Joke of a company steals my money and refuses to reinstate lost items
February 7, 2024

Where do I begin...? I submitted support tickets to speak with a representative who could help me recover lost cosmetic items that I had spent money on. For some reason, all of the items I spent time grinding out on the Battle Pass and purchasing in-store just randomly disappeared after a couple of years of taking a break from the game. I followed their instructions, verified my email, provided them with email documentation of my account creation, receipts for purchases on the Microsoft Store, name, emails, addresses, payment card numbers and name of banks used, location of purchases, EVERYTHING! Any normal company that is similarly attempting to help recover accounts wouldn't ask for even half of all the things they listed. However, I provided it all anyway so they could help me get my lost items back on my six-year-old account. But for what? For nothing. They refused service and kept repeating that there are "security discrepancies" and could not verify my account ownership despite sending receipts and emails and the rest of the slew of information I sent them. What is incredibly frustrating is they do nothing else but keep parroting that line and provide no further explanation of what these particular discrepancies are and how I can remedy them. They outright REFUSE SERVICE. Essentially, they gave me one try at remembering all the information of a video game account created six years ago and will no longer assist me. Like is this a joke? This is the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life. It feels like theft. It feels like they stole my money and are withholding it from me. It's like going to the airport and providing your passport but the TSA agent says, "This photo doesn't look like you" but in reality, it was a photo of you taken six years ago before you had a beard. The TSA agent doesn't believe you when you say it's you, so you provide him with your birth certificate, voting records, social security number, etc. and he still says it isn't you and arrests you. That. That is exactly what this feels like. I've been through God knows how many representatives that change each time I send a response and they keep dodging my questions and demands for refunds and to speak with a manager. It's absolutely disgusting how they conduct business and only care about money rather than actually helping their customer base. Shameful business practices... DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY BECAUSE IF SOMETHING HAPPENS, THEY WILL NOT DO A DAMN THING TO HELP YOU.

Tip for consumers:

Run away. Do not spend any money with this company.

Terrible Experience
October 11, 2023

If I could have left negative stars, I would have but I was forced to give a 1 star which is far more credit than they deserve.

Activated an account a year ago as parent for my son, a minor. We couldn't add VBucks he received as a birthday gift because when we logged into Epic Games to redeem them it would not allow us to redeem them under his account and cashed them into mine. Customer service kept giving emails with vague instruction that never seemed to help. My son and I eventually figured out a work around and I "gifted" him the items he wanted. From this point forward we asked for no VBucks cards and I directly added money from Fortnite game with my card. We have added VBucks this way for 11 months and 2 weeks ago attempted to do the same and reached a message stating needing parent account password before proceeding. Despite me entering my password (I even logged into my account on my phone and computer) I kept receiving "invalid password" error. Reached out to customer support yet again and I have been emailing for 2 weeks, 1-2 emails a day depending on response time from Epic Games. Kept getting "support tutorials" and each time I'm told if I follow the steps provided I will have access to my account. Epic Games has instead created a bigger and bigger mess. I am still not able to add VBucks and now we can't access his account at all. I was forced to create a new email and Epic Games linked both emails to the same Console yet my console only logs me into my old email and everything has been updated to the new email. Now can't access Epic Games because both emails are disabled from my console and cannot be linked because both are registering as linked.

If you are considering buying ANY game that is associated with Epic Games I would highly recommend against it. In fact, just light that money on fire, you will be less disappointed and not frustrated at the lack of help.

Epic Games could really improve customer service by providing a phone contact system as it is incredibly absurd to email, wait on an email with instructions that may or may not help, attempt steps provided, email again, wait again on response. A phone call could provide immediate resolution and troubleshooting and lead to much less frustration on the customer end.

