I had to deal with Equiniti in order to transfer shares that I inherited when my mother died. From the start I knew it was going to be a difficult process. When I sent them an email the auto-reply stated that they 'aimed' to deal with my request within 5 to 10 working days! I don't think that timescale is acceptable these days, it's like talking to someone on a distant planet. I understand that they are very busy because they are the Registrar for nearly 50% of all shares but they really need to address the situation.
Their phone line isn't much better, nearly every time I called they were so busy that they wouldn't even let me join the queue!
After I eventually got notified that the transfer was complete I was told to use their Shareview app but the registration process failed at the first step, entering my name. Of course it is a weekend and I can't phone them until monday!
It turned out that Equiniti 'forgot' to give me the correct reference number! I'm now on the Shareview app which seems ok so far.
