Website is down half the time, mostly fakes/bots, messages do not make it to recipient. No anonymity, requires use of email address and phone number
It's odd people are saying this is a replacement to Craig'slist. However it's not nearly close, the site is pretty much solely for dating or no strings attached hookups but really the rules make it impossible to meet people let alone get messages. They flag any ad that isn't totally p. G even provocative pictures are forbidden. The messaging process is totally junk, sending messages to my own ad from my computer I didn't receive the message I sent my self. I think d. B should fall back.
I use the site and find it successful. Just don't be crude / rude on your first posting - get the point across and wait for a response. Then send that person (direct to their email not a DL server interface) whatever pics and desires you have. I think they are being cautious / smart about not getting into trouble. If you cannot post then reply to a posted ad - I've had success with both, although it took me a few tries to understand what words I can and cannot use when posting.
It's better now than a few months ago - more users.
Flags legitimate posts. Out of 10 tries 9 will get flagged for no reason. Too bad CL is gone since DL SUCKS!
You have to register and login to see any of the ads (no big deal). My login hasn't worked in months and any time I try to contact support they can't fix it and just send me in the same circles that don't work. Feels like a bunch of **extremely amateur coders** trying to make a quick buck, which is something I definitely would not trust with sensitive/personal information.
Doublelist is one of those sites that's growing but I can't stop from using.
The good:
Doublelist is just like Craigslist. You can post what you want, when you want, and how you want it. That's a unique feature that I don't see any other dating / hookup site offering. I like that functionality better than the swipe right / swipe left. I also like that they're relatively spam free and pretty good with moderation.
The bad: They don't have all locations. I live outside of Chicago and they don't have my city listed. I have to post in Chicago which is 80 miles away. The other thing is that the moderators sometimes don't approve my post which can be frustrating and annoying. There also seems to be more men than women which I kind of expected but I still
Wish it was more even.
I've been using doublelist for a few months, and while its not without its problems - its worked pretty well so far. Granted I'm gay and I don't post in the straight sections, so I can't comment on those. For the most part the quality of the people is higher than Craigslist was and I get 5-10 response to a post I do. Maybe I just post good posts, I dont know, but can't complain
This new website was launched around half-year ago and did not have the steady features & function. Will no longer use this site
The website claims its "learning algorithm" is what is used in moderating the site, but that is not true. It is biased. Anyone who does not fit the "tall, fit, masculine" look (when it comes to males), has their post rejected as it did not "meet the guidelines", yet you see every post have some form of suggestive pics, but alas, they are all 6 pack fit guys.
I made multiple post got a few responses but they were all on games or never replied messaged a few girls on there for fun hanging going to the movies the conversation always ends right in the middle it's weird I think the site is run by bots or something.
I placed several posts, never got reply. I tested by having a friend reply to my post, still no reply. Site does not work, its a waste of time.
Pretty sure this site is run by ultra conservative Christians looking to throw a wrench into any "immoral" behavior. All my ads get flagged no matter how vanilla the language. No replies get sent, that I can tell.
I would go as far to say it's completely illegitimate.
Since Craigslist took the personals out of their site, the place got somewhat better. It is still buyer beware. But where did the personals go? Well, that is where Doublelist comes in. Yep, they cashed in on the free-bie hook-up interest and they have exploded. It took a bit for the scammers to catch on, but now it is an all out "gotch-cha". You see, Cragslist has a way for others to not get your e-mail unless you contacted them direct. This site has you actually posting your e-mail in your ad when your posting something. So there is no way to hide your e-mail. Unless you set up a fake e-mail and do it that way. But you will still get slammed. The scammers also do tricks in their postings like one I have seen that used the same pick in all their ads. They are too stupid to even change the pick. But, a guy looking to get his thing on will most likely not pay any mind.
The other trick they are currently using is the contact me via "kik" or text me. This will give them your cell #. Then watch your phone bill rack up charges.
You have been warned.
Answer: It's on hold forever. Just forget about it. There is no need trying to contact customer service. There are better sites like http://joy4love.com If you are looking for hot girls - works like charm. DoubleList has always been worthless anyway. I only met just a bunch of scammers there.
Answer: Now that doublelist.com is forcing payments there will be more free sites popping up soon!
Answer: It's now 100% official, when you asked this question it was in a test phase & someone made an error of letting it go live. As of this reply you must pay a monthly fee
