Avon, Ohio Boat Service and Sales - INCOMPETENT
March 23, 2024

Would NEVER recommend buying a boat from this place and definitely would not recommend getting your boat serviced here unless you enjoy excuses, lies, deceit, carelessness and inexperience. We bought a Tracker boat five years ago, Cabelas Service Center has had my boat in three times for a console that was cracked and under warranty. After waiting SEVERAL months for the console to come in, they have cracked it while trying to install it twice, the third time they were unable to put it in altogether telling me my boat is "off". The acting service manager at the time, as they do not seem to have a steady service manager, told my husband, that they have been in this field a long time and the are over "98.5%" sure that when they send my boat back to White River, the manufacturer, since Cabelas Service had yet to successfully install the consoles, that we would most likely get a new hull because the acting service manager feels that there is structural damage to my boat and walked me around my boat showing me the possible damage, pointing out his vast knowledge of what appeared to be to him structural damage. My boat goes to White River and once the staff has a chance to look at it they install the console and ship it back within 1 1/2 weeks and indicate that there is not structural damage. Boat is back in Ohio at Cabelas, now we are told that the base plate for the seat did not come back from the manufacturer when they shipped my boat back and oh, yeah we can't find the boat keys you gave us back in the beginning of December when you dropped your boat off, why yes it is now the end of March and have not had my boat since the beginning of December and they cannot find the boat seats either that they removed from the boat prior to shipment to the manufacturer. We are now told today, still waiting on that base plate, that if the base plate is not here by Tuesday they will remove one from the showroom floors boats and install it. I do NOT understand why this cannot be done today, as we were there today and it is not a 'right down the road trip' for us and you have had my boat for the 3rd time for the same thing and have had it for a total of over one year for this console issue. Meanwhile we continue to pay for a boat that we have physically had for 4 of the 5 years we have owned it. Customer service is NOT top priority at least when it comes to their boats and service of the boats that you purchase brand new from them. Hoping to have the boat back as promised on Tuesday, without the lies and excuses, but lessons learned is not to ever count on anything that comes out of the boat sales or service departments mouth. The store and staff of the store itself has always been great, have bought fishing stuff, hunting stuff, guns and other merchandise and never had a problem. Be leery of buying boats from here unless you go elsewhere for any warranty issues, preferably a boat repair shop that knows what they are doing, won't BS you or tell you that your boat has structural damage unless they know for sure, won't give your equipment (batteries) that was removed from your boat to someone that comes in off the streets regardless of their relationship to you, without double checking with the boat owner first if that is acceptable or not and won't lose the keys to your boat.

Tulalip, WA Boat Shop Terrible Customer Service (x2)
July 23, 2022

They had my boat (Tracker V18 Targa) for 3-weeks. They were scheduled to have it for 2-weeks. They advised that the time to do the work was not much. I had scheduled with the shop manager for the work to be completed and when. When I dropped it off 6-days later, the asst. Shop mgr. Didn't know why my boat was there and the parts had not been ordered. They advised that they would get the parts ordered and the work completed. They were unresponsive to voicemails, and e-mails when my boat was supposed to be ready. 4-days after that, they called to advise that the work had not yet been started as the parts they ordered were taken for another customer. Having had a previous poor customer service there I went to the shop to see what work had been completed in the 3-weeks that they had it. Nothing had been done. I asked the asst. Shop manager why, to which they advised that they are told what their priorities are and that my boat was not a priority. The asst. Shop manager was trying themselves to install a float switch to my existing bilge pump (I had advised that I wanted an integral unit, not an add-on), however they couldn't figure it out as they were looking to attach it to the livewell pumps. This led to another dicuscussion which determined that this individual is not a qualified technician, and should not be working on boats, let alone life-safety equipment on boats. They also lied about perfroming the work related to inspection and oil changes. Cabela's Tulalip and their corporate head office have been advised of this. The strore manager is on holidays, however I have not heard from the boat manager, or the shop manager who were included on the communications. My previous experience was in 2020 when I ordered parts for the same boat and they advised that the wrong parts had arrived and didn't fit. There was also one part that came in that was incorrect based on the description to which Cabela's agreed, however they still wanted me to pay for it, and then suggested I could try to sell it online. I love my Tracker V18 Targa, however Cabela's or Bass Pro will never see any of my business again.

