I bought over $100.00 worth of bids, Didn't win anything lost it all, if your O. K. with gambling then this is a place for you, they offer some discounts on items for the money you spent on auctions that you didn't win... usually about 10 to 20 percent off, the normal Market price,, none of the merchandise I would pay full price for... The Power players are very hard to beat, on occasion some one seems to win something for a small amount, but it certainly wasn't me.the auctions takes forever to end, every time you place a bid the clock goes back to 30 seconds, and when your betting a penny it takes a long time for that auction to get to a point where someone could win. I got sucked into it WHAT A Waste of Time and Money. Please Watch the site carefully for a few days before buying!
I have been monitoring BigDeal.com for the past two days because I wanted to jump in and begin bidding to see if I could pick up an iPad really cheap. After watching just three auctions, I'm convinced they employ either bots or people to keep the bidding going and take your money. Here's the only example I need to give you. I just watched a "user" spend over 7 hours of their time spending over $820 of their own money on 75 cent bids (yes, over 1000 bids) for an iPad that they DID not win when they could have purchased one in 5 minutes for $729.00 from Apple or eBay. So, do you believe someone is that stupid? I don't either. The fact is, someone or somebot is bidding in order to keep the bidding going. Bigdeal.com is obviously a scam site. I have the screen shot of the above example if you want to see it.
I was tricked because they claim repeatedly that you cannot lose because they applying non-winning bids to special purchases, so their are no losers at thei site. What a joke!
I had $126 in these back-up bids. It turns out that they re worthless. They are to be applied to 5% discount for items that you pay full price for -I am going to try to reverse these charges with my bank bank, due to fraud. I have never done this before.
If you watching even for a short period of time, you will see that the "clock" resets to 30 seconds every time a bid is made on an item that is less than 30 seconds to "close". I signed up and started receiving a TON of spam. Will not ever bid there again and do not trust that site at all.
I signed up for this site in good faith, thinking it was actually an auction site. What it is is nothing more than a disguised casino, which uses the good name of Apple, Dell and others to disguise its consumer fraud practices. It's the very worst of what the Web has to offer and people need to be forwarned about this service.
The investors in this company should be ashamed of themselves for having their names associated with such a service.
Two bad things about the site. During the last 30 seconds of the auction if someone places a bid, the timer automatically goes back to 30 and continues this cycle. I just gave it a try and the auction took about 30 minutes to finish the last 30 seconds.
Also, each time you place a bid it costs you 75 cents but the auction only goes up 1 cent, giving the appearance that you are getting a good deal. If an auction is up to $1 that means that people have placed 100 bids (or spent $75), and you lose the money that you spent bidding.
I was pulled in by the "free bucks" offer and used these to purchase a 50'' Plasma TV that I had bid on and lost. It still cost me over 600 dollars plus 87 for shipping. The box identifies it as a 720p instead of the 1080p that I ordered. There is no number given to call with errors/complaints and although I did locate another website with a possible contact number, I have still to hear from them. This is not good business.
You need to be really carefully spending your money here. This website pretty much just like SaveBig.com where...
I've won $15 LOWE's gift card for 31 cents. NICE indeed BUT...
31 cents is actually stands for 31 bids. It cost 60 cents per bid.
31 x 60 = $18.6 (this is how much the company actually make)...
Indeed I win a $15 gift card for 31 cents (YAY!) and lucky for me I just bid ONE TIME. But what about those people who bid against me like 10 times?. They lost 10x60 cents = 6 bucks...
Think about it. It's all depend on ur LUCK!
Coz I tried it again. Bidding another gift card. I bid 25 TIMES. I lost it all.
And I cannot even use it for a credit deduction to buy the item at retail price. (coz I was bidding using voucher bids NOT purchase bids).
Overall this company is pretty smart... I wish I am the owner LOL
I won two auctions for 'e-certificates' two months ago. I have received only two 'e-mail codes' that they state can be exchanged for GIFT CERTIFICATES of my choice from a list furnished by them. I selected a firm on that list only to have them remove that firm from the list! They say thet their 'e-mail codes' can be used on third party sites but that is not true - they are not accepted! Their 'e-mail codes' cannot be used by third parties and are useless as gifts. BigDeal will not allow me to file any 'problem reports' any longer. I have been unable to find any phone number where I can discuss this problem with a live person. They just refuse to ship my won items and close all complaints filed as'problem solved'and refuse to permit any new problem complaints!
Those of you who refer to "bots" bidding on auctions: every bidder has the option to engage an automated bidder to post bids for them. It's limited at 40 bids and, often times, several bidders on the same auction are using them. Using the auto bid system is one of the strategies of winning on the site. Big Deals makes A LOT of money, that's true, enough that I don't think they need to scam anyone. If you log in, buy a few bids, try to win a TV for $30, of course you'll be out of luck. There are strategies to winning items at a low price and it works for me. I've won a Kindle, a MacBook, several zip drives, etc. Like anything else in life, if you walk in blind and hand them your money, they'll gladly accept it from you. Here's a tip: if you want to win a $600 iPhone, make sure you have $600 worth of bids to fire at the auction. If you win, whoopee, you got a great deal. If not, you can buy the item for the cost of your bids plus shipping. Yes, the retail price is a little higher than regular web deals, but that's the trade-off for taking a shot at a 95% discount, which happened for me the first day I bid, here. PayPal has their revenue gates open to the site (and they've closed them to many penny auction sites). That lends some credibility to their business tactics.
