They ship custom cut closets the next day. Pieces arrived superbly packed. Had easy to use instructions. Takes some mechanical aptitude to assemble, but nothing daunting. Overall a great product, fast delivery, and good price. Only comment: I was installing between 2 fixed walls (reach in), and their builder makes you leave like 1/8" space. I decided to leave 1/2" just to be safe. It barely fit. Should have left 1" space overall, because wall surfaces are rarely truly flat and even. Their system should advice a little more margin.
I have ordered at least 12 orders with them over the years. They have gone downhill quickly, used to be 2 day shipping now close to 2 weeks but initial shipping date was 4 days late then additional 5 more days. As a contractor we depend on accurate shipping and delivery dates to keep our customers happy. Easy Closets now will tell you whatever you want to hear but will not hold up to their promises in addition to having incomplete orders and having to wait a week for replacements which entail another trip back to customer.
We have just ordered our second EasyClosets organizers for our master bedrooms (2 separate homes). The product is well made, creating my own design with the tool was easy, the design review excellent. But, the best part, is that the boxes are all labeled, the product list complete - no missing parts, and the design and instruction booklets are easy to follow. My contractor told me it was the easiest system to install as a result of the superb packaging and organization. I couldn't be happier.
I would not recommend this company for closet renovations. The customizable tool is nice, though it took over one month to just fully install it. They had to send replacement items three times due to forgetting to send and item or sending the wrong item. We hired a contractor to install it, and thank god, because it took 2 professionals 5 hrs to complete it. We would never have been able to complete it on our own. Their claim it can be built by anyone is a farce. They also leave out simple details that make it feel cheap. For example, if you order anything with handles you have to drill your own holes. Leave room for errors in inconsistencies. Paying for $2,300 for a closet that I had to have professionals install and have all the above issues would have made it more practical to just have a contractor design it themselves. I would highly recommend going with another company.
If you are somewhat skilled in carpentry and/or working with tools in general, you can install a very nice cabinet system with this product line. Design options are excellent and quality is top notch. I would have given this company five stars if I had not come away with the feeling that their customer service personnel were rude and condescending -- apparently uninterested in my comments. When I notified them about four adjustable shelves that were not received with the order, they stonewalled and, essentially, said that was not possible! It was a complete dead end.
The next few projects I have planned will come from a different source. It is sad. This company has so much potential! It is such a good business concept and they produce very high quality products. With some in-house training in effective customer relations, they would have it all!
Don't read the old, outdated reviews below. This was probably the easiest and seamless project I have done, and I have remodeled a lot! I bought a $3,500 closet system (Included the 20% off) and couldn't be happier with the product and customer service. Like with any product that comes from a third party shipping company, some items have the potential to come damaged. I made a note on the shipping ticket, took pictures as instructed by EC, and emailed them the issues. They had my replacement panels mailed out the next day and to my front door in less than a week (I live in Florida so I am a bit away from their office). You will not find a company that is more responsive and attentive than these guys.
There is a small learning curve on how to put it together, but if you love DIY stuff, and you can read, you'll have no issues putting this together.
Way to go Easyclosets!
Fantastic company! I was able to design my closet with ease on their website. They emailed me with a copy of my proposed design and suggestions and left me a contact name and number. I called the following day to review my order and placed it. In 5 days my new closet arrived! Each box was labeled, describing the parts clearly. It was easy to set up (took about 3hrs). No cutting required and all parts were there, minus a missing screw. Closet looks great! Highly recommend Easyclosets.com!
We recently had our Master Bath remodeled and decided to tear out the old painted wood walk in closet system and install a new one from Easy Closets. The design tool is excellent, but does take some exploring to learn all of its features. Since the remodel company was still busy with our bathroom remodel, we needed to delay the shipping on our Easy Closet system. No problem, we then called Easy Closet a week prior to when we needed it a, it arrived on the exact day promised via UPS. The UPS van backed up to our garage and I helped them offload the 23 cartons that contained our system, Prior to receiving the closet system, I received a packing list via email detailing what was in each carton. A few calls to customer service were picked up promptly and courteously. A black clip was missing from a belt hanger, no problem, a new belt hanger arrived in 2 days.
