Never again!
December 15, 2022

I made the mistake of ordering a set of commemorative coins, at the request of my wife, using my smart phone. It took a month and a half before I was notified by e-mail that the first of the series had been shipped, and another month before I received it. Only when I read the receipt that came with it did I realise that I had authorised the Bradford Exchange to take payment from my credit card for an unspecified number of items, at unspecified intervals, over an unspecified period of time! I went to the website to check, and sure enough, there was no information as to how many items were in the series. I had assumed that I would at least be advised when the next item was available and would be given the opportunity to approve payment. I sent a message through the company's website voicing my concerns and asking how many items the series consisted of and how much it would cost me. I received a reply from somebody who clearly had not read my message and did not reply to my question. I responded asking her please to reply to the question I had asked, and two days later I got a reply from a second rep (let's call him "D") saying, "you have already received a reply from one of our representatives". I replied, pointing out that the first rep had NOT answered my question, and asking D to read my previous two messages and reply to my questions. Two days later D e-mailed me again, still did NOT answer my original question, and merely informed me that the next item in the series had been shipped, something I could see for myself by logging on to may account online. I wrote back pointing out that he had still not replied to my question. He had, however, advised me that I could cancel my subscription at any time. Since he had told me that if I had any questions, he would be pleased to answer them, I asked him how I would go about cancelling. I did NOT ask him to cancel my order, as I was trying to make up my mind whether to continue or to cut my losses. In the meantime, the second item turned up, and the shipment included a display case with space for 15 coins. This at least gave me an indication of just how much I had committed myself to paying. I reluctantly decided that, since I now had two coins from the series, I may as well receive all 15 items, but two days later I received another e-mail from D, finally informing me that the series consisted of 16 coins (I'm not sure why the box only has room for 15), and advising me that he had CANCELLED my subscription, "as requested"! I had actually decided that I might as well accept that I was going to have to pay something like $1400, but thanks to D's total inability to read and respond to the customer's enquiries, I was now left with two coins and a box for 15. I wrote back and told him that I had NOT asked him to cancel my subscription! All I did was ask him how I would go about this. He did say I could resume my subscription later if I chose to, but as I said to him, I wouldn't take that chance, as it would probably be misunderstood and I would end up paying for the whole series again from the start.

So, not only did D ensure that I will NEVER again order anything from the Bradford Exchange, but he also lost well over a thousand dollars for his employer!

I have nothing to say about the Bradford Exchange's products (though a lot of them seem to me to be rather tacky), but frankly, the information given on their website and in their catalogue is inadequate and misleading. Moreover, their customer service is probably about the worst I have ever been subjected to. And believe me, I have experienced a LOT of really bad service!

To be on the safe side, I asked D to confirm that my subscription was, indeed, cancelled and that he would not make any further changes to my account. Not surprisingly, five days later I have received no reply.

DONT DO IT!
December 11, 2022

Before placing your order please read this review! I have never experienced such awful customer service and issues with an order before.

I placed my initial order on12/5/22 with an arrival date of 12/13 - 12/16 for 3 items. On 12/6/22 I received an email from Bradford Exchange stating I needed to call customer service. I do and they tell me my shipping address needed to be fixed. I get my address fixed and the lady tells me she'll process my payment. I see on my Bradford Exchange account that my shipping date now says 1/15/2023! I call back and this agent tells me that the previous one I spoke with did not process my payment. He takes my credit card information over the phone and tells me everything is good to go. He said I would receive a email with 1-2 days. I never get an update. So on day 2 I call again to ensure the order processed okay. This agent tells me that it did and I should get an email soon. I explain that when I initially ordered the items that there were pending charges on my account, but now they're gone. I am getting upset that my order is not going to arrive on time. So I re-order my items on 12/8 and the charges pend immediately. I call to cancel my first order and they said it was successfully canceled and I should receive an email soon. It's now 12/11, no update email from my 1st or 2nd order. Customer service emails me stating I have enrolled in a monthly subscription plan (I NEVER selected this option) for each item I ordered there is a monthly collection I can receive for $200 per MONTH! Needless to say I canceled my order and now I am heading into a boutique where my business matters.

So please if you are reading this, save yourself a hassle and do NOT order from Bradford Exchange!