Epic Games is an absolute mess.
November 1, 2022

I would like to start off by saying that I hate the idea of multiple launchers and exclusivity deals. However the free games that this platform puts out weekly just slightly tip the odds in it's favour. That being said, I find this platform to be absolute garbage. From the fact that there is no community discussions or mod support. I abolutely love all the features given by steam and would like this to happen to the Epic platform as well, considering it has some potential. Unfortunately my tests have given me some doubt. Firstly, these tests have been conducted on my machine (1070GTX 16 Gb ram i7 processor) so they might not be accurate.
For launching the platform, I compared it to steam.
In the worst case scenario steam loads up and is functional in about 12 seconds (11,47s for you nerds)
In the best case scenario Epic loads up and is functional in about 26 seconds (26,18)
Keep in mind these tests have been done repeatedly (10 times each) and averaged out.
Downloading games seems to take significantly longer on Epic as well with one of my favorite games (Wolfensetin 2 The New Order) taking 4 hours and 27 minutes on a 1000Mb/s connection with no interruptions and only this task running on the machine (this time test was only done 5 times because it ended up taking too long)
The same game, on steam took about 1 hour and 40 minutes on the same connection.
Frankly these numbers are so different you might think the hardware had a stroke.
Unfortunately this is only the tip of the iceberg. As mentioned before, exclusivity is annoying, and Epic striking deals with game publishers and developers to have it's access cut from any other platforms is a huge dealbreaker to me. For example when Metro Exodus was announced to be Epic exclusive right before launch. Or how Subnautica Below Zero was inexplicably 26£ on Epic while only 20$ on Steam. Keep in mind the currency. There may be other examples but these ones I can be sure of since I have witnessed them firsthand. These issues aside, their library is a huge pile of garbage as well. Instead of scrolling through the entire library as on Steam I have to go from page to page by clicking buttons, adding an extra step. While you could argue "just use the search bar" or "lists already exist just select more items per page" it would be far easier to have a more compact list so you didn't have to scroll so far down. I admit this is my own personal bone to pick with this specific feature.
The last two things that really grind my gears is how the purchase screen is white and not black like the rest of the launcher is? And finally, the fact that having your account settings re-routed to the web page is so inconvenient.
Anyway, if my information is not entirely up-to date it is because I have grown tired of Epic and have not been too keen to use it to investigate every single issue thoroughly, I am here purely to rant and show some facts.

Absolutely Laughable
July 6, 2022

Don't even bother with this especially if you aren't a regular user of Epic Games. I paid for show bucks because the Nintendo switch eShop wasn't working and I couldn't even do anything. When I asked for support, they just told me it wasn't available for refund and said the transaction went through despite me perfectly listing the problem then told me to contact support! I get not getting a refund for that, but I already went there looking for help because I couldn't see my show bucks because of how I had to go through the store so no duh I have to contact support, that is what I did! I rarely seek support for a reason and this just solidifies that I do not wish to support Epic Games in the future. I tried to solve the problem on my own and only sought support as a last resort and instead they ignore 90% of my request just to tell me to contact support about transferring the show bucks when that is what I asked in the first place. This service is entirely laughable. It was frustrating enough just to get the site to load on any of my devices yet trying to figure out what even some prerequisites meant and even trying to buy the showbucks through the site was absolutely terrible and took more time on random Google searches and forum discussions than it should have. I accept I lost my money, but honestly, it really just shows that Epic Games is terrible at what they do. I don't even care enough to seek more support. I heard things before about Epic Games and was already skeptical. I should just stick to my gut on being free to play because of course it goes wrong. Unless you're someone with enough money and a great set up and regularly play stuff on Epic Games, it's not worth it at all. Not to mention, I got two different replies from two different folks for the same issue. It was in the same chain yet entirely different. I just don't even care anymore. I just want to move on and be smart enough to not trust Epic Games again. I've only contacted a support team once before when an app I use wasn't working and they were phenomenal. Compared to that, this is pathetic. Don't even bother. No clarity on the site, FAQs are pretty much useless and didn't help any of my situation even when I searched, and all they did was send me off to a different support team despite no clarity about the situation at all. It's ridiculous and I've already sunken more time, emotions, and effort into buying 1,000 showbucks than I ever put in during work. That's just sad and ridiculous.

Tip for consumers:

If you're going to buy, buy on other consoles like through the switch eShop. The site itself is awful. Or don't bother at all.
