Bait & Switch
September 22, 2025

Bait and Switch! Don't trust these people. I was given a quote of $68. Based on the condition I said my iPad was in. Once they inspected it, they said they would give me $48. Due to noticeable scratches on the screen. I told them, they were no scratches on the screen. Camille offered to see if she could get pictures of the screen. After 2 days with no photos, I told her I wanted my iPad back. It was shipped back to me and when I received it, indeed there were NO scratches anywhere. I was dumb and sent it to them in the original box with the original charger. I did not receive the box or charger back. When I contacted "Camille", I was told that they responsibly recycled those. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!

Scammed
November 11, 2024

I recently attempted to sell my OnePlus Open to GadgetGone and opted for their expedited processing and insurance, totaling $32 on top of my initial $741 payment, which would leave me with $709.

When I tried to ship my phone, USPS informed me of restrictions on lithium-ion batteries. GadgetGone provided inadequate labels, forcing me to spend an additional $25. Their customer service is frustratingly limited to email and a support tab, with no phone contact. Responses were slow, often arriving late at night despite their business hours being from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM MST.

I sent detailed images of my phone, which was in immaculate condition after recent service from OnePlus. My phone arrived at GadgetGone on a Friday, but I received no confirmation until Monday, just vague responses without real answers to my questions.

To my dismay, I was offered a revised payout of $627—a substantial drop from the original offer—due to alleged "moderate scratching" that did not exist. After processing fees, my final amount was just $608.25, leaving me out $132.75.

While I could have walked away, the lack of ethical business practices and transparency from GadgetGone has left me feeling scammed. I urge others to consider alternative options when selling their devices, as their guarantees are meaningless and their practices questionable at best.

Be wary of their "heavy scratching" scam
June 21, 2024

I have seen many anecdotal reports of people reporting shady experiences with selling a device to Gadget Gone despite overall good reviews out there. I just wanted to add my experience as something very fishy is going on with them.Normally instant offer places like this give you a much lower offer than you'd get selling a used device yourself using something like Swappa.com. I was lured in by Gadget Gone by an amazing offer on my good condition phone. They offered me an instant $292 for my phone, the same price or better that I would have gotten if I'd gone through the hassle of selling it myself on Swappa. Tempted by not having to deal with creating a Swappa post, taking photos, paying a seller fee, postage, etc - I took the lazy way out and accepted their offer. Big mistake.
I am no stranger to selling used phones online. I am a phone reseller myself and am very protective of my seller rating on places like Swappa and eBay. So I am always very careful to appropriately grade the condition of my devices. Before offering my phone to Gadget Gone, I inspected my phone thoroughly to make sure it met their standards for "good condition". The one thing I did not do, however, was take any photos of the phone. The whole reason I went with an instant buyer like Gadget Gone was to avoid having to worry about all that (this is what I get for being lazy, I know).
Anyways, I send my phone in to Gadget Gone and about a week later I get an email saying that my phone has "heavy scratching" and they are now only offering me $175 for the phone. They sent me photos of a phone with scratches and sure enough - there were heavy scratches as if someone took a hard object and scratched back and forth on the screen. These scratches would have been perfectly obvious to me when inspecting and certainly would have been felt when using the device. They were not there when I mailed the phone in. Like I said, I failed to take any photos of my device before sending it in, so I had nothing to argue with. They offered to send the phone back to me - but the phone was no longer in the condition I sent it in. I also have no proof that the phone they sent me photos of was actually my phone. They sent a photo of the "About Phone" page showing the IMEI number of my phone, but with the screen on like that the scratches were not visible. It is entirely possible they sent me a photo of my phone's "About Phone" page and then photos of a different, scratched phone.
So please continue to listen to the stories of this shady company. I highly suggest you go elsewhere. Or, if you do sell your phone to them - take photos first. I will say I did ultimately receive payment - far, far less than originally promised.

I sold an iphone 12pro, iphone 11 and an iphone 7plus. The process was very simple and they are there to help you throughout the process. The original amounts were lowered but in the end I still feel that I received more with them than I would have with other companies.

