I was in my local hospital HR office. A woman came in asking about her application. The HR guru looked and said it had not been received. It turned out she had applied via CareerBuilder. That hospital does not use CareerBuider so my question is - where did the woman's details go?
I have applied for thousands of jobs via careerbuilder. I had only interview invitations from scammers. I have to say that I don't believe CareerBuilder is genuine. Seems to me to be more of a resume harvesting operation for scammers.
This class is the WORST online class I have ever taken! You will wait 48 hours for any help, no instructors during classes all self taught, no videos available to help you understand. Final tests have questions your are not…again self taught with all reading. One "Free" chance to pass boards or you have to pay to retest. Run out of time with the "Year" for the class you have to pay for extension. Great salesman's when you are looking into the class. Please do not donate your hard earned money. Disgusted in this program!
I seen a job I wanted to apply to so I clicked it. When applying it ask you which website you would want to use. Careerbuilder said it was one clique apply. So I chose them. Wrong! Even filling in my info I'm like no way this is legit they don't even ask you the basics, and sure enough when I called the job they could not find me, or even had heard of them for that matters.
After I completed my profile in career builder, I started to get fraudulent texts to my phone with jobs. I was able to speak to the last person and explained that I am an investigator (which is true) and that he is trying to phish or scam and hung up. He called back and threatened my life saying he has my info which is also true. CB did nothing but gave excuses. Never use this site. Never.
Let's remember that at least it's free to receive job notifications from CareerBuilder. The thing that annoys me is that you cannot specify that you only want to see jobs within a certain area.
I continually get emailed jobs that are 2+ hours away from my home and it's a waste of time.
Also, many employers have told me that when they try to look at my resume on CareerBuilder, it's formatted badly and is hard to read as it apparently doesn't look at all like the document I uploaded.
Another thing they need to do is remove jobs that are filled! It's extremely aggravating to go to all of the trouble of filling out an online app just to find out that the position was filled 3 week ago!
But... let's remember, it's still a free service and it doesn't cost anything to look!
CB has a good database of candidates. Having said that, their internal people are 90% incompetent. They have screwed up my account so many times, they call all the time, they don't listen.
Ads don't work, you will get all kind of people that aren't even close.
Since joining this site to try and find a job, I've had nothing but scammers reach out to me. Please avoid this website at all costs! I was on this site for less than a week and I already deleted my account because of all the scammers.
As far as i can tell, careerbuilder is exclusively scams and diversions. To all those looking for employment, this is salt in the wound. Run the other way and spread the word: careerbuilder sux.
Good luck finding some income ELSEWHERE
I signed up for this site thinking it was a legitimate job site and have received a plethora of spam/scam calls and fake job posting emails ever since! Stay far away. I wish I had never made the mistake of giving my info to this site.
As an business owner, I've used this site for recruiting. I got some excellent applicants, and have made a couple of hires. But they're expensive. So, a little over a year ago, I decided to run a side-by-side comparison and advertised the same opening for a $45K/yr salaried business position on careerbuilder.com ($400 cost of ad) and on craigslist ($25 cost of ad). The numbers and quality of applicants were similar. Since then I have done my advertising on craigslist with excellent results.
I definately do not recommend this site. I'm not saying it doesn't work but you do have to go through a lot of loop holes just to apply for the job you want, then you find out that they're not actually hiring at all let alone the position you've applied for. I have yet to find a site that actually is decent for job hunting.
I signed up for a one month job posting. Even after several phone calls and emails to multiple customer service reps, I couldn't get the account cancelled and they kept billing our credit card. The phone reps told us they would refund the money for the additional months, but they never did, and they charged us again for another month. I would not recommend posting anything with this site. I chose a competitor site. I found the other site to be much easier and it was free. Indeed, going to a competitor site was a much better choice for us. I will not do business with Career Builders again.
I posted my resume on CareerBuilder more than a decade ago and was contacted by a recruiter that set me up with an actual, real job that I've kept and been promoted at numerous times over the years. Now that I'm getting ready to go back on the market, I figured I'd post my resume and hope for gold again. That lasted 2 days before I took it down and am trying to delete my account entirely. As soon as I posted it, I started getting calls and text messages for positions that are well outside of what I'm searching for and/or are well below my skillset. They're not targeted outreaches, other than "If you have a pulse, you too can do sales/data entry/customer service, etc." And there's no reason anyone should be asking for my Zoom account credentials! What a shame.
I have been using CareerBuilder for a few weeks now and am extremely disappointed with their service. They send emails that are completely irrelevant to the positions that I am applying for and if applied to via their site, the jobs are never saved for follow-up. I've sent multiple emails to customer service and have yet to receive a response.
I was on the CareerBuilder site. I verified this. I created a profile and applied for a position. Within minutes my phone blew up with phone calls and text messages from all over the United States. At least the phone numbers were from the United States. I believe the callers were not. It has been 36 hours and I have received dozens of texts and phone calls for fake opportunities. I deleted my CareerBuilder account. It still hasn't stopped. Do not sign up for an account with them.
I applied for "jobs" I qualified for, and have since been inundated with phishing emails, scam calls and unsolicited offers for "scholarships" and amazing "work at home" offers earning 55k or more to simply verify products. This site needs to be taken down, and I would like to see a class action suit brought against them. Customer service is a joke. Total waste of time and total scam. Don't give them any information or post your resumes.
Career Builder is a joke of a site and clearly sells your information to scammers. I'm so sick of being contacted by shady numbers to be asked to download zoom, telegram or other messaging apps. They all want to talk over texting with no verifications or face to face or person to person contact.
I really do not recommend creating an account with CareerBuilder.com and adding your personal information. I created mine mid 2019 looking for a new job with an email I use only for medical, school, and job related contact. I have not used it since that time period, I have all the emails from the website programmed to go to a folder instead of to my inbox. Since creating an account, I have always received emails from scammers and phishers. I finally realized a pattern of the emails stating that they're getting my information from CareerBuilders.com. Some may think the phishers/scammer are just guessing that I have an account with them, but I have had too many of them for it to be just a coincidence.
Edit to Add Additional Spam Emails. Also VOID the email it is being sent to that is false and not my email.
I also had a phony account created with my resume. I though it was strange being welcomed to Careerbuilder when I was not looking, and really strange when a recruiter called saying he had seen my resume there. I have reported to them that that account was phony. My family thought it was some recruiter that posted my resume, but after seeing seeing a similar review here, Im not so sure.
They keep sending me e-mails that say "such & such company" is "interested" in me. And, the jobs are invariabley way below my skill level, education, and pay. I have an MBA and over 20 years of senior level experience; minimum pay is $100K/yr or $50/hr. And, they send me factory jobs, truck driving jobs, jobs that pay minimum wage. My resume is on there, and it's very clear they're not reading it and just want a warm body!
Answer: The site exposes you to phishing companies from other countries. Apply at your own risk!