Big Deal was the first penny auction site that I visited and was surprised when I won an auction after only a few bids. I had checked the better business bureau before going to this site but still I did not believe that it was legit, until the order item came in the mail. After bidding on many different items (won some lost some) I must say that this site is awesome. I bid on an Ipod touch for my wife and lost but I was still able to purchase the item at a reduced price (each bid counts towards purchase price if you loss). I spent about $37.50 on the bids and then that $37.50 was subtracted from the total amount of the Ipod touch ($229.99 - 37.50 = 192.49). So I still won by having the money spent being subtracted from the sell price of the item. I lost nothing. The last thing that I would like to say is that the loyalty bucks are great. So if I loss an auction I still can buy the item at a reduced cost and still get loyalty bucks to discount other items. I love this site.
This site is a total scam! They do not have the rules explained very well at all. You pay 75 cents for each bid you make and the bids on the auctions only go up one penny each bid, so there is no way you can win or even get a decent price for an item on this website. They are making $750 for every $10 that the auction receives. They have bots that bid against you, so you can't win. Then they offer to sell you the item outright with the money you used to bid but the item is way overpriced. You cannot win on this website so beware!
I have only had one experience with this website and I thought it was going to be a horrible one. I did not understand the way this site works as compared to EBay and when I joined and saw 50 bids at. 75 ea. Charged to my bank acct., I was very upset. I sent email immediately following the blunder, asking for a refund, explaining my misunderstanding of how this site works. I received a reply within 24 hrs. Informing me that my refund had been issued minus. 75. I cannot say how relieved I was and appreciative of not losing $37.50. After all the negative feedback I had read, I expected the worst. Beverly
I had 2 big deals: one with Metropolitan Repairs and the other with JW Home Improvements and was disappointed with both for different reasons. Metropolitan Repairs dilly-dallied too much and in the end informed me that Ms Santos Salvador left the country for family emergency and would not be able to do the jobs at my house. Big Deal tells me that it is outside of 30-day window and they cannot refund my money. Outrageous! It was Metropolitan Repairs that backed out and I have no interest in any other Big Deals. My request is simple: Give back my money and they have not since over a month. Their emails sound very professional, but I found them untrustworthy. I don't trust them anymore. With JW Home Improvement, all I wanted was to get the 200 dollar worth of work at my house, but the estimate they gave me was 1600 dollars. They can estimate what they think is the right value, but it was way outside my budget so I did not want the deal. I wanted my money back. Again, the Big Deals would not refund my money. Take my advise: Stay away from Big Deals!
Warning, warning, warning, do not use this web site thinking you will win a high price auction. I recommend to all new bidders to review past auctions for the item they are interested. For example, all large screen TV's have the same winner, and these winners are sales people with eBay stores making huge profits. I recommend not using this web site until they have rules put in place to help the small bidder to have a chance against the high power bidders. I give this web site thumbs down
It`s legalized stealing and cheating.
Before you sign up they say - you have nothing to lose, you get refund on your spent money.
After you bought bids - there is no way to get your money back. Auctions are impossible to win, you`d waste you annual income in a few days trying to win anything.
And NO, no refund, it`s a big fat lie right there on their website.
Only small portion of your "loyalty bucks" is allowed to be used as a discount on a very poor choice of a few expensive items.
Stay aware from this website, and penny auction sites in general.
Sites like this one are ofen scams, full of inside bidders boosting prices, merchandise being won but never recieved, and "technical errors" that prevent people from winning auctions that they have put a lot of time and money into.
If you want to find items at a discounted price, I suggest you look to sites such as Ebay or even Craigslist (however, beware of scammers on Craigslist as well. Be sure to read through the Craigslist site reviews before shopping there).
You would have a better chance walking into the nearest casino and using your winnings to buy items than bidding on them at Bigdeal. Not a recommended site by any means.
Add another sucker of Bigdeal.com con!(me!). Automate bidding program(they forbid it! Yea right! Who is the enforcer?). Believing their pledge is big mistake. Look for bidder with minus time registed(-1:59:00). LOOK FAMI-LIAR?. I can not even buy it now(not with bid tokens).
I believe that this site can be great if you know what you are doing and you are VERY patient. I had success the first day that I signed up. I only bought 50 bids ( $37.50) and after watching an Ipad 64g wifi for 7 hours... (Yes I have to much time on my hands) I was able to come in at the end and win it for only $77.93( including 9.99 shipping). I used only 7 bids which costed $5.25. Winning auctions is simply a matter of luck and like I said EXTREME patience. That said... my chances of lucking out like that again are probably very unlikely.
I was shopping for a laptop for trips and bid on one. I didn't win it but I bought it anyway since they let you use your bids you lost towards the purchase price. I got it for what I would paid for it anyway and then used some of the loyaltybucks to buy my mom a thermal coffee maker for Mother's Day. It does take a long time, I'll give you that, but its fun. If your looking for something for nothing then you won't like this site. I liked it!
Answer: WOW! Just watched BigDeal.com make a few hundred bucks for itself in an hour on a single iPad "Auction"... once that clock dips under 30sec there is a virtual feeding frenzy of people who love to waste their time and money thinking they are gonna get an iPad for $10... and after all those bids? One dude bid 200 times already. That's $150 bucks right there. This site must have one of the highest work/profit ratios, they are making maaaaaaad money off the "thrill of the chase" = gambling.