DO NOT PURCHASE A BOAT - LEMON
April 18, 2022

Wife of my husband whom purchased a boat from a 6.5 Billion dollar company and is sold a lemon for a boat. Z18 2022. I will give you a time stamp of major highlights.
Brandon Salesman was phenomenal he needs a raise and a different position. The rest is a BUST!
3/17 picked boat up
3/21 return boat because it left us stranded in the middle of a lake on our 3rd day out. Had to ride 2 hrs on a trolling motor to get back to dock.
4/6 Brandon called to give update
4/8 John called to tell me he didn't have any news on part
4/12 Evette told me in store that it would be middle of May before they could get part from mercury but that was a estimate.
Might I add…. When trying to purchase certain features for this boat, I was told that it wasn't available due to the Masters going on in SC and couldn't sell it to me incase they needed it for them! Example: Lowrance HDS Live fish finder. They were in stock but on hold due to Masters being in SC.
Prime season for fishing and my husband and I are left sitting making payments on a boat we currently and still do not have!
I would suggest DO NOT BUY A BOAT HERE. THEY WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP IT OUTSIDE, NOT COVERED, GETTING WEATHERED……. Because WE kept it in our garage & still am told they still have no parts to fix the lemon we were sold. AGAIN MAKING PAYMENTS ON A BOAT WE CANT GET BACK BECAUSE ITS A LEMON! Also as bonus* we got the the loan for the boat on 03/07. They did not have our boat ready until 03/17/2022. So stay clear……. DO NOT BUY A BOAT FROM HERE. Spare yourself the pain! Making payments on a boat we don't have! FYI CABELAS IF YOU WANT TO BUY IT BACK, YOU CAN AND SHOULD because this is bad business! Unprofessional! And I will never buy another thing from here! Below is the boat purchased in Fort Mill!

Avoid Cabela's!
June 28, 2021

The short answer: Cabela's s***s!

I bought a pair of Cabela's stocking foot waders about 5 years ago for fly fishing. My prior waders had been a pair of neoprene boot-foot from Cabela's. I got around 20 years out of them, so I expected new ones to last as well. I am busy, so am lucky if I get out once or twice a year. There are years are do not get out at all. The left leg of the new waders started leaking after the 3rd or 4th use. This was completely unacceptable, but I did not feel like dealing with their Customer Service, and didn't try to return them. The next year, the right leg started leaking. The old ones had also leaked in one leg—but not until I had used them many more times—and that leak was intermittent. Sometimes they leaked, sometimes they did not. I was hoping the leaks in this pair would be intermittent—but they are not.
I called their Customer Service recently to see about getting a refund. Apparently, Cabela's used to have a lifetime warranty on waders, but does not any more. The CS rep said that—since I do not have a receipt—I should take them to a local store. She said that if they did not show inappropriate wear, the store would refund my money. That seemed liked good customer service. These waders are immaculate. After each use, I dry them in my living room (and on my balcony, if it is nice) for days. I turn the cuff inside out. After the entire outside is dry, I turn the waders completely inside out and let the inside dry. I store them in a bag, in a closet in my living room.

I have tried to find the leaks by holding them under running water in the tub. Nothing. I suspect the leak is at the seam with the stocking foot. That is about the depth of water they start to leak in. But there is nothing apparent.

The experience at the store today in Sun Prairie was nothing short of horrible. The young gal at the desk—without even looking at them—said there was nothing she would do. I had to beg her to get a manager. A manager was paged. He—Doug, his name tag said—rolled his eyes at my tale of woe. He said the issue was no receipt, then said even with a receipt it had been too long. Though they were likely purchased during the era when the lifetime warranty was still being offered, he would not honor that. He also refused to look at them, and said how I cared for them and the number of uses were irrelevant. The amount of elapsed time was the issue. What a douche bag! I hate being lumped in with people who abuse a store's return policy. I get why time limits exist—though it should not apply to these waders. A return policy should be tailored to the individual, and the item in question. He offered me $50—take it or leave it.

I left it. And will not go back. This company s***s. Bass Pro has ruined what used to be a high quality business. And their CS people need some training.

OH! Doug's comeback was to tell me I was a jerk for not trying to get my money back on the Gander Mountain carry bag I used for my waders. A bag, mind you, that was bought in 1988—and is in perfect shape. Thank you, Gander Mountain.

Terrible Customer Experience
September 16, 2020

We have had the worst customer experience at Cabela's. Not just one, but a series of them, compounded today by a completely inadequate complaint resolution call with a supervisor named Mallory. We have been loyal customers of Cabela's for many years, spending quite a bit of money over the years. We are no longer going to be customers of your store, or Bass Pro. #bassproshop and #cabelas clearly do not value customer relationships or customer experience. #terriblecustomerservice #Complaint #NeverShoppingHereAgain #dontshophere #inadequate
