This site use to be very good, 5 stars easy, then the trolls and perverts moved in. Admin is a bit hesitant to step in, so really it is up to the users to fight off the scourge of degenerates.

The community is self policing. It uses "flags" to monitor content. The issue is, good members aren't motivated enough to flag frequently, but the pervs and trolls are more than happy to. That's why so many good members who stick up for themselves end up being flagged into suspension.

I personally love the site. I met good people and have shared wonderful experiences, and every day I do my best to fight off perverts and trolls. I started an underground movement to remove pornographic content from the site using the flag system, reporting, and other moderational tools given to the users. I also intend to start a much more public campaign to bring witty and intellectual questions back to the Q&A board, and to discourage posts of a sexual or trollish nature.

I also seek to start a promotional blog on the internet, to bring genuine and good members to the site, to try to counteract the influx of bad people. This site has SO much potential. It's pretty much overflowing with it! It just needs a bit of help is all, and it starts with the users. With me. I just know this place will shine like it use to one day. I and those who stand beside me will make it so.

If you seek to share meaningful experiences and ideas with like minded individuals, come on down to experienceproject.com. If you are a nasty and depraved pervert looking to wank off, don't bother, because me and my associates will boot you out eventually anyway :).

I think that what sucks you into a site like EP, is you feel like you are part of a community that cares. You make friends, you talk to them almost everyday, you get sucked in. The problem is when you quit, no matter what promise were made to keep in touch, it rarely happens, so you delete your account, come back, delete, come back in a vicious circle. Your friends are still addicted and are still spending all their free time on the site, so the promised emails never arrive, no one is checking them; they are all still on EP.

The hard truth is if they cared about you as a person, theyd make the effort. They are fair weather friends. Most of them there are needy, lonely, and depressed. Just like you. After all that is why many join up on the site, because in real life it is hard for us to make friends.

We also have the ability to project ourselves as we would like, not in the clumsily, shy, or awkward way we fumble about in real life.

It is really a lot like High School, only, now, we feel popular. No longer the ones who got beat-up in the locker room, made fun of in the hallways, the ones who were never picked for sports, and weren't asked out to the prom. It is very ego-satisfying, despite not being quite real.

It is the only way I can explain staying on a site were trolls are numerous and very nasty, were kids are exposed to adult material (that should make us all leave on principle), and if you are female you are constantly hit on by men of dubious character.

This site does something to your mind; it warps it to a very narrow view, where being funny and popular is all that really matters, just like High School.

I met some great people and read some meaningful stories; I have stayed in contact with exactly two people out of the 50 Friends I made.

I cannot recommend this site as the bad far out weighs the good.

I joined this site in 2012, as I am a sufferer of Anxiety and Depression, and was in search of people to talk to with similar interests and/or disorders. At first, I felt very welcome on ExperienceProject; I met a lot of nice people, being able to freely express myself was very liberating; it was comforting to know there were others out there like myself. I met some great people who encouraged me and offered support, I met people who eventually became my friends no matter that they lived across the ocean. It felt nice to be accepted, even if it was only online.

However, the site took took a turn for the worse in mid-2012, even though it was never perfect to begin with. I think this might be due to the fact that the website became more known as time passed, which meant more visitors. People first started to visit this online community to find like-minded people, to be able to express themselves without judgement and negativity, to make friends from all over the world who share our interests—it was just a very safe, small, casual website where everyone seemed like a family that helped each other out. Now, it's rare to discover any of this amongst all the mess EP has created.

It is now full of pointless changes that do not serve any of the Users appropriately. The ExperienceProject staff do not take our ideas, advice, or concerns into consideration. In fact, they never respond to any emails, even if it's regarding something serious such as harassment or a site error. They ignore every message sent to them. There are a lot of sexual predators, a lot of sick minded and sadistic people who are into unnatural and horrendous fetishes. Old men talking to thirteen year olds. Pornographic images and sexual messages being sent out. Disturbing Experience Groups and Stories and Questions being shared; a lot of what they do is either illegal or morally wrong. The things these people talk about are sickening to the stomach; very repulsive and vulgar, gruesome and vicious, nauseating and perverted. There are a lot of death threats, people trying to coax others into their sexual fantasies. There's a lot of spam and scammers and false advertisements. Cyber-Bullying is also increasing on ExperienceProject, I've dealt with it first hand a lot of times, and never did the EP staff help. They have Reporting and Flagging options, but even when you're being threatened or bullied to the extreme, clicking those buttons does absolutely nothing—EP do not respond or take action.

This site was very close to my heart when I first discovered it; it was the first time I felt like I belonged somewhere. However, it's no longer the same site anymore, and I do not recommend it to anyone who is thinking to sign up. It is becoming a very unsafe and disturbing website.