Hi Christopher,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and I am very sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction. I took a look at your order details which noted that you would be sending in a flawless condition Galaxy Fold that was locked to AT&T. We note on our website that our flawless condition category is reserved for items without any sign of wear that can be seen with the naked eye and that it must not have any financial obligation to its carrier. We, unfortunately, re-quoted your order after it arrived at our office because it had not been paid off yet with AT&T and is still financed by the carrier. Additionally, your device did have a few scratches on the screen that could be felt when touched.

After quoting you to your new value, our team at no point told you that you needed to negotiate your value. We offer free returns as a guarantee for all customers if they are not satisfied with their experience for any reason. However, your order liaison did want to make sure she was going the extra mile and spoke with our eCommerce pricing analysts upon receiving emails noting your dissatisfaction to see if she could provide you with a higher value in the interest of your satisfaction. After receiving your reply that you would prefer to have your order returned, we promptly arranged for a return and will follow up again shortly with your tracking number.

I am very sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction and our team looks forward to assisting you further with your return. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to us at support@gadgetgone.com for assistance.

Thank you,
GadgetGone support team

It's a scam
February 9, 2024

You send your trades in once they have them they lowball you. They make a first offer then go up little at a time. The final offer was less than half of the original offer. Due to their lack of principle I did t agree. I shipped my items with cases to protect from any damage. Received my phones with scratches on the screen. Don't do business with them scammers

I have used Gadget Gone many times and have never had anything but a 100% positive outcome. They offer very competitive buy offers, provide excellent regular follow-up communication, and complete their evaluation and payment quicker than most similar services. The very few times that they offered a reduced amount, they provided a really detailed explanation why. More importantly, there's a bunch of times that they increased my original offer amount because I underestimated the condition or had entered the wrong model info.

Scam operation?
November 1, 2023

My shipping label never arrived. I emailed this company and responded to their text messages many times to try to get a shipping label. They had my correct contact information, yet every time they stated the shipping label was sent, it NEVER arrived. 2 weeks ago they stated they were sending me a box and label in the mail, which was supposed to arrive in 5-7 business days. You guessed it! Still nothing. Guess I'll cross them off of my list of trustworthy companies.

Highly recommend!
October 26, 2023

I have sold about 5 devices with Gadgets gone and every single time they have proven to be the best place to sell old devices. One time they we having an issue getting one of my devices to work and they worked on it for 2 days to get it working so I could get my full payment. They got it working and I got my full amount. This last time I got an iPad and they found it was in better condition than what I reported and rather than just giving me the agreed upon amount, they emailed me and told me that because of the better condition they were going to give me $10 more! This company is absolutely the BEST place to sell your old devices and they pay better than Best Buy or whatever other huge corporation.

Best In The Business!
October 7, 2023

GadgetGone is truly in a league of their own. I have been selling with them for over 8 years and every single transaction has been flawless since day one. Their customer service is top notch. They are quick to review devices, respond to questions, and send payment. They are honest in everything they do. There have even been a few occasions where they offered me MORE than I was quoted because the device was in better condition than I thought. That's the kind of integrity I look for in a business relationship. I am customer for life!

Found this company online, did the questionnaire and they offered 31 bucks based on that. Not long after they received my old phone, I got an email stating that because my phone was above and beyond their expectation, they doubled the offer. I was amazed they did that! I will definitely check back in the future

Outstanding company! My experience has been nothing short of exceptional. The entire process was remarkably seamless and effortless. After receiving my phone, they promptly assessed its value and issued payment without delay. What truly impressed me was their proactive approach - they actually enhanced the appraised value of the phone in their system. Instead of sticking to the original quote, they matched their current offering, resulting in a higher payout for me. I will be exclusively working with them going forward.

Do not trust gadgetgone with your device. I sent my iphone to them after receiving a quote of $209 for flawless condition. Today. After they've had my phone in their possession for 7 days I received an email with a new quote that was $100 less because of deep scratches found on the screen. My phone has (had)zero scratches, abrasions or blemishes. It was used by my father for two weeks before he passed. Was in an OtterBox case in a drawer until I was able to get with apple to clear the id. I rejected the offer of $109.00 and asked for my phone to be returned. They then immediately offered $140. I declined again. These people are crooks in my opinion. Do Not Trust Gadgetgone with your devices.
