Feeling ripped off

It is very unclear what you are buying, I just wanted to see the quality of the photos. They charged me card, then would not refund the charge, they admitted I purchased only one image, but charged me for 2 - refused to escalate during the chat. Really a rip off place.

Need Racial Diversity

I love DepositPhotos' prices, but I would like more racial diversity in the photos. There are a lot of Caucasians. Also, the fact that you can sort by race and there are only four options is disappointing. And when I choose 'Asian,' for example, a bunch of white people come up.

SCAM SCAM SCAM
June 22, 2017

A huge SCAM. Stole money after I manually turned off the Auto-Renewal function to find I still got charged again the following month and find that the auto-renewal is back on.
DO not touch this soul sucking thieving business.
I have been caught out twice but no third chances, someone needs to make companies like this pay for all the misleading and blatantly stolen money.

Love this site, I have always found something I was looking for, and I had some really strange client requests. I tried their trial offer, and a representative helped me change it to the kind of subscription I wanted in two minutes. I adjust it as my graphic needs change. Never had a billing problem, never had a file problem, and I got answers to both my questions (in three years!) within two days in email. What’s not to like?

Spammers

I just wanted to buy some quality photos. Their photos are good and the service is as described but they put me on some spam lists and everytime I open my email I've got offers from them. It's just extremely annoying when you trust somebody by giving them your business and they feel that gives them the right 2 load your email inbox with their offers.

DepositPhotos is great for beginners. One of the most simple and clear photo stocks. It accepts almost everything. In addition, it has a very user-friendly interface: how to download, where to click... This is the first photo stock I started to work with.

Buy Cheap, pay dear!

Buy Cheap, pay dear! This company offers a cheap pay-as-you-go system for infrequent users however if you use them infrequently they remove your paid for credits. It's an insane system, it doesn't cost them anything to leave your credits on-site, so why would they just take them from you? They offered me more credits at 10% discount err, no... just give me the credits back that I've already paid for!

Depositphotos just know how to swindle our money.
They continue to charge my card every month without any notice or permission.
I asked support but they refused to refund me the cancellation process is too confusing. I decided to cancel my card and dispute it with the bank.
Overall depositphotos is a total fraud. Terrible customer service and a horrible experience
Stay away from these frauds.

Good

Setting up with DepositPhotos was at first a little tricky as the offer code did not work but customer services eventually corrected this for me. Also my card was not accepted for some reason and I had to switch to paypal. Photos are great and there is a great choice and easily as good as if not better than Adobe Stock and not as expensive.

Images don't appear to be licensed for use on social media. Questions about whether that interpretation was correct went unanswered. Questions about refunds due to an honest mistake of not checking certain things in the terms were ignored. Repeated reminders that I'd made an enquiry continued to be ignored.

Poor Customer Service
October 15, 2021

I have been a customer of shutterstock for years without issue and saw a lot of positive reviews for depositphoto online. I tried them and got the worst customer service ever. I needed one image and could not find a price for single download so I clicked 6 downloads and downloaded other images. The next day I noticed they came out 3 times to the tune of $150 and so I reached out to the customer service desk. They told me I had been mistaken it was 3 for$42 …. Of course the page you clicked on the day before is not a legal doc so you have no proof they sent 3 separate invoices not to my email for the photos. They offered nothing until I said I was posting about the issue and they offered 10 free photo's... I didn't need the 6 of the 7 I downloaded and never got the one I actually needed. So for customer service they get a -1 star from me.

As with many of the reviews here, this company is a con. They signed you up at a low rate, then shake you down by implying to your company that you are using their photos illegally.

On their site, the condition of use said you could use for "print or digital marketing and advertising" up to 500,000 copies by the Standard license. Once you signed up, an account manager will email you and tell you that the Standard license is for "personal" use; if you are using it for business, you need to switch it to a business account to "secure your right." $%#@%! What individual would need to do "print or digital marketing and advertising up to 500,000 copies"? Even if you are selling on eBay, you are a business.

Intellectual property rights should be governed by use, not by who you are, that is discrimination.

What I've been looking for

I've spent years and wasted so much money looking for a stock site that suits my needs for a decent subscription price. Finally found my unicorn with this site! I get 30 high quality photos a month for $29! That's a steal to be honest. I'm delighted and I don't think I'll be using any other stock site for the foreseeable future.

I was prompted to use Deposit Photos by my web designer, and have been very pleased with how easy the process is. I can imagine that depending on your required subject, some images may be more hard to locate, but so far I have been very pleased with what I have downloaded.

I have thoroughly appreciated the affordable rates DepositPhotos has to offer which still keeping high quality in each photo. The experience is very intuitive and easy to understand, even learning the licenses was very easy with their FAQ section. I have chatted with online support and they are always extremely friendly. I've had absolutely terrible experiences with DepositPhotos. They overcharged my credit card after I cancelled my plan and agreed to refund the full price. I waited patiently for the refund and contacted them several times to no avail. Finally, I had a response and was told they would not honor the refund and I had to call my bank to block the payments. Beware, once they have your credit card stored you are going to be charged each month even after removing plans! Stay well away!

I have also had a bad experience with their Payment system.

I bought some Pay-As-You-Go credits and then was billed twice for it. When I queried this they say they auto renew, yet there was nothing on their site that indicated this. They have a no refund policy and would not refund the amount I was billed extra.

It seems as though they deliberately make the subscription info hidden.

What a scam!

I have had two very negative experiences with Depositphotos. First, I fell victim to the same issue that many others have complained about: they set up an auto-renew at the end of every month without making it clear. I had to report them to the Better Business Bureau (where there are PLENTY of other complaints registered!) before they agreed to refund the second month. Secondly, my most recent subscription was supposed to run through June 18th, and most people would assume that means midnight of 6/18. They made my account inactive at around 6:00 p.m. on the 18th. When I complained, they said that they went by exactly what time of day I had started my subscription even though there is no mention of that on their site. The customer service rep I communicated with clearly does not understand the term "customer service." They are a very unprofessional company.

I deposited $100 into my account, added 200 photos to my lightbox only to discover their web site won't let you buy a lightbox like all other photo sites. One has to download each file one at a time. Tech support said that functionality, even through there are buttons on their site to do that, has never worked. Since I don't want to waste 3 hours manually downloading I asked for a refund. They declined saying credits are not refundable. I submitted a dispute with my bank. Stay away from these scam artists.

I was working on a lyric video for a client and needed a photo image. After a search I came on depositphotos and found one I liked. Before making a purchase I did a live chat to verify I could use an image from them without royalty issues in the future. The person I spoke to said it was not a problem and that only a standard licensed would be required for the project. I went head and made the purchase for the standard license as suggested (about $25.00 for 10 images). 45 days later I get an email from their "account manager" saying that in order to avoid future royalty issues with the images I downloaded from them. The cost of the business plan he expects me to purchase is over $800.00. I would welcome them to even attempt to do anything to me or my client as I did screen shot of the discussion with the original rep on live chat. I just wanted to warn people away from this company as in my mind this hinges on extortion.
