Like many new businesses, I was convinced that Yelp would be the answer for getting new clients to use my services. I signed on early December 2022. I received my first bill payment (automatic) and noticed it was for $535, but I already paid $272 and $17. I received one job lead from them, which made $150 total. So once I realized that it was not worth using their services, I cancelled Jan 19th. Then I got a final bill of $625 due. This was for only 19 days of services that netted ZERO job leads. What a joke, I ended up settling for 30% less because I pay my debts but still $435 for nothing gained in return. I paid $1239 total with only a $150 return. That is only a 12% Return on Investment. I was promised much better. I literally wrote a blank check. I definitely do not recommend their services or any other lead generating services.
Yelp sales invited us to try their business ads, after I tried for a month for $450, I found they can not bring any real order, just a couple of inquiries with no real intention, I stopped their ad service plan on January 2021(Attached image). And they didn't bill me since February. Today, when I checked my account, I found they have started to bill me $450 monthly since June. This is ridiculous, I never know leaving YELP a credit card is so risky! They can bill you monthly without your knowledge at all! Actually, someday in May, one of their sales emailed me to tell me to finish my business's ad page and turn on it. I didn't reply to her, did she turn on the Ads in order to finish her sales quota?
A sales rep name Anthony gave me a call. Had me set up yelp ads and mentioned the first 6 months will be covered up to $150 a month. He mentioned I won't be charged a thing. After 3 days I was charged $175.37 for 13 people clicking my ad. That's roughly $14/click and didn't get one client. After call Yelp to fix things they said no refund and now I get 0 of the credit and must pay the entire amount. Will never do business with Yelp again
Yelp's algorithm to determine reviews is so broken it is unbelievable. Our company received two very negative reviews from users with little to no activity. They were very clearly from their tenor and wording written by competitors trying to smear us. When we filed grievances with yelp we were denied. Meanwhile we have three times as many positive reviews as negative, yet only ONE is showing as recommended. Customers who we work for go on yelp the same day to leave a review and within a day or two it is discarded. Yelp claims their profiles are not valid enough, yet the one-star reviews they keep are even though they have the same activity?!?!
If I could delete our business from Yelp I would in a second. If I never have to talk to one of their obnoxious people on the phone again it will be too soon.
Worst experience ever.
I can't believe how unethical this site is for business owners! They use this so called filtering system for user reviews when in fact it's just a cover for extorting businesses for money. I just hope that people continue to sue them and spread the word.
The irony that Yelp actually has the worst customer service is more than funny, its sad. Their sales people stalk you like a cult. They are relentless in harassing you until you sign up. They promise everything and as soon as you sign up and give them your credit card, they disappear. They don't pick up the phone for support but they do for sales. If they have a resolution to your issue, it will come with an additional fee. Its so upsetting to get hustled by a service that's supposed to encourage better service, better business & customer relationships. Not with Yelp. They are just as shady as any crooked business out there, if not worse.
The Rep will call you and persuade you into getting a advertisement. She will put you on a extremely high budget but give u discounts, which don't matter to how much your paying monthly. They are fraud! Terrible company and have not attempted to refund me..
I had started a trial of Yelp for Business and according to Yelp stats I had 8.8k page impressions, 64-page visits, and 11 leads generated from their platform. According to my back-end statistics, there was not a single event tracked from Yelp to my website nor did I get any leads from them either. I contacted support because they billed me over $150 for this and was told by them that their numbers are based on yelp views and clicking on their site nothing else. They refused to refund any of my charges and the customer support is crap.
First off they never mention that EVERY single time some one clicks on you're profile it charges you're credit card $10-19.99! They said I had a free trial and I cancelled after 24 hours and they charged me 120$! They should be put out of business.
Yelp could easily provide a transparent statement or billing tracker to show current billing and credits. They choose not to and consequently you get no communication other than a big bill at the end of the month. They also make the add-on items easy to overlook the impact they will have on your total bill. They are friendly when you call about it but unwilling to make any adjustments and just make lame statements about being able to calculate the total based on the daily budget which is technically true but not a customer friendly way to manage billing.
As a small business owner I have plenty of other things to track and Yelp should be embarrassed by their billing process.
