“Best app out there for ebooks! Hands down”

Sagi S.
6/13/22

This app is hands down the #1 app out there for creating ebooks (actually I recently even created an audiobook). The editor is not perfect - but the way you can just import your blog posts on there is just mindblowingly easy and works like a charm! I love creating lead magnets for my podcast (The Commit First Podcast) using it. I also want to point out they keep updating their designs all the time! It now looks great and they have great looking ebooks! Love this app overall.

It means well, but hasn't gone beyond homework level. Constantly having to start again due to losing pages and the revert to earlier saved is temperamental at best

So I signed up yesterday and completed the 5 modules clarifying the possibilities and the plan of action. I was delighted to see how the advice given for such a diverse range of writers helped everyone to zero in on the path forward for their particular sphere of expertise. I have downloaded a couple of helpful documents and will be studying the Ultimate Headlines this morning. How inspirational? Well I'm sitting here working on this when we are experiencing one of our few sunny days in Manchester!
P.S. Don't know why the name Jessica is attached to this!

Tip for consumers:
Don't hesitate. Just get into it. You will enjoy working with it rather it being onerous.

Hi Tony, I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Designrr is an online application so it requires you to have a good internet connection, however we do backup your work to your local browser in case you lose your connection.

I spent $27 to try and create flipbook mock ups, but it seems to only provide e books at that level. If there's a way to produce flipbooks, this is confirmation of the horrendous user experience as it was not readily apparent in any way as to how to add a new flipbook. Generally, it's impossible to find your way around the back end - you have no idea how to find the things you need or to do the things you want to do - their "tutorials" are useless. The ebook templates are awful and basic, not attractive at all. I'm an ACTUAL designer and I know for a fact that I'm able to produce things that are ten times better in PowerPoint. I don't know why I would ever upgrade to the ridiculous $97 tier if I can't even get the things I want done at the most pedestrian level. I was cleaning up my emails and found my access info to this platform which I purchased a couple years ago and abandoned. I logged back in and now I remember why I dropped this thing. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Deserves zero stars really.

Hi Ayanna, Sorry to read that you had a bad experience. We actually do provide flipbooks at your plan level. When you publish instead of selecting ebook, you click where it says 'Flipbook'. We provide 24x7 online support, online documentation, tutorials and videos. We get great feedback from our users about the level of support and online tutorials we provide and I'm sorry you it didn't work for you this time.

I am an academic and professional writer (with 12 books in print) and I much... love in fact... prefer Designrr to work with. It is hassle-free and produces such great quality e-books. I have owned it for 3 years - upgraded to Pro and I am still just scratching the surface of what it can do! Awesome tool for every professional!

I was convinced to purchase the basic level of Designrr at $27 to try and create an eBook. The pain of getting repeated emails asking me to buy the Pro level@ $97 made me buy it, thinking I would get a much better level of everything. But do not get fooled, there is always another level to better the crap and clunky interface. I managed to create 2 eBooks with this thing, but the limitation of the templates even at $97 was not worth it.

Also, do not get fooled by the WordGenie AI capabilities. The ad is, well, a very well-made ad, and it shows you unrealistic results. My first attempt at using WordGenie resulted in an output with so many repetitions it was unusable.

Finally, when you sign up for the Pro level at $97, they allocate you 300,000 credits to use WordGenie. If you cancel the Pro subscription, not to be billed again in case you forget the renewal date, before it's due to renew, they will warn you: "You may lose some of your subscription's advantages if you cancel now." and after cancelling anyway, I realised they had removed the 300,000 credits I was given when subscribing. I also did not get any confirmation email to actually confirm my subscription had ended.

All in all, a very annoying owner always trying to get more money out of you, a very clunky software not fit for purpose, and non-existent customer service. Do not bother.

I've been using Designrr for almost a year now, and it keeps getting better! It is my "go to" application when it comes to creating quick start guide, templates, eBooks and other content for my job and my business!
As a full time professor, I can go back into my archives of personal and professional publications, import them into Designrr and revise, repurpose, and reuse work without having to recreate it! In my side hustle, I can generate timely "how to" guides that take my professional look to the next level.
Don't get me wrong, I've tried a lot of other complicate ($$pricey) applications that over promise and under deliver, so for me Designrr is MY tool of choice. If this sounds like a 'too good to be true' pitch I recommend you try it yourself and see what I and others have found. It just works!

I paid for Pro but even basic features are very counter intuitive. The platform needs a lot more work to be user friendly. Most of the time I end up using other services because designrr is just too frustrating in its functionality.

Here's one example: When creating tags, you have to use their drop down list, you cannot create your own tags. The list is very limited and does not include basic tags for alternative sectors. They only seem to include "standard corporate lingo" and completely ignore there's a global e-commerce empire around alternative lifestyles and recreational activities. Basically only cater to digital marketing... themselves being the primary upsell of goods and services.

