Dubizzle's Disarray: A Review of Frustration and Inconvenience
May 15, 2024

My recent experience with Dubizzle has been nothing short of a nightmare, characterized by incompetence, mismanagement, and a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction.

It all began when I entrusted Dubizzle to facilitate the sale of my car. Despite agreeing on a sale price of 25K AED, Dubizzle's commission amounted to a staggering 2,100 AED, which was deducted as a "succession fee." However, the transaction quickly unraveled when the buyer discovered issues with the odometer and backed out. Subsequently, the buyer agreed to purchase the car for 18K AED.

What adds insult to injury is the misguided advice given by Dubizzle's sales agent. I was convinced that conducting the local transfer from Sharjah to Dubai would save both time and money, despite the buyer needing to collect the car from Dubai. As a result, I was forced to travel to Sharjah for the local transfer, incurring additional expenses of around 320 AED, when a tow truck would have cost only 150 to 200 AED.

In an attempt to salvage the situation, Dubizzle agent said they could request to waive off the succession fee, and the buyer would pay me 18K for the car. However, until they received approval from management, they would keep the car in their yard, as it couldn't be driven due to no plate, insurance, and registration, despite us already completing the transfer from Sharjah to Dubai.

However, this fleeting solution soon turned into another debacle when the buyer backed out again, leaving me stranded with a car I couldn't register under my name.
Dubizzle's negligence became glaringly apparent when I attempted to register the car, only to discover that the mortgage from the buyer (who backed out) was still active, rendering the registration process impossible.

Despite assurances from Dubizzle, the resolution of this issue remains elusive, with no concrete timeline provided for when the mortgage will be cleared. In the meantime, I am left in limbo, unable to drive the car and burdened with the additional inconvenience and uncertainty.

Dubizzle's lack of accountability and failure to uphold basic standards of professionalism have made this entire ordeal a harrowing experience. As a platform that purports to facilitate seamless transactions, Dubizzle has fallen woefully short, leaving customers like myself stranded in a quagmire of incompetence and mismanagement.

In conclusion, I cannot in good conscience recommend Dubizzle to anyone seeking to buy or sell a car. The litany of issues I have encountered underscores the urgent need for Dubizzle to reassess its practices and prioritize customer satisfaction above all else.

Sincerely,
Muhammed

Blocking accounts for miscategorizing?! Nonexistent customer care
February 10, 2022

I have been using the platform for some time to sell things no longer needed around the house. There are two things I have noticed substantially increasing more recently - the first is the number of scammers phishing for information. I have been contacted on my personal number more and more by "people" saying they want to purchase something, and they will pay through empost, etc if I give them the information and so on. I report all of these to the authorities but it feels very unsafe.
The second thing is the increasing rejection of my items because of "miscategorization" and so on. I remember it not being such a problem before, but it has been getting more and more frustrating. It is particularly frustrating since most of the time I am just letting the dubizzle itself generate the categorization. Over and over I had an ad for a simple beach umbrella rejected. My last try was in "water sports equipment." I had another ad that had been up for some time suddenly rejected because they claimed I was selling more than one thing. So, rather than continuing the frustrating guessing game I contacted them directly for the categorization.
The responding representative on Feb 6,2022 at 17:54 was extremely impolite. I was told if I continue to miscategorize my account might be blocked. I was then lectured on how categorizing "correctly" makes it easier for buyers while doing so incorrectly "hinders the user experience by showing irrelevant ads to our users." They consider a beach umbrella irrelevant to users looking at water sports equipment, but clearly belonging to the category "Garden structures and fences." (A beach umbrella, by the way, is pointy at the end for burying in sand. It would not work in a garden.) I could not believe how this person could not spare some simple politeness to my asking for the correct category, and that I was threatened with blocking for such a silly reason. My phone being bombarded with scammers, it seems incredibly trivial and frankly upsetting this rudeness and difficulty posed by them for my wanting to post for a measly beach umbrella.
So, I wrote a review describing my negative experience. Today, Feb 10,2022 at 2:31 pm I receive a notification that I have received a response for my review. It seemed more polite and considerate. However, within a half hour of this I received a notification for a rejection of an older post that has been up for some time, then message after message about my account now being blocked.
I do not see the sense in any of this - the lack of training in polite customer care, the increasing rejection of user's posts for "miscategorization," even blocking users for said miscategorization. Where is the business sense in mistreating users and blocking them for something so trivial while phishers and scammers run rampant?
The answer is there isn't. It only serious degrades the user experience and ultimate worth and future prosperity of the service. I will remember my experience, share it with others, and support other platforms where I hope I might be actually be treated with some decency and care. And I'm sure I'm not alone.

