Short Story:
After less than a year of light use, our FlexCourt tiles began deteriorating. The top layer started bubbling up and separating from the tiles, as shown in my pictures. FlexCourt advertises a "16-year warranty," "thickest wear layers in the industry," and "an extremely scratch and scuff resistant floor with a longer life cycle."
After five months of trying to get a response, they initially promised to replace the tiles. Now, after 16 months, they have informed me that they can't replace the floor and are completely ignoring my attempts to contact them. I can only reach Jon's assistant, who says she can't help me. I initially paid $11,100 for the floor (not including the $4,000 installation cost), and I paid another $500 for the new tiles. Despite the "16-year warranty," the floor didn't even last 16 months.
FlexCourt: you owe me $11,607.26. You know where to send the check. It's time to do the right thing. You acknowledged that you sent me a faulty floor, and you refuse to replace it.
The Longer Story:
I moved into my new home in April 2022. In March 2023, I contacted FlexCourt because the upper layer of my floors was peeling. The company initially responded, acknowledged the issue, and promised a follow-up. However, after that, despite numerous attempts to reach them, I was ignored. Five months later, in August 2023, I began leaving 1-star reviews online, hoping they would honor their "16-year warranty."
This seemed to get their attention. The FlexCourt General Manager, Jon Damby, called to apologize for the delay. He explained that during Covid, the company switched factories, resulting in poor-quality products. He admitted that other customers had similar issues but assured me they would resolve it.
Jon claimed they had an improved product and were testing it with new clients. He asked me to be patient and let them test the new product for a few months. I agreed and waited. Meanwhile, my FlexCourt tiles continued to deteriorate. Initially, it was just a few tiles, but now it's peeling everywhere. I had overbought tiles, so I replaced them almost weekly, but it was a frustrating process.
At the end of 2023, I had heard nothing from FlexCourt. I reached out to Jon via email. He responded, saying the tiles were performing well and he was waiting for a report from his quality control team.
Two more months passed without contact or updates. It's now March 2024, one year since I began seeking a solution for my deteriorating flooring. I contacted them again, and they said we could proceed. They had me confirm the line layout was correct. I requested an additional line down the middle of the court, for which they requested an additional $500 (which I paid, eager to get my floor replaced).
From March to May, I corresponded with Jon's assistant, sending more pictures of our current floor and confirming shipping details. She told me it would take 8-10 weeks. As the 10-week mark approached, I reached out to get a shipping date to coordinate with my flooring team. I received no answers. After several weeks of prodding, at the end of May I was told by Jon's assistant that they can't replace the floor right now and can't say if or when they will ever be able to.
And that's the end of the story. Two months have passed, and there have been no more replies. Jon Damby won't contact me. They won't even refund the $500 I paid in March for the new lines.
What is a warranty worth when the company refuses to stand behind it? Nothing. It's just a sales gimmick by a dishonest company that strung me along for over a year, hoping I would quietly go away and they could keep the $11,607.26
*** I had posted a one star review due to major quality issues I have had with my floor. But the company has reached out to me, and we are working towards a solution. Therefore I am removing it for now, and will update this review when it gets replaced.