The tag issue is just the tip of the iceberg, once you get into the templates you'll find they are very one dimensional. It seems the designers tried to adopt a word press model of drop and drag but unfortunately there is very little flexibility with the model they've created. Pages freeze a lot, and save is not intuitive. If the page freezes and you are not constantly saving; then everything is lost. There's no spell check. Seriously? Most users are creating tangible goods full of content.
Imports are a disaster from a formatting perspective. There's rarely a clean upload. Everything is a jumbled mess and if using a template, it's almost impossible to readjust, just keeps defaulting to the template specs. If using the upload feature, it's better to start from a blank screen rather than a template.

It may get better as the platform matures and develops but I will not be renewing when the new billing cycle arrives. Whoever said they were stuck in the early 2000, isn't kidding.

I really wanted to love this platform and was very excited there could be a service to help professionals create digital content with ease. Sorry but I find the free version of Canva has more flexibility and is more user friendly than the paid version of designrr.

Ok the problem that I have is that every time that I want to edit a page, all the content of the rest of the pages move form one place to other place. Also, when I want to publish it, sometimes it does not make any change from the last edit, even when you do the process 100% fine. Client service answers immediately but most of the time they cant fix the problem that you have. The have to work A LOT on their platform.

I joined Designrr a year ago to create a flipbook and enjoyed the experience so much I upgraded and have been creating ebooks from my videos and podcasts too. The content import process is smooth and having templates that recognise the content make it easy to produce something that looks custom and professional right out of the gate.
Also great that it's been around for 6 years so I know it's here to stay. Highly recommended

What Designrr lets me do, I could do better by only using Power Point and save as a PDF. Very unfriendly to use, nothing new. A waste of money!

This program is the best way to realize your projects. You can easily do your writings to teach others, do your projects with easy to insert illustrations that appeal to the readers and help to get them to participate, do lessons that can help the students learn on line--and always available. Plus you can make all your lessons available through the social medias and stick them permanently on there. There is no limit to your creativity using Designrr. Hop in and to sky high.
I have taught for 25 years in university formats. Now this is easier to reach the student into a self-teaching mode. Also good for short courses of self improvement in the soft skills because the participant can walk out with the course in his compact recorders or discs. Desginrr is the way to go.

Horrendous UI, very buggy, and buttons are very tricky and unintuitive.

I bought an upsell to create mockups but it leaves a weird margin on the top and bottom, looks completely terrible.

After taking days to respond to a quick question they just condescendingly say that this is how it's supposed to be.

This company offers a lifetime $27 trial fee where they make you think you are on the ground level of trying something new in their product and then 3 days later illegally upgrade you to the $97 annual fee and then continue to charge your card without your permission. Customer service is days of arguing with their "operations manager." They will spend an inordinate amount of time trying to tell you that you authorized the charges when you didn't. Period. I gave them a chance to rectify the situation when I noticed the charges on my year end credit card statements. I reported them as fraud to my credit card company because they refused to stop charging me even though it was clear I was not using their product nor did I authorize the charges. Steer clear of them at any cost! MUCH better products out there with scrupulous business practices. I have an e-commerce business myself and I always find a way to work with the customer if there is any kind of an issue. Their issue is that they make money using these kinds of unethical business practices. SCAM alert. I hope this helps.

Hi Kelly, just responding to these incorrect statements for the benefit of others reading this. When you purchased you CHOSE to upgrade to a 7 day trial of our PRO plan. It charges after 7 days (not 3), we sent you an invoice showing you the exact date of the recharges. During this time you can cancel. BUT even if you forget - and you contact us 30 days after we still cancel and refund it. Even then. If the re-charge goes through a year later... and you forget and contact us within 30 days - we still will refund you.

This business is a complete shambles, from their misleading advertisements to the quality of their products.
The $27 lifetime deal only includes a non-working. Docx formatting tool, basic web converter and other basic tools. The. Docx converter does not format the headlines properly as it sees them as normal paragraphs. The 7-day trial is not really a 7-day trial as, if you cancel the recurring payment with Paypal, they will cancel the subscription immediately (even if you still have the 7 days to try it out).
The customer service is simply non-existent. They couldn't understand the simple fact that a 7-day trial should go for 7 days so that the client could ascertain the value of such "premium tools".

The Director of Operations contacted me subsequent to my complaint with an apology and complimentary upgrade. Another support team member took me through the process of turning blogs into an ebook. The reason for the initial troubles is still unclear though - had to redo the work.
If you are keen on Designrr my recommendation is to proceed with caution. Perhaps they are growing too fast.

Designrr catastrophically poor

The ebook that I published after combining a few blogs was disastrous. Despite the project appearing fine on the preview, after publishing spacing and fonts changed randomly, some quotes became captions and others not, images were dropped. The advice I got from the support chat was to start over.
The support chat claims to respond in < 2 hours - I have issues not responded to after more than a week.
I was advised to book a spot on a support team member's calendar for a zoom meeting which I duly did, at 10 pm my time nonetheless, and got stood up. No response to date, not even an apology for missing it.
I would steer clear of Designrr.
