My book was published by Chipmunka in 2009 and they told me they didn't sell any copies. A complete lie as I had people contacting me telling me they had enjoyed reading my book! This is a complete scam and really sickening to specifically target people with mental health issues.
He runs an intternational scam. Authors will not reeceive a single cent from him. He told me he sold ZERO of my books. I personally know of 18 (friends and family). If he lied about this, no telling how many books he actually sold. I called his printer. They called him to alert him. He came unglued.
I had the pleasure of reading Sally! What a wonderful, challenging story of a women that lives on the street and her bond with a young man! The creation of their relationship is amazing! The story of Sally is one that you will reflect on & hopefully be touched by. The story of Sally is one that you will read & want to read again & share with your friends.
I just ordered Chris Nihmey's other novel, " Two Sides Of The Story " and look forward to reading the struggles and challenges that Chris faces daily!
I'm very glad I found this resource, because it allows me to find a potential audience, to draw attention to some important topics, to look at the successes of other authors - it's interesting!
I found out bout this site cuz I was a mental health volunteer for a charity for long time. Theyre the UKs only FREE publishing site for anyone who's had mental health issues. The founder of the site has been awarded many entrepreneural recognitions and has been on the media often. Its great that the aim of the site is to create an openminded and positive attitudes towards mental health and also to create awareness.
This is a great site that allows you to make yourself known and showcase some of your work. It seems to me that it can really serve as a certain support at the beginning of the career.
It has been ten years since I signed the contract with Chipmunka Publishing. August 29th is the tenth anniversary of Amsterdamned by David Williams. The book started retailing at £12.00 paperback and is now on sale online at £14.00. Despite good reviews of the book I have not received a single penny in royalties in those ten years and I have no idea how many books have been sold. I have contacted them to ask but no reply. They have blocked me on twitter which is hardly a sign of confidence in one of their authors.
The experiences in the book were very painful and detailed a period in my life when I was imprisoned in the Netherlands for experiencing a drug induced psychosis. My actions and words spoken led me into incarceration. I was telling the truth then and I am telling the truth now.
If somebody is making a living or profit on the backs of people in emotional distress, who have suffered with mental illness and were just relieved that someone considered their story worthy of publication. If somebody is creating a writers/publishers contract that doesn't allow for changes or scrutiny then that person must be called to account.
I only give this enterprise one star because I cannot give it a no star rating. Writer Beware.