Dubizzle unfair money-wasting programming bugs
November 17, 2016

This review is for Dubizzle services in the UAE
1. To place a feature Ad for AED 104 for 3 days, first one needs to place a basic ad by spending AED 53.
2. Placing basic ad is currently useless because your new ad disappears into the second page. Nobody sees it because old Featured ads as long as 1 month or more are still sitting on the first page that is already expired. By the end of the first day our new ad moves off to the 3rd or 4th page.
3. They supposedly offer a benefit for the new ad, of 3 refreshes every 3 days but the benefit is useless. It refreshes to come back to the 2nd page after the list of expired featured ads. Nobody sees it anyway. And you cannot get to placing a featured ad without this new ad (that's a total rip off).
4. After you place a new ad with an intention to be able to place a featured ad after 2 days of your new paid ad. The featured ad if it is for 3 days, If your new ad refresh coincides with your featured ad being paid for 3 days. After just 1 day of your featured ad being on the first page first row, it disappears and sits in some page 8 not getting any benefit of your new ad refresh and losing 2 days of your featured ad that cost you AED 33 a day. And nobody in dubizzle bothers to rectify it. If you remain silent you have lost it. Unless you bring the sky down to prove to them this happened. After weeks when they manually give us back the 2 days we lost,(which they later apologise and reverse back) we have lost our customers, valuable time and lost any benefit of placing the new ad. Timing is important for our ads. We place featured ads to get through to our target at a planned time.
4. So Dubizzle making it mandatory to place the new expensive paid ad to allow us to put featured ad is a rip off. That too it has a 1 month validity after which the ads get deleted/ cannot be edited.
5. I am quite sure that folks who take the time to read this are the 10% fair people and not the 90% types who make really dodgy enquiries unfortunately. I have encountered messages and bad experiences from convicts, perverts, got racist comments, people trying to rudely question our offer and the dubizzle's chat system is also very unreliable (they have not thought of helping or doing any favours for the advertiser who pays for these ads) they want to show it only benefits the person who responds to the ads. So the chat is not protecting us advertisers at all because people show up speaking as if in a vegetable market. (I have proof of this and am simply not making this up.) I was just lucky I identified such con people on time. There are 100s of numbers I have also blocked on my whatsapp some of these enquirers terrify and are intimidating. There are too many offenders that we can only block them off because we have our jobs to do and have no time to make complaint after complaint.
6. However, despite these problems I still want to advertise and hope there is some empathy for the good from this site who is really having a good online portal model that nobody in UAE is able to beat yet. I am sure everyone still comes back because there is hope for 10% of good value. While this exists dubizzle has a good opportunity to correct all these flaws. (Right now I am only convinced that I have sharpened my skills to be more perceptive and identify any suspicious behavior from ads through dubizzle. For that I am working around the 90% characters who show up as if they simply want to deceive and snatch maximum chunk of AED by cheating or to take our money by hook or by crook.
7. I hope someone who is able to take action about such atrocities, even inside of dubizzle /investigate pockets of business malpractices - which sometimes look like they simply exist to steal money from good people. They are causing so much of bad press for a beautiful country like the UAE that is such a nice place for so many nationalities. Giving hope to millions.
