My name is DJ Sizzle (@thedjsizzle on instagram) and I'm a professional DJ from Toronto, Canada. I have been using Gigsalad for a few years now and it has helped me so much! As an independent artist from the city, it's really a cutthroat industry to become financially stable while pursuing your passion. Gigsalad has been the solution that many struggling artists and entertainers have been desperately looking for. I have not only received gigs from this website but I have gotten the opportunity to foster some amazing relationships with professionals in all sorts of industries. I have gotten the chance to perform for events and venues that I didn't think was possible. Some of these events include performing for the Deputy Prime Minister of Egypt & Uganda, deejaying for the Canadian Society of Cinematographers (where even Drake was nominated for best music video), spinning at countless lounges and businesses in the heart of the city, getting booked for multiple weddings of all cultures, getting bookings outside of the city, birthday parties, etc. Being able to maintain a consistent 5-star rating for my services to be able to attract even more potential clients including how user-friendly the site is, with email and text notifications every time you land a gig and many more features to help your exposure is what makes Gigsalad truly stand out from their competitors! This site helps you as an individual understand the market better and as a result you have a better understanding of how to leverage your business. They also give you lots of advice and guidance on the website itself on how to maximize all aspects of your business to gain the most leads possible from their website and from your external sources as well. You can use it for free (without subscription) and still book gigs as well as communicate with potential clients but paying for the subscription is so much more worth it with higher profile exposure, ability to be a Top Performer, receive higher paid deposits, contact information revealed of the client after one response so you have a higher chance of closing a potential booking by calling them to pitch your services, being able to add more pictures and videos to your profile to make your promo kit stand out and look more attractive which are all active contributors as to how quickly you can make your money back that you spent on the subscription which makes this website so genius for both the platform and the vendor. I can't thank the Gigsalad team enough and Austin as well for having exceptional customer service on top of everything else that I mentioned. If you're an artist or entertainer of any kind (and I mean any, they have such a wide range of entertainers on their site) Gigsalad should be your go-to site to use to not only get bookings but to also elevate your own brand. Nothing but positive things to say about Gigsalad and I would recommend it to anyone looking to promote their services and find some work. If I can be an ambassador for this company or represent it in a better way, I would do so without hesitation! I appreciate all the amazing people that created this website and I want you to know you are truly helping people live their passion so keep doing your thing and it will pay off for each and everyone of you I promise, thank you.
Gigsalad is the best.
This is a service website I am writing a review on.
I had recently hired an company that advertised themselves on Gigsalad as a event services company. They promised me 2 wait staff and 1 bartender with specifics to whom would be attending with names and custom uniform sizes for my branded clothing to wear at my event. At the time of the event, the staff that I was promised did not show up except for one and that person had to change roles from wait staff to bartender last minute and didn't have any tool to do the job. The 2 fill-in wait staff came late and under dressed for the event and I had to purchase them plain uniforms last minute due to the event company "About Last Night" not communicating with them clearly. ALN had told the fill-in staff that uniforms would be provided at the event space, which was a lie since the uniforms as previously discussed were custom to the original staff they had promised and could not be used. During this time, "About Last Night" had not bothered to reach out to me to inform me of the situation so I was left to sort out everything during the event which affected the event negatively. They came ungroomed and didn't have the basic understanding of how to serve or prepare the food. I had to plate everything myself and the food was under cooked. When speaking to them afterwards, they had told me that "About Last Night" had called them the morning of and that it was their first day and they had no experience at all. "ABOUT LAST NIGHT" said they only received the last minute change 1 hour before the event which is also a LIE since the time to find new staff, New staff having time to clean up and get ready, and the travel time it took the new staff to get to the event location by public transit would take them at least 2hr 30min approx. Throughout the evening they had to be walked through every step and still made massive mistakes. Realizing afterwards that "About Last Night" tried to avoid Gigsalad's "Worry-Free Guarantee" by sending 2 able bodies to fill-in just so they can say they provided 2 servers and 1 bartender as agreed. BEWARE!
When emailing Gigsalad the details of the issues and that "ABOUT LAST NIGHT" did NOT provide what was agreed upon, they completely disregarded all of it and took the vendors side saying, "However, we do not manage, endorse, or sanction the vendors on GigSalad. Our Worry-Free Guarantee only covers refunds in the event of a no-show or a vendor cancellation; we do not consider the quality of service during disputes."