Emails below show my "subscription plan" is canceled, but the 2nd email from customer service states otherwise. They are scamming the elderly who do not monitor their bank accounts as often.

Edit 12/12: I have now been charged twice for items I have "canceled". I called customer service on why I am being charged twice for these orders. I asked for verification that the items have been canceled and was told that they do no do any verification. I asked why I was being charged again on items I did not purchase & was promptly hung up on.

Tip for consumers:

Please don’t do it. Find another site or boutique to order from.

Ordered Christmas items and canceled my entire order.

MAJOR SCAMMERS WITHOUT ANY COMPASION. Collection Agency may also be in their pockets?
August 18, 2022

I would rate NEGATIVE 5 but didn't have option as minimum is 1 to be able to write a review...
My Mom is 98 since April 2022. Earlier this year as I was going through her accounts, I found cashed checks totaling over $600 to Bradford Exchange. (Coins they would send and bill later for).
She tried to stop them by returning a coin and writing to not send anymore unless she specifically asked for more.(Care giver assisted her as Mom was embarrassed to advise us what was going on.)
A collection letter showed up to pay around $81 or collection proceedings would commence?
When I called Bradford's listed number I was prompted to dial 2030 for which I would be charged a$5.00 fee? After a phone number search, and a few attempts, leaving call back numbers, and waiting on hold multiple times for up to 1 hour, a man finally answered.
After I explained the situation, the man confirmed they did receive previous payments, BUT never got the last 2 coins back and so money was due. I explained how coins were actually returned and theoretically, I could have just claimed we never received the coins he was claiming he sent. I told them they already got over $600 from my mom and asked them to credit the account and close the collection agent file.
He arrogantly refused... I told him I would then take the option of returning ALL the coins and asking for the full refund as their advertisements claim you have 365 days to return everything for full refund. He placed me on hold and I thought that would work but he came back to me and said... OK. Return everything and he would send us a refund once they got everything back? I cant trust them and didn't want to pursue this further with them as they would just claim the same thing that they never got anything back... They weren't going to do anymore except continue to demand payment.
I called collection agent (Kingston Data And Credit) who were also of no assistance. You had to leave messages for them to call back and when they did, they said I couldn't talk on my mom's behalf, SO, I went back to her apartment where now, no one answered... They called me to say they called her for permission, but she claimed she didn't know what it was about and couldn't reply without me (98 years old and now afraid of phone scammers so doesn't entertain their questions). I went back to her condo and called again and got someone, who checked with Mom that it was OK to talk for her. THEN, they said... SORRY... They couldn't cancel anything as I would have to get it cleared up with Bradford Exchange. I said, well, to never expect a payment as Bradford made the error. Fast forward about 3 months later, and we received a threatening letter stating we had 7 days to pay or we'd be reported, we'd have a bad credit rating listing which could take up to 7 years to clear up once settled. Mom is 98 years old and with over 50 years with credit cards, her own business, etc. And never a bad credit issue, near end of her life, this was unacceptable... SO, since I was away, I instructed my sis to just pay it. Now, I called back and got a supervisor at Bradford Exchange who seems to be more compassionate then previous people I dealt with. She agreed to cancel final bill we just paid, but she claims they never got the payment for. Once I send proof, she says she will refund the amount? Proof being sent tomorrow.
The amount of time we expensed in resolving this issue is worth hundreds of dollars if not more, but finally, it may be over soon. I wouldn't deal with this type of company ever again and hope my story is fair warning for all others..

Scam
April 9, 2020

Rating 4.3 is obviously fake.
I ordered Modern Marine for my son. He was happy with that. Then they sent duplicate and charged on my credit card again. It was returned via enclosed return label USPS tracking #**************697 (1/28/2020). No refund yet. I just got new invoice. (4/09/2020)
Don't trust this company.