I was charged hundreds of dollars for "clicks" on my account. As a CUSTOMER you can never see who those "clicks" came from.
In total I received actual calls from 2 "leads" that went nowhere. Total nuts.
I suspect that the Sales Associates are monitoring (clicking on) accounts for the commission. Who knows, since you aren't allowed to see that information.
Two months and over $500 in charges. Rip off.
Same thing as everyone else is writing. I was told to take advantage of $300 in free leads and that i could cancel at by just going to Yelp Ads Page online and "End Campaign". The funny thing is that i did that in February 2018. I totally discarded it. Then on my credit card statement i see a bill from Yelp for $863 for the month of March. I had to call in and talk to someone. Funny how this time while someone was on the phone with me, i got a confirmation email that the campaign was cancelled. I called the billing department twice and it's like they have a script in front of them. No one was willing or wanting to help me.
STAY AWAY!
They charge you a ridiculous amount of money. They make spectacular claims. Then you get nothing from them. Not one contact in 3 months. Now I owe Yelp over $1,000, and never made a cent from their useless business page. Once they get your card. They just charge away. I tried to cancel after the first month. It's just a money pit. Stay away at all cost.
I am a small business owner and I signed up Yelp for business few months ago due to their promotion for free $300 advertising money. I tried to set up my account and found it way too complicated so I quit before I finish. Unfortunately, I already entered my credit card information. After that, I never heard from them again. Later on. When i noticed charges showing on my Visa card, I called Yelp. They wont't do anything to help me and the guy hanged up on me when I asked to speak to his supervisor.
I am a small business owner. They told me that I would get $150 in ad credit towards every month. I had the $450/mo plan. Next thing you know, its been a month, no customers out of it, and a $600 charge to my credit card which my cc company declined. F**k Yelp. Excuse my language but that company needs to get shut down.
I gave a try twice to this company but they never delivered what they promised. When one complain, they are playing with word as defined by legally in their long terms and conditions. Once they get hold of the credit card, they just keep charging. You cannot get back a refund nor can you get credit. They have sales people who call on the weekly basis, once you are signed up, you can spend hours on the phone to talk to somebody who while pretend to be sympathetic, but cannot provide any satisfactory resolution. It is a waste of time.
I tried yelp business for my art classes and art gallery. I paid over 200 for upgrades only to find out that that my reviews were all not listed on my site.
When I called for help I was put on long hold and one day I was told all computers were down and they couldn't assist me. I feel that yelp for business is a total scam. The representative I finally got in touch with was rude and I could hear her doing dishes and other things when I was speaking to her.
I don't recommend wasting your money especially if you are a small business like me. Organic word of mouth advertising has worked best with me.
What a waste of time and money. Just send them the money and expect nothing, and they are very happy to take it from your account, stay well clear of them. This is a scam. Your positive feedback will be denied with yelp leading your clientele to believe you have a bad business. I have not made a dime and pay $550 per month in advertising. You are trapped with a steep penalty if you terminate early. Business owners beware!
The girl from yelp called me while i was driving and would not hang up even though i told her i was behind the wheel, in fact she had me type things into my search engine! Long story short i was so distracted by her that i got pulled over at a school zone. Insane.
We were hounded to the point of harassment by a Yelp salesman to purchase pay per click. I mean it was literally non-stop. He even got nasty with us a few times. He kept calling from different numbers after we blocked him. Just to shut him up, we decided to give Yelp ads a try. We set up the account and he did most of it over the phone with us.
I get our bank statement today and I'm in shock that we are hit with a $3,000 charge from Yelp for pay per click ads. $3,000! We are just a small business and that was our rent money. The Yelp ads resulted in ZERO calls and ZERO new customers.
This is so disgusting it should be illegal.
Answer: Good luck with that. You'll end up paying more for a lawyer than you'll ever save disputing the charges and they count on that. I got scammed hard by them. Just pay them off and chalk it up to a lesson learned. They always win. They lie to you. They lie to the debt collector and they're rich - so they can hold out longer than you can. Pay them off and walk away - poorer but wiser.
Answer: Block your credit card from this company and dispute any charges because you won't be able to contact anyone and request cancellation unless they call you. Even when they do call you and you cancel like I did, they will still keep charging you. They are a completely fraudulent company.