It was hard to find a system that does not hang from a bar. I don't like hanging systems, they are not safe... i finally found this company called Tidysquares.com they provide full uprights and its safe and secure. Their website is so clean and easy to navigate. Good luck
I purchased a house with easy closets. The layout didn't include very many rods. I sent in a list of rods and sizes that I needed and one of the worst closet customer service experiences I've ever been exposed to happened.
The proposal was incorrect
They blamed me
They were even resistant to send a new proposal.
No one would respond to my issues they just kept telling me they fulfilled the Invoice.
I have three more spaces to finish out and I'll go back to the higher end elfa.
The rods they sent were cut horribly with large shards on each end.
The price is a little high but the quality doesn't match and the customer service is like a flea market.
Easy Closets isn't less expensive than other companies. I got estimates from other closet organizer companies and they were comparable, but with Easy Closets you have to install it yourself, and you have to deal with their delivery company (Estes Express). Their service is dismal, at best (read the Estes Express reviews - they have one star). So be prepared to wait all day and then hope and pray they even show up, because I've had two deliveries from easyclosets via Estes Express and both were problematic. After the second one, where they never showed after I waited almost 8 hours, they never called to cancel, they never communicated with me at all, I decided it wasn't worth the headache. It's a shame, because Easy Closets lost a lot of business from me due to their shipping issues.
I had this product professionally installed by my remodeling contractor. 5 years later, it fell apart during the middle of the night. (That will jolt you awake!). There was not any indication that anything was wrong. I had not added any addional weight to the shelves or hanging bars in that time. I contacted the company and complied with their request for pictures and information. I have spent now over a month trying to get some sort of help, but the "customer support team" seems to "loose" my emails or reports that "we just sent a reply" and nothing comes through. And yes, I checked all those spam folders on my computer. I'm not dumb, and I really think they just hope I will go away! NOT! Do not order from this company. Better to go to a brick & morter store where you can get some real help!
The online design tool was the best of 4 that I studied. Easy closets did not try to force me into a pre-designed shape. It took our measurements and laid out the shape as it actually is constructed. Then it let you decide the types of spaces or it made suggestions. Editing the design was simple with drop down screens and lots of options. A very nice sales person, Patricia, followed up, we tweaked a small amount and ordered.
The product was packed with amazing protective materials. The cuts were accurate, the hardware was top quality and the instructions were thorough. Whoever invented cam-locks was a genius, they made the process of building sturdy support shelves easy. My husband and I installed a 12x8 closet in 1 day.
I'm already thinking about the next cliset.
Do not do business with this company, I ordered a $5800 closet from them. When delivered many of the parts were broken, and I cannot get a response from them. I have emailed and called repeatedly and they all they have is an answering service that takes a message. I now have an unusable collection of wood and metal in my garage not hing but frustration.
Shame on them!
Working with the designer was great ordered was received with in two days instructions took alittle to get use to.
The biggest concern is they have no customer service after the sale. I have reached out 4 days in row with nothing but crickets. I would expect more for the dollars spemt
Easyclosests sells a good product at a reasonable price and the service is terrific. Sure you have to use a hack saw, a screwdriver, a drill, a level, and perhaps a hammer. They tell you that up front. You may need some modest carpentry skills to cut the corner shelf fillers to size. You also have to be able to read directions. It's not so simple that a caveman can do it. Still, it's pretty straight forward and the results are very good. I installed a walk-in closet system in about 1.5 days. The hardest part was carrying the heavy hutch panels upstairs. I had a contarctor remodeling the upstairs of my house; both bathrooms, three bedrooms... this was not a cheap remodel (six figures). However, I decided to do the closet myself using Easyclosts. The results are so good the my contractor asked for the name of the web site.