MISLEADING ADVERTISEMENT ON BRADFORD WEBSITE
March 5, 2018

I came across their website 4 months ago. I really liked what they were showcasing on their website. I decided to order a list of the items that caught my eye. I placed the order in December. I made the habit of checking the status of my order frequently. Some of the items on my list were due to ship 2 months from the date I had placed my order. They charged me over $100.00 alone in shipping costs and I still had to wait longer for the items to ship out. There were numerous times I tried contacting Bradford with unsuccessful results. When some of my items finally started shipping out, some of items took longer to arrive. When I contacted Bradford for tracking details. They advised that they didn't have a tracking number to give me to track where my order is. They didn't have a tracking number on file for any of my orders. When the items finally arrived, they looked absolutely nothing like the picture on their website. The picture of the item displayed on their website is just so they can lure people to buy them. They make the item seem better and bigger but if I was ever to see 90 percent of the items I bought on that website, I would have never paid a dime for them. Then they ended up cancelling one of my orders. When I called them about it, they advised that the item was sold out and they would never be getting more in stock. The woman advised me that Bradford would send me a letter confirming the item was out of stock. Weeks later I got a e-mail from the Bradford website saying that the item was available! Finally, the last item that arrivedcame broken. I returned it back to them (I was able to keep the tracking number for the item and it only took a week for them to receive it). IT TOOK THEM OVER A MONTH TO ISSUE ME A REFUND! I was appalled. Why is it that they will charge a credit card immediately when a item is shipped but to return a customer's money, they will take their sweet time. I contacted Bradford about 20 different times regarding my refund before I received it. Why is it that I am able to track my return but I can't track my purchase! I don't recommend buying anything from this company. The item you want will not be what it looks like and customer service is not their first priority. Their first priority is to take your money every which way they can. I will never waste my money on their garbage again!

Awful company
January 18, 2018

I will never ever shop with or trust this company again. Last August i placed an order for a set of Disney pin badges. On the photo it shows you a box of about 12 beautiful badges from different disney films throughout the year in a display box for £59.97 which i had been admiring for a while so i decided to purchase this. A few weeks later i received an email from the company letting me know that the item was not currently ready to be dispatched so they cancelled my order and did not take anything off my card. Oh how i really wish i had left it at that. I called the company and asked them why they had cancelled my order as i would still like to keep the order on hold and have the items when they arrived in stock. So they kept my order on hold and finally they took the money and delivered to me in November. I got home and saw the size of the box that my items were in and i knew instantly that something wasn't right. I opened the box to find 4 badges out of the ones i had ordered had arrived in the post. I tried to call the company for about 2 weeks after this and sent them 2 emails in that space and time to which i had no response. When you call the Bradford Exchange nobody ever answers the phone and you get an automated message which asks you to leave your contact number and explains that they will contact you back within the next 8 working hours. I must of called them 3 times in the space of 2 weeks and left my details and i didnt get a single call back. I don't know what made me think of trying it but i went on the bradford exchange fackebook page and sent them a message on there where i finally got a reply. Turned out that the badges i ordered came in the post 4 at a time and every time they sent me some the price was £59.97 EACH TIME. When i first placed this order it certainly said nothing about this on the website and if its showing a photo of the items in a box together, that is how you would imagine them to arrive with you. I requested a refund with the sales operator and asked her to cancel the rest of the collection as i was surely not paying that amount each time for the badges. She assured me that the refund had been done and i had been waiting weeks for this. I tried to contact them on facebook again only to be ignored on there this time so i had to contact my bank in the end to get my money back as i had luckily used a credit card for this transaction. Never again will i trust this company or order anything from them again and i advise others to do the same. I really don't know how this company is still running.

They are clearly scammers!
January 7, 2018

I could absolutely kick myself for not researching this company as I normally do when making purchases online.

I made a purchase of a realistic looking doll and a music box both totalling £206.91 on the 10th of December 2017. The doll took approximately a week and a half to arrive. The doll alone including shipping was over £140.

The doll came and as soon as I opened the packaging I was disappointed, disappointed about the fact that the doll looked anything but real. The doll was just a beautiful doll that you could get in a regular toy shop for £45 max! The leg was just attached to a cloth body making the leg look dangly! I was not happy about the misinformation on the description. When my husband arrived home and saw the box on the kitchen table he asked me if the doll came and I said yes, he said to me so how come you havent wrapped it and put it away. I said to him look at it and tell me what you think. He did and he said to me what is it... doesnt it look real? I said exactly! If youre a man and you can tell that then its obvious. I wasnt happy because thats not what I wanted. I wanted a real looking doll for my toddler to have that she could pass on to her family when she grows up. It was nothing but a regular doll that said on the box made in China. The music box when it arrived two weeks later was without the engraved name tag and looked like something from the sixties and not appropriate for a child... I think that was when my husband realised that the company was a fraud as he said the box looked like something you could purchase for £2 at a carboot let alone over £60 including shipping.

