On 8/20/15 we purchased a used 2014 Cadillac XTS. On 8/27/15 I was buffing the car in my garage and mud started falling out from underneath the doors of the car. Upon further inspection mud was packed underneath car, door jams, between top of exhaust and trunk. Called dealer that night and they said bring car in to them in morning.

Took car to dealership is morning. I was there three hours. They had car on the lift. Manager came out and said yes there was a lot of mud but "that mud was not there when this car left the lot last night". They tried power washing the underneath and offered a free oil change when next service was due.

It was raining the night we bought the car. We drove straight home on paved roads and our driveway is paved as well.

Upon further investigation, this car came from Michigan, which had severe flooding in August 2014. Michigan is a state that does not have to reveal if a car was in a flood.

We have had the car looked at by a certified A. S. E. Mechanic and they state this car was definitely in a flood situation.

The interior of the car looks and smells brand new. We believe the interior was replaced.
We have pictures of the mud that was swept out from under the car, in a 5 gallon bucket and there is still mud in the door skins and underneath the car. I measured the difference in color in the door jams. Water apparently was 33" high on this car. The underneath of the vehicle is already showing signs of surface rust.

The car fax shows the car was titled in Milford, MI on 6/25/14. ( Floods in Michigan were in August of 2014.) The car was then sold at auction on 8/10/15 and went to Land Rover of Hunt Valley on 8/13/15. On 8/18/15 it went to Chesapeake Cadillac where we purchased the car on 8/20/15

The initial appearance of the car is beautiful. We love how it rides and handles. My concern is that further down the road electrical problems may appear, brake or wheel damage, corrosion (which surface rust has started underneath) or any other problem that arises after a car has allegedly been in 33" of flood water.

I have filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau of Baltimore on 8/31/15.

I understand if the dealership admitted they made a mistake and missed the mud (which would be impossible if the car was ever on a lift), but to accuse the customer of causing this problem is ridiculous. It has not even rained since 8/20/15, the night we purchased the car and the rain we did have would certainly not cause this situation.
