I used the app for free and it appears if that is the case you will not be in any advance placement classes. Very basic. Very redundant. Doesn't define words I advance of using and testing on them. Pronunciation tests are a joke passing me at times before I even finished speaking and failing me over one word repeatedly for multiple days no matter how I tried to alter the pronunciation. Too befrank, if you use the app for free you won't get far.
I really like the app except on the speaking exercises with the blue microphone don't work 95%of the time. Duolingo customer service is really different to get a hold of. I have tried to use their automated help with this issue but it doesn't help. Other than that it's a good app.
Do not waste your time with this now worthless program. I joined Duolingo 6 years ago and currently have a 1337 day streak. About a year ago, Duolingo changed the platform into what now is a piece of crap. The old platform, in my opinion, was good. The new platform is more of a video game in which you compete with 30 random people every week. There are "Leagues" with the "Diamond League" being the highest. I've been in that league for about 2 years. I was "following" 2 other students who, once the platform changed, essentially quit using the program. It is free, but even at free it is over priced. You will be far better off paying for a language program, any language program EXCEPT Duolingo Plus. It is even more worthless than the free program because you are paying for NOTHING--literally.
Although convenient to use, I am growing increasingly frustrated with this platform the longer that I use it. The learning tools are scarce and, to often, the content is patently unfair - it requires the user to resort to brute force memorization with very limited tools to educate yourself why an answer might be wrong. Also, very frustratingly, an answer is often scored as incorrect for reasons that are not explained. I'd go elsewhere if you are looking for a language learning tool.
I have been using the platform for about 2 weeks. I have noticed that it has a homosexual agenda, both in the characters and eventually the dialogue. I would not recommend this company for anyone, especially children and youth. It is a "grooming" site for perverse behaviour.
I work with French people at my work. I didn't understand a single word when they talked to me. But thanks to Duolingo I can communicate better. Duolingo is indeed a helpful tool to learn a new language. It's easy to use and the results are seen right away. I use the free version. The only thing I don't like is the ads, but they just pop when you finish a lesson.
I used this site for years for trying learning languages. Year by year they become more greedy and worse, pushing their Paid Plus Subscription. Non existent costumers service. They removed forums were people could interract eachother for language ex change tips, so they dont allow anymore that people have a voice on there. Their recent update was the drop that filled the glass and made unbearable and frustrating to use this site... Do not recommend. Avoid this crap. There are better sites out there for learning languages
Excellent language-learning application!
It works extremely well with IOS and Android. The lessons are short and very effective! It's a pleasure to use it on a daily basis. I couldn't recommend it more!
After spending 166 consecutive days on the Duolingo app, the voices used are increasingly difficult to understand. When using the slow option to hear the phrase, the pronunciation is even worse. In particular, a young girls voice is the most difficult to understand. Keep in mind that you are trying to learn a new language and you need to clearest pronunciation of the words. I am not sure the frustration is worth the insignificant daily progress. I suggest that Duolingo change the voices, especially the young female voices.
The app is very organized and makes learning new languages easy. It go so far as to test how much you know to determine what's practice and what's new for you. ( If you so choose) The app lets you join in " clubs/clans " with people learning the same language(s). You can ask questions and comment on other posts. Your acheivements will be shared. There are games and questions posted by Duolingo that make it just that more fun. Overall the app is amazing. My only negative/complaint is that I wish that it had almost all languages. It has around 20ish. But that's something I hope to see from them in the future.
I would like to say that Duolingo is a very nice website, my only complaint is that it is extremely laggy
I finish a lesson then it loads then i brings me onto the home page and says that I did not do the lesson. Other than it being laggy I give it a 5 stars
In the free version (nothing is free; you are bombarded with advertisements) you are pestered till the edge in order to subscribe to the paid version. Really everything is done to frustrate you. And yet they claim it is an educational app. Don't make me laugh!
I love it is just a great learning thing. The thing is a lot of people love it so it is good for any age but like this age is are the not good for Duolingo 1 2 3 4 5 but if they can read give them a try be able to but to be able to learn new words
I rly like Duolingo! I was learning Swedish language and it was my best friend! Duolingo has a very simple and good looking interface. Also, it sends notifications when it is the time to learn. Good one.
The new format is horrible. The CFO is clearly an idiot. His arrogance is going to lead Duolingo downwards. Only when the losses mount up, will he be forced to go back to the original format. It will be too late though. I'm saying good riddance Duolingo. Hello Babbel!
Duolingo is a terrible application for learning languages. They are only interested in taking your money. There are much better options.
I subscribed to Super Duolingo and found it to be a great improvement over the free version. Within a week, however, I suddenly had no access to the Super Duolingo that I had paid for. Then, I was able to use it by signing onto the web, but could not 'speak answers' or access the leader board. Repeated requests for assistance have gone unanswered. VERY DISAPPOINTING!
Duo lingo is a lot of fun! Learning languages can be hard, but with this website it makes it so much easier. I would recommend them, especially since it is FREE!
I've been learning Spanish on Duolingo and I highly recommend this great website for two purposes:
- language learning - as I've worked a lot as Italian prof and English teacher, I can assure you that Duolingo's approach is on point! Gradual introducing of new content and rich practicing experience is exactly what you need to get familiar with a new language
- brain practice - every new learning experience is great for exercising of your brain's neuroplasticity (the ability of your brain to change and improve) - you'll become more focused, more resilience and better in decision making
Just choose the language that you'll have fun learning.
Duolingo is a pretty good app for learning the basics of a language, however, they aren't really trying to make it free. They do many things to cause you to use your hearts so that you have to buy them.
First of all, I would suggest the way to get the most out of Duolingo would be to learn a language with a friend. If you and a friend are learning together and are staying on similar levels then you can begin to speak to each other and that will greatly enhance your ability to learn language and recall what you're learning in a conversational manner. Duolingo tries to do that but I don't think it's very successful.
Second, they use this heart system which doesn't work very well, and they say they're trying to keep the app free, but they will do things to make you lose your hearts, like add words that you have never seen before in the answers. I've had many times when I've had a fill in the blank question, and the answer was a word that I have never seen in any of my lessons. They do this so that you lose your hearts and you have to either wait or do something to get more hearts. They hope that you will buy them. I would not suggest that. There are other ways
Answer: Legit company. Its fully real and WILL NOT steal your family.
Answer: It's free. Other platforms offer you free services until a specific level. Duolingo doesn't do that. You can remain as a free user all the time.
Duolingo has a rating of 2.4 stars from 82 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Duolingo ranks 180th among Language Learning sites.