When I received the doll I emailed them to let them know that I received the item and I was not happy... there was no automated response or a direct response even after almost four weeks later. Needless to say I did not email them when I received the music box as I realised then it was their policy to ignore complaints. A week after the music box arrived I returned both of them, thankfully keeping the receipt that was on the 27th of December 2017. I have had no acknowledgement of receipt and I checked the tracking on Royal Mail website and they were both delivered about three days later.

There has been nothing from them. Ironically I received an email from an independent website that sells stuff from China and the same doll was on it for £43... negative to that doll.

Luckily I paid through PayPal and that was deliberately done for a just in case. I generally dont return stuff so Ive never had to use PayPal Resolution Centre. They are yet to even respond to PayPal... but Im not worried as I still have my Royal Mail receipt and I know PayPal will process the refund. They have until a week to respond so Im awaiting the response and my refund.

Please be warned... DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM! They have made a very eye catching and well designed website but they are fictitious. Very deceitful in their descriptions and dishonest as they take your money and doesnt want to have and further correspondence when they know youre not going to be happy. Im going to report them to Trading Standards and I will be doing a review on my channel on YouTube to warn people to stay away from them.

I will update when I receive my money, otherwise I will be driving up there to demand a refund in person!

Do not do business with this company
December 30, 2015

I have a few words to say about this company. I've worked for them as a customer service representative, and left the company for a number of reasons, not least of which was their bad business ethics.

First of all. I collect stuff, and I like high quality merchandise (tools, clothes, whatever). I understand the value of paying more for something that is clearly better than something that costs less. Pay more money for a nice shirt, and you just might get a shirt that wears better, lasts longer, and looks nicer than the shirt that costs less. This is not so with the Bradford Exchange. With this company, you are paying more money for less. Everything that you can get from Bradford Exchange is available somewhere else for less money better quality.

This only applies to the stuff that Bradford sells but is available through other retailers. There's plenty of stuff sold through Bradford Exchange that is exclusive to them, and I guarantee that this exclusive merchandise is also low quality. We're talking about reproductions of canvas art prints that light up with LEDs, sculptures that have other artwork printed on them, circulated coins that have stickers of Obama fastened to them thus making them "limited edition" and therefore worthy of a high price tag. None of this stuff is low-priced, but all of it is very cheap. Go ahead and buy that nice shirt because it just might give you that extra value, but none of Bradford's products are worth their dollar value. I mean absolutely none. And think of the target market of this company, based on the kinds of customers who would call into me with orders or concerns: Senior citizens on fixed incomes who wanted to spend their pension checks on something nice. This was one of the reasons I quit the company. I hated selling stuff that has absolutely no value. Not functional, not collectible, nothing. I hated selling junk, and that's what this company sells. And I hated selling this stuff to people who are likely to get ripped off. I hated preying on the elderly.

Next, I absolutely have to mention the horrendous customer service policy this company has. Yes, you can return your product for a 100% refund, free of shipping. Yes, if your personalized item is broken or done incorrectly, you can get a replacement free of charge and keep the broken/incorrect item you received. That sounds like a lot, but as far as customer service goes, that's not enough. Christmas guarantees with this company mean absolutely nothing other than a refund of your money or a cancellation of your order. The item you ordered that was guaranteed for Christmas has just gone on backorder and it's one week before Christmas? Don't expect to get any notification about this so that you can figure out a backup plan for your kid's/relative's Christmas gift. This goes beyond the extent of Bradford's customer service policy (again, not reaching nearly far enough, in my opinion). And while it's not the end of the world if you don't get it by Christmas, you are absolutely right to expect to receive it by Christmas, and if you don't get it by Christmas, you are absolutely right to expect some form of compensation that goes beyond a refund or more crappy merchandise. You are also absolutely right to expect a notification if your item has gone on the list of backorders that will not be arriving for Christmas. Unfortunately, the only consolation that Bradford Exchange can offer you is free shipping and sometimes a discount on more of their other items (read previous paragraph on why this is not desirable compensation). Again, here's another reason I left the company. I didn't like ripping off customers, even if it wasn't actually me that was doing it. I didn't like being the hand of the thief who reached into your pocket and took your cash.

