Total scam!
April 8, 2025

I got ripped off by these jerks. I reported them to the BBB. The owner, and BBB admitted that they were friendly. It's incredible the incriminating evidence both gave me on the phone. It boggles my mind. These guys are crooks! Avoid them like the plague! There were soooooooo many red flags during the transaction. My "associate' lied to me about many, many things. I'm now left with a car w a bent frame! Thanks a ton classiccars! Um no, no thanks whatsoever. I don't know how those people sleep at night. I have a conscience. They do not. Stereotypical used car lot. AVOID!

SCAMS! BEWARE!
April 1, 2021

SCAMS! DO NOT USE! We paid for listings on 3 of our classics that were supposed to run until sold. This was important to us because we are not in a rush to sell and didn't want to be forced to continuously spend money on renewals waiting for our asking price. We spent $1,050.00 on 3 premium listings, yet had our listings removed by support after 2 years. All of a sudden, after more than 2 years, we received an email which states;

"your listing has been flagged by our Safe-n-Secure software. This flagging has resulted in the suspension of your listing."

After contacting support supervisor Laura, we are told this is completely random and flagged by software, won't be relisted, and we are not even entitled to a refund! That is nothing short of fraud.

Make sure when buying a car from Gateway Classic Cars you get outside appraisal and have your mechanic look over the car and test drive it. Be very careful in taking a salesman word or promise. Get as much of the cars passed life and miles. Do not rely on pictures or write up's on their web site. I will be putting a case together against then with the BBB. On one hand they tell me to get estimates on the problems and now their position is sold as is. Would never deal with then again or recommend then. The car I bought I was told had No problems but their were plenty. Horn doesn't work, Car was back firing and idling at 2000 rpm's, the ignition switch was broken and 6 out of 8 plugs are fouled. Also both trans and oil are leaking which I was 5 times are their any leaks in the car-salesman no runs great and last two carbs have to be rebuilt. As far as I can see they check nothing in the car they want to sell you.

I have ran a few adds, all with them making mistakes in add. All my sell prices were average or lower than most. No calls. They have to many money waiting classifications, for the same item Chevy C10 truck mite have 7 different sites for the same item. They are money driven and do not get results. Never again for ClassicCars.com your better off donating your fee to a good cause

Letter i wrote to them...

classiccars.com,

I believe if I had taken that $150+ plus and burned it or threw it in the trash by advertizing with your company,,,,, if it was really true

It would've valued more than spending on your company to advertise this car.

There was not one telephone call not an email inquiring I sometimes think you never bothered placing my contact info, it was just to gain money for nothing, since I posted this ad I don't want to renew it although was under the impression that you paid once until till it's sold but apparently you're charging again and again and again

I think your policy is a rip off. I am not happy at all with your offer. Please remove my name and my ad, and I wish I never paid to advertise with you people I will place the same info on review, I like people to know what a rip off this company is...

I recently purchased a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 from Bobby's Classic Cars via the Classic cars website. I'm an overseas agent and I look search car sites in the US and in Europe to find that perfect car. Bobby's Classic Cars had that perfect car. Bobby's stellar reputation online and among traders in the business inspired confidence in this transaction. During the entire process I felt like I was buying from an old friend instead of a car dealer. I will be making another purchase and there is no doubt who I will go to for my next purchase. FIVE STARS!

Buyer Beware
May 16, 2016

Recently purchased a 1954 Ford F100 from Gateway Classics in St. Louis. The salesman seriously misrepresented the condition of the vehicle. Upon arrival and inspection, the truck steering column needed to be completely rebuilt, needed a new carburetor, rear bed bolts and new air shock hoses. And I'm just getting started. This truck was seriously overpriced. Live and learn. Two lessons learned: Don't buy anything sight unseen and don't buy anything from Gateway Classics. They'll say anything to sell a vehicle.

1960 T-Bird
April 1, 2021

I saw a 1960 T-Bird on one of their sites. It was at their St. Charles. IL location. The salesman Dan Dugo assured me this was a great and rare car. I paid up $22,000 in good faith. When the car arrived the hauler showed me the faults he found at the dealership. There are 30 faults noted and the dealer signed acknowledging them. The hauler used up three of his batteries to get the car started. I have a pile of iron in my yard because it has not started up since. Other than crocked there is little more to be said about these people. Does this happen to all 80 year old 100% Disabled Veterans or just me?

The worst ever
March 31, 2022

I have been dealing with classic cars for over 30 years, I have never experienced such a selfish, self centered company than this one. I recently sent in 4 offers for vehicles, 3 of which were realistic offers, 1 a low ball offer on a crappy car. I recieved a text the next day from some moron stating he couldn't accept my offer on the 1 offer, and made no reference to the 3. What part of the big business picture don't they get. I deal mostly with Gateway classics, and have purchased 5 vehicles from them in the last 3 weeks. Don't deal with these blind, corrupt, sugarcoated losers. Up yours.

Waste of time
November 20, 2019

They would not allow me to list my car because my documents (picture of my title, drivers license, and odometer) didn't "pass the security system" but no one could give me more information as to why I am UNABLE TO SELL A CAR I OWN.
