Guard looks way nicer than any other plastic thing I've seen.
They are fairly easy to install, except where minor adjustment need bye done, like corners, where downspouts go into other gutters. I like the idea of silicone for the joints where the overlaps occur. I found the use of a Electric Mitre chop saw for the experienced installer. You can use a chop saw, BUT VERY SLOWLY THRU THE ALLUMINUM EDGES. DO NOT TRY TO CUT JUST THE Aluminum EDGES, BECAUSE IT WILL PULL TH WHOLE PEICE THROUGH WHERE YOU DO NOT WANT TO CUT. INSTEAD, mark with a marker where you need a cut and try a sharp chisel that you have laying around and chop thru the aluminum pieces then cut the screening away from the aluminum. I found the chisel method useful for cutting the screen with a board underneath it( had to cut a downspout piece going into another lower gutter). I have not had the experience of finishing my project, as I am half way thru my install and not gone thru seasons. As far as ice and Snow... I have had cover less gutters, covered gutters an the coverless gutters froze entirely with ICE. The covered gutters had ice Dams and I even had deicing cables- two different sets. They either went bad or only worked a short period of time. THERE is No foolproof gutter covers. THESE WILL KEEP ME FROM CLEANING OUT THE GUTTERS AND GOING UP ON A LADDER. LIKE I said there is not a foolproof solution to water freeze, that's what SNOW( water) does in winter.