More on customer service. Customer: "I got this train set for my kid, I paid $89.95 for it, but I only got one piece. Where's the rest of it?" Me on the phone: "Unfortunately sir, that was $89.95 for one piece of the train. There are 22 pieces in total. It will cost you at least $449.75 to have a train that works, and $1978. 90 to have the complete train. And it will take you almost two years to get the whole train unless you pay for all of the pieces right now. I can take your credit card number if you're ready." What's with this marketing? Although it does sort of indicate on the website that the prices for train sets are on individual cars and not the whole train, why are the descriptions of the items designed to trick people into thinking that those prices are for whole sets of trains? As ridiculous as this sounds, I would consistently get phone calls every day from customers who thought they were getting the whole set when instead they only paid for one piece. And the customer's reaction to the reality of the situation and the full price of what the customer was expecting was always the same: Shock and disgust, both of which were reactions that I sympathized with. Moreover, many customers had no idea they had actually subscribed to ordering the series, so within a month they were shipped another piece of the set and had their credit or debit cards charged with the bill. Ever had your bank account overdrawn, or had your credit card charged on the day that you needed to pay the rent? If you've ordered from Bradford Exchange, you probably have, and if you haven't yet, you probably will soon. Another reason I left this company. I hated responding to customers who had been tricked or lied to by my company. I hated wrecking people's finances with tricky marketing.

I've worked customer service before. I've dealt with customers who have put money on the line, not gotten what they wanted, and became very upset. In the past I've always felt that I did the best I could to help my customers, that there was a way I could fix their issues and offer them the service they wanted at a price they could afford. Not with Bradford Exchange. This company is designed to trick people into spending their money on high-priced, low-quality merchandise. It targets people who are in need: Elderly persons with low income, families who desperately need Christmas gifts, veterans who served their country, and all other people who are in an emotional state that precludes them towards spending money. Isn't this basically what every company does? Yes, to some extent. But Bradford Exchange is much more insidious. Take my advice, do not learn the hard way. This is not a business you want to deal with.

Tip for consumers:

Seriously, stay away from this company, and tell your friends and family to do the same. That's the best advice I can give you regarding this Bradford Exchange.

My Bradford Exchange Experience
May 11, 2015

I am a first time customer of the Bradford Exchange and my experience was just downright terrible.

I ordered this ring to give to my mother on Mother's Day and so I ordered it 7 days before Mother's Day so that it would have more than enough time getting to me.

I purchased from the Bradford Exchange because they guaranteed that the ring would get here before Mother's Day and also they promised that the ring would ship out with FedEx Express shipping.

Immediately after purchasing the ring I contacted the Bradford Exchange letting them know how important it was that I receive this ring before Mother's Day and they replied with some generic copy and paste message letting me know that I will be 100% satisfied guaranteed.

I received a FedEx tracking number the next day letting me know that a shipping label had been created. Four days later it was Thursday and the tracking hadn't updated from "Shipping label created" I was getting a little nervous and contacted the Bradford Exchange regarding shipping.

No reply and two hours later the tracking number finally updates letting me know FedEx has received the package and it will be here one day AFTER Mother's Day! I was not too happy to see that as this gift was very important, but what let me down the most was I took another look at the FedEx tracking and realized that this was not FedEx Express shipping as promised but this was the cheapest form of shipping FedEx SmartPost which takes 2-7 business days to be delivered.

I felt kind of lied to well I guess actually I was lied to, there is no other way to put it. I contacted the Bradford Exchange a third time and well four days later I still have not heard anything from them. I guess they figure "hey we have his money just ignore him now".

I decided to go and pick up the package on Saturday a day before Mother's Day as I saw that the package was in my city and well it was a must that I get it before Mothers Day.

What I have to say to the Bradford Exchange is that you may think it is okay to promise something or make a guarantee and not follow through with it and just ignore your customers but you need us customers. We have a choice to do business with you or with someone else.

I took a screenshot of their website a day after I placed the order for the ring and as you can see at the very top it says "Today is the LAST DAY to Order for Mother's Day Delivery with Express Shipping"

Thank you for reading my experience with the Bradford Exchange.