This is a very well engineered and thought out product. I purchased a laundry room shelf and cabinet system from them as a "test" before I committed to a full closet system. The product arrived in 5 cartons, well protected with nothing broken or damaged. Instructions were excellent and the quality is very good. The fasteners are well designed and work perfectly. It's worth your time to read the instructions first! Also, You can do a rough design and submit it to them for "finishing" at no charge and it's well worth the effort. I did this, and when the system was installed the dimensions and fit to the space were perfect. Overall I would say this is comparable (and in some respects superior) to the quality of California Closets who I have direct experience with. It has a better fit than the big box systems I've seen. Materials are manufactured boards with a melamine type laminate, steel rods and hangers (no plastic). You will have to do a bit of measuring and a little work with a hacksaw, but no big deal (unless you're a complete klutz and/or don't know which end of a screwdriver to use). Good value, and easy to install. Their customer service before and after the sale is terrific (I called with a couple minor install questions). Highly recommended.
Looks pretty but badly engineered. A few modest changes to the design would have prevented most of my complaints. First, I have a long wall in my closet (10+ feet). The unit for that wall has provision for hanging clothes on each end with a middle unit with 2 drawers a slacks hanger that slides in and out and 3 shelves. The 2 vertical panels for the drawers stop 1 foot short of the floor. After a few months this section started to sag. I had to cut pieces of lumber to put under each vertical panel to fix the sag. Supposedly their designers are professionals. A professional would have realized that you cannot have a long span like that without intermediate support. Secondly, the fasteners for the drawer slides and the slack hanger are not sufficient. After some months of use they have pulled out of the holes in the particle board and made opening the drawers difficult to open. I have had to go to the hardware store and buy nuts and bolts to fix them. Again a simple fix. Lastly, the notches on vertical panels used to hang them from the wall bracket are insufficient and need to be reinforced somehow. I believe this could be a simple design fix.
We have had a miserable experience with easy closets. We had family come in from 10hrs away to help us build this closet and easy closets did not provide us with the necessary parts to complete the early stages of the closet. In fact someone in their factory had crossed through the part that was needed and ignored and still sent us the closet. They refused to overnight us the piece we needed so that we could complete before our family members have left however easy closets said the earliest they could get the piece to us was in 4 days. This unacceptable. It was their mistake and they need to fix it. Instead we now have to run around town trying to find the missing piece so we can complete this while we still have the help available. I do not appreciate careless and inconsiderate business especially when you have paid over 2k for a product. When that amount of money is involved you would think the business would either compensate you for their error or fix the situation as soon as possible. This business did no such thing.
Unless you want to spend hours with a hacksaw, DON'T BE FOOLED by their claims their product is "easy to install" or "designed to be homeowner installed."
After they take all your measurements, they NEVER TELL YOU that they do not custom size or cut the THICK STEEL BRACKETS required to install the closets in the first place. So, in essence, what you get is a bunck of pieces parts and a date with a hacksaw.
Don't let their cute little "time lapse video" fool you either! See those thick metal support beams there, well they DON'T just magically fit the closet wall: NO, YOU HAVE TO HACK THROUGH THEM TO MAKE THEM FIT! Their designers don't tell you this; the FAQs don't tell you this; the video doesn't show this.
Hacksaws; thick steel beams; sharp edges to harm the closet users (in our case our kids): BAD BAD BAD all around.
I spoke directly to the so-called "Vice President of Internet Marketing" and she could not have been MORE condescending: "You do know how to use a drill, right? And a level, right? And a screwdriver, right?" Then, she claims that my call was being recorded and that there were also several people in the room listening in on the call. This was before she called me back and offered me money not to "drag her company through the mud." HUH?
We don't know about you, but if we wanted to use a hacksaw for hours and hours and hours at a time, we would have gone into metal working. Trust us: save the time, headache, and expense: STAY AWAY FROM EASYCLOSETS.COM -- THERE IS NOTHING EASY ABOUT THEM.
