I signed up as a client and got a poorly written article. I rejected it and tried to get a refund of the money I deposited into my account. Guess what they did? They suspended my account and ignored my refund request. I've opened a PayPal dispute and I'm currently trying to get my money back. I wish I could give this disgusting writing service a 0.001 star.
I've been writing for HireWriters for years. Lately, it seems that their clients are mainly shady and have found a way to beat the system, essentially STEALING your work while refusing to pay. I recently wrote an amazing article. Did my research, went above and beyond and completed the task assigned, even though it was clear from the poorly written instructions that the client doesn't speak English.
I wrote the article. It passed copyscape (which checks work to ensure that it is original and not plagiarizes) and submitted it to the client.
Once I submitted the article for the client to read and review, the client requested a mutual cancellation without payment. I sent the client a message saying that I would be happy to make any revisions to my work to suit their style. When they didn't get back to me, I attempted to submit my original piece again.
HOWEVER, the second time I went to submit my ORIGINAL work, it did not pass the copyscape test. I had changed absolutely nothing about the piece.
The client had already posted my work online and then canceled the job request. They stole my work without paying me for it. I attempted 5+ times to contact HireWriters to make them aware of this and never received any sort of reply back whatsoever. I'm disgusted by this business practice. My work was stolen.
I have been writing for hirewriters occasionally for the past several months. I haven't had any issues with payment and my work usually gets approved, although admittedly the clients don't seem to have any idea what they're actually asking of writers. Most of the time you're dealing with people who list their projects at $2-$5 for 700 words (which is already way below market price) and then open their projects to read through the details and they actually want 1500 words and an absurd amount of research and effort. Bottom line is, don't expect people to write your content if you aren't willing to pay for it. It's honestly insulting.
If the pay were better, this site wouldn't be half bad. There are some interesting articles listed on the job board on any given day. Brandon and Ruby Dale (the owners) need to raise the asking prices or lose their good writers. I guess they don't care what we're making because they don't actually have to do anything to get paid. They just sit back and take a percentage of our wages. I would say, "Must be nice," but if I did what they do, it would weigh on my conscience.
Too many people request such ridiculous amounts of work for such a pitiful pay. I have seen assignments that require a lot of research, a certain format, a minimum of several hundred words or more, but only want to pay you five dollars for your efforts. How about no. Not to mention, there is also a lot of snarky instructions on some of these assignments. "Don't waste my time!" "I will not accept your basic work." Urgh. I think they supposed "skill set" needs to be revamped and the payments need to actually match the writer's skills. I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but I've been published in the New York Times. I know my writing is good. I'm worth more than four dollars for two thousand words.
It's no wonder a lot of the people on here complain about the writers not being so great. Maybe they just want to be paid a decent wage for their work. If you pay somebody minimum wages, you should expect minimum results. I'm not going to break my back for four dollars and I don't expect anybody else to either.
I gave this site a chance and tried 5 different writers. Despite their website claiming native English speakers it was clear that most of the writers were not. Awful grammar, fluff content and simply unusable content. After giving it a fair chance I decided I needed to refund my balance and move on. Their checkout did advertise "satisfaction guarantee" and their terms said they can refund unused balances within a certain period, which I was still in. 3 requests were sent asking to get a refund and all requests were ignored. I contacted them on facebook and they told me to submit a support request claiming they couldn't help me. Nothing but a scam company. Buyer beware!
I wrote a couple of articles for clients through this website. When I finally reached the amount to be paid, HireWriters claims I had two accounts and this was not allowed and so they refused to pay me. I have no idea what they were talking about. I only had one account. I'm not sure how they claim I had two accounts and therefore couldn't pay me. I asked to see the other account name which I did not recognize. Their mistake cost me my money and I am still baffled about it. I would not recommend this company at all. I would give them a minus star rating.
My biggest problem is how many people request a ridiculous article that involves hours and hours of research, they have extremely picky guidelines, they are even condescending in their instructions for the article "I will not accept your basic work. I don't have time to fix your transitional phrases and subheadings... must be over 1500 words... take your time to do the research"... and offer $4. Uhhmm... you expect what now?
Although I don't write for them anymore, I noted a rise in the number of clients who are after getting articles for free. Two days after submitting, a client tends to complain about the work to the extent of rejecting or requesting for a mutual cancelation.
Once you ask him whether you can post the article, he tends to refuse and even requests for some modifications so that he can decide whether to accept it.
So, why on earth should a client request you to send the rejected article for him to accept after a threat of posting it?
I think that the Hirewriters team should turn an eye on the clients, more importantly, those who post the jobs but do not have any changes in the acceptance or rejection rates. Such clients opt to send mutual cancellations instead of rejecting the work, but you will later find a declined article published after some months.
Id give less than 1 start if I could... hired a expert writer for the job and what I got back was littered with grammar errors and something could of been written by a 12 year old. Didn't follow any of the instructions and honestly sounded like it was written by an Indian guy abroad just from the sheer unfamiliarity to certain phrases within the article and how he was using them. Since then I have tried to get a refund from hirewriters as I'm not spending a dime on this company and conveniently they wont reply to the emails.