Since "About Last Night" had promised me that the staff would have their FOOD HANDLERS LICENCE, I had requested that the funds that they have held at the time that I had paid the invoice prior to the event to be held until the supervisor was back in the office and available to speak with me regarding this PENDING dispute. They then pushed the availability date of the supervisor, saying they would be out of the office until Dec. 4th which is a contradiction to the previous employee telling me that they are away and will be back on Monday Nov. 27th. Another person in the Gigsalad disputes team reached out and told me that they paid "About Last Night" the remaining balance that they held this morning (Nov. 27th). Totally avoiding any responsibility nor accountability for the the valid issues presented to them, Gigsalad supervisor avoids you, and their "WORRY FREE GUARANTEE" is a joke and there is a MASSIVE GREY AREA which "ABOUT LAST NIGHT" and "GIGSALAD" seem so take advantage of and condone. On top of that "About Last Night" messaged me several hours after the event telling me that I owe more money. They completely avoided providing me with the FOOD HANDLER LICENCE for the fill-in wait staff and in my opinion "ABOUT LAST NIGHT" has breached the agreed contract, and GIGSALAD stands behind them.
If you do hire a service off this platform and you have any issues, Gigsalad will tell you that you can leave a REVIEW! What a joke...
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GIGSALAD TO ANYONE! BUYER BEWARE!
Also, I believe that since they are based in the States they are not a good fit to supply Canadians.
My wedding was first scheduled for June of 2019. Due to family reasons, we had to postpone until April of 2020. I hired this service in January of 2020, but due to the pandemic closures and gathering limitations designated by the state, my wedding, unfortunately, had to be indefinitely postponed and potentially canceled because of the uncertainly of when the pandemic would end and wanting to make sure we could celebrate safely. The following August (2020) we finally felt comfortable rescheduling the wedding for April of this year (2021).
Planning a wedding is one of the most stressful things any adult goes through during a normal year, let alone during a pandemic. With every rescheduling, I've had to make and send out new invitations, re-purchase any perishable goods like Jordan almonds, go in for fittings to make sure my dress still fit, re-schedule every other service hired such as the florist, etc. Throughout all of this, I was forced to reduce my hours to work part-time and I had best friends that passed away from the virus. I don't have to remind anyone what an awful time this been for so many of us.
In February Texas experienced a catastrophic winter storm. Like millions in the state, my family and I are now dealing with thousands of dollars worth of damage to our home on top of the stress we experienced during that week. At the end of it, I received a call from my wedding planner letting us know that the venue was completely flooded and would need extensive repairs to the damage caused by the storm. They gave us their sincerest apologies and offered a complete refund, not knowing how long the repairs would take or when we could reschedule the wedding too.
At this point, I decided I couldn't keep doing this and we needed to officially cancel the wedding. I've spent the last 3 weeks calling all of the vendors and services we had hired who stuck with us through the whole thing and explained to them the news and our decision not to move forward with the wedding. They all expressed their sympathy and understanding and were able to return most deposits I had put down.
When I contacted the vendor to let her know that I was canceling the service booked through GigSalad, I was shocked to be met with insensitivity and complete disinterest in our situation, and what I'm sure is the situation of so many other people. The vendor refused to return my deposit and repeatedly stated that the details were in the contract that was signed prior to this natural disaster that we had no warning of. She refused to budge and stated, "None of us want this to happen so I hope you will share your understanding with us." I don't know what to do with a message like that, since I received no understanding myself. Also, she said she could have book someone else for that day, even when we all know gathering was prohibited and also I sent my notice in February and the booked day was for June 26, so she has plenty of time to get a client for that day.
Almost no one has made it through the last year unscathed and the only way for us to get through it is to treat each other with kindness, humanity, and a helping hand. I can say for certain that they don't agree with that sentiment, and even if the most horrible thing you can think of happens to you that would cause you to postpone or cancel your event, they will not care. Read your contracts carefully and make sure you're okay with losing your deposit even if the worst happens.
"I wrote a review for everyone to know this but GigSalad canceled my review and then I contacted them the answer was that my review would not be posted because I didn't use the service."
Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry that some of you have had problems with their web site but out of all the web sites I tried, they are the best for me. I already had bad experiences with Gigmasters and because one of their customers hired me as a DJ and my web page over there stated I was mostly an EDM DJ. Apparently, the customer did not read that fact which was in big bold letters. After I started the music the party host said "This is not good" and after the gig I got poor ratings and that ruined it for me on that web site. I did not get any more gigs so I dropped that site like a hot potato.
Now for the good news. I started out with gigsalad using the free account doing balloon twisting. I started to get gigs and I asked for review when each gig was over. I used some of the money I made from the gigs to upgrade to the "Pro" membership level and got more gigs. Later, I used money form the gigs to upgrade to the "Featured" level. Now I have achieved "Top Performer" status with them and I currently have 126 reviews. I think I may have the most reviews on their site. Anyway, for me they are the best source of income and they are worth all the money I put into the membership levels because it pays for itself with the profits I get from my gigs.
