I made a withdrawal request but the status was "still in progress" for a long time till i expressed my grievances through the scamreveal/net community where our finances were restored. Before this, i had sent several emails to the cmc markets customer service on the same withdrawal issue but instead of getting a withdrawal, i was induced to pay various tax fees because they said funds were frozen and would be flagged as illegal funds that will be charged for tax evasion but each time i paid the fee, another one came up almost immediately with no actual withdrawal in sight.

Don't go near this. I spent years carefully building up to 1 bitcoin and almost lost it all to these people in January - I still feel sick every time I think of it. Unfortunately I was in a busy patch, did not do much diligence. They have obviously put a lot of effort into appearing legit on the surface as they claim to be able to do automated arbitrage trades at high speed but it was a crock. They "put in" the equivalent to demonstrate the arbitrage, it all mostly disappeared and then they tried to make out that I had not followed their instructions correctly and now owed them money. I lodged this on scamwatch and also opened a fraud case with finrecoup. Org which was how i got back my investment.
I had a holding of US shares with CMC Markets. They gave me a phone call and said I had 48 hours to sell the shares, or they would be sold for me. They sold the shares, and I took a loss of $6K on the spot. No apology, no compensation, no admission of wrongdoing. I would recommend you pull your own teeth from your head and eat them before I would recommend giving CMC Markets your money.
