and asked for another truck the same price range or above and then they were no help they said they would not charge my card until it was shipped so I asked to cancel my order. Then I looked at my account and they did charge my account and now 3 days later I'm waiting on a refund still. I will never use this hobby company ever again and I will tell everyone I know not to use it thank you
Answer: I have ordered from Hobbylinc.com for a few years now and never had a problem. Prices are very good, shipping is very reasonable & they pack your purchases VERY WELL! While they may not be the largest on-line hobby retailer they are certainly one of my go-to sites for plastic model kits & supplies!
Answer: If you have a complaint, they refuse to respond. So I found out that it is impossible to get any correspondence with HobbylinC
Answer: My experience is that it is a total scam. They take the payment but will not ship the item or offer any refund
Hobbylinc has a rating of 3 stars from 76 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Hobbylinc ranks 11th among Toys Store sites.