DONT RISK IT... its BS
When I first registered on the website I could hardly find any articles that were the "beginner" category. After few months I came back and started writing. Two days later I was on "skilled" level and had $30 on my account and it was close to Friday (when freelancer get paid through PayPal). The next morning when I went on the website, my account was frozen and guess what? I didn't get paid!
Not only the support didn't tell me any reason (apparently they can't), but I did not receive my money, no matter how many times I've tried to get it back.
Just don't do it! There are many websites which actually have contract and a support that doesn't steal your money!
Not sure what all the fuss is about. I've worked part-time on HireWriters since late 2015 and have nothing but good things to say about them. Plenty of work, rates are alright, but most importantly payouts are reliable and consistent. Some clients are bad, but you get that anywhere and in any business. Nowadays most of my work is done through private clients but we continue to use the site as a good platform to ensure quality of work delivered, lack of plagiarism, and on my end, prompt payment of an agreed-upon sum (plus maybe a tip).
I'm not directly affiliated with the site in any way, and this review is only my own, voluntary, unpaid opinion, and I gain nothing by posting this. Is the site getting review bombed? Three negative reviews that are absolutely not my experience, hmm...
There are a number of freelance writing platforms now, but the one place where clients are unprofessional, and where the potential to lose money is evident, is on this site. I don't know if the company takes money from employees by saying the customer refused the work you did, or if clients just get away with a lot more on this site than any other freelance site. If you want to work for this company, don't take a job over $5 and don't do "too" much work---to everyone this will be different. Don't take any high-priced jobs as a new writer---you are almost sure not to get paid for it. Take small jobs, under $5 and, before you start, ask yourself how much you are willing to lose. I decided I would not earn more than $50, wait to see if I got paid, and then try it again the next week. Also, if you do have a problem with not getting paid, the "support" at HireWriters is the equivalent of breasts on a bull----completely useless. Essentially they will take your money, or let clients take your money, and offer you absolutely no recourse, so don't take the $20 article bait---that should be a glaringly obvious caveat that you will *never* get paid. Proceed cautiously and carry a big stick!
First and foremost, I would like to appreciate Hirewriters for providing a platform where clients can meet writers.
However, my disappointment with this site is the frequent ban or talented writers. I got content from the site severally, and after locating two writers and adding them to my favorite writer's list, I couldn't find their names after some time. That is quite disappointing since it takes much time to locate a talented writer and banning writers with a lot of positive reviews doesn't make sense.
My advice to clients is that you try and locate great writers and contact them in person so that you can create your pool of favorite writers. Otherwise, you will get disappointed if you rely on the writers by using the Hirewriters account.
You can make money on this page, but they are dishonest. I got docked for a late assignment that should have been removed, and they took some of my money because of it. The person that booked me wanted to cancel the project and they did not take it off. They also charge a "payment processing fee" where they take a cut of your payment. This is never mentioned in any of the literature. It does not appear on the FAQ. You are working for peanuts, and then they steal extra money from you as well.
I hire a skilled writer to rewrite an article and they just write whatever they want without following the instructions that I provide. Avoid this site at all cost.
Avoid this company, Brandon the owner does not return any balance outstanding in your account he keeps it! Be warned!. The writing I have had from 3 writers has been terrible, I have had to send multiple reminders and content samples of what I'm looking for. In the end I have re written the articles myself and wasted hours trying to get people to do it for me. What a terrible service avoid if you value your time and money!
Hirewriters is an account run by two idiots Ruby Dale and Brandon who keep on stealing writers cash just when it's time to pay them. Brandon Harris is the worst, and I just think he uses that cash to buy cheap liquor during the weekend. Don't believe it? Check out his profile at http://www.interestingarticles.com/author/brandon-harris/1/1. HE'S A DRUNK THIEVE, WHO STEALS PETTY CASH! KEEP OFF HIS SITE!
I had purchased one article from HireWriters and instead the writer submitted the half article and sent for a review, since I was travelling I was unable to check, therefore it was auto accepted. When I wrote back to hirewriters they insisted on getting back to the writer, I got back to the writer and it turned out to be a scam.
I wrote back to Hirewriters but I did not get any response, infact I didn't even get my refund as I had deposited some more money into the account planning a long term goal.
Please stay away from such online scammers and its a big scam industry.
The quality of half written article was pathetic.
Hirewriters is not a scam, just hope you get a good client. If you run into a bad client they have to power to shut you down, with bad reviews of good work. As long as you have 10 dollars in your account, they MAY pay on Friday, they are often late. Definitely give it a try and start to earn more and more, as your rank gets higher and higher.
I don't think I'd recommend this site since they could just hold back your payment at times, with no good reason. There's this time I made hundreds of dollars, then they just froze my account accusing me of fraud. Who does that? Do you want to keep on locking writers out of their accounts once they've made decent cash from their hard work? That isn't fair at all.
Answer: It is legit, but they would suspend your account for no reason. Don't do it. They will never return your money.
Answer: Your hire writer account will be frozen if you violate their term of service. This include exchanging contact with clients, Submitting plagiarized content and having too many complaints from clients
Answer: Yes, it is true that writers account get banned. But I don't think it is for no reason. My account was also frozen at some point because of copyscape issues but i explained to their support team what caused the problem and they opened my account. If you feel that you have been locked out of your account unfairly, contact their support team and raise your concerns. They are very understanding and if they see merit, the they will open your account
