I received my 26 chicks (plus generous extras) from Chickens for Backyards on July 27. This was the only hatchery I could find to get one or two chicks of each breed I wanted. They are now 16 weeks and the most beautiful, healthy backyard flock I have ever seen. I ordered over a dozen different varieties and they are all quality specimens of their breed. This hatchery was great to work with, did what they said they would and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to order chickens.

There are many opinions on straightforward issues. Difficult to sort through expert and ill informed. Nazi with opinion thread starting etc... You are not allowed to have an idea that does not conform. Seems great at the start, actually a wast of time... many other sites with better quality information.

This is a cool site lots of great information on keeping chickens. Everyone was very nice to me as a new chicken keeper. I asked a lot of questions and they were answered on the forum. Lol I am a little impatient tho so I was really happy when someone there told me about a similar site that has live chat for those questions that need answers right now! http://www.diyseattle.com does not have as much info on the forum but has LIVE chat!

This web site has a lot of information on it, but it is very cumbersome to find precisely what you are looking for. Many of the forum topics go on and on and on, into the thousands of responses. Who has time to slog through all that? I'm not much into chickens as pets, and there are a large number of folks who fall into that school of thought, which also requires a lot of sifting to get to the actual information (really, chickens IN your house?). Anyway, I've had better luck simply doing a generic web search with my specific question.

Almost the entire staff team is disrespectful to almost everyone. Watch out, if you don't become a zombie and act exactly like the rest of the members there they will ban you for anything. Literally, anything.
They don't value their membership. The members are worth nothing more than entertainment and ad revenue. They give away PFMs like candy to boost its popularity. They won't delete accounts in order to make their membership look larger than it really is.
Worst of all, the owner does NOT appreciate feedback no matter how much he says he does. He will slander you, disrespect you and make fun of you in public if you dare give negative feedback. And if that doesn't drive you away, he'll send his army of staff after you.

Moderators on this site do not believe in freedom of speech, I was given a "warning" because I had a christian website in my signature, I was quickly told by several moderators that they don't have a rule against christianity but it is a topic that is strongly discouraged, when i refused to remove itm it was removed for me and I was locked out of that part of the website, when I asked how to delete my account they said they don't allow accounts to be deleted and banned me instead... I didnt want banned, i just asked for help. It appears they refuse to let members delete there accounts so it looks like they have more users than they actually do in order to make more revenue from advertisers.

This group is very demeaning if you make any statement that they are not supportive of and will upright attack you. If you are a person of color this may not be the place for you. The admins will ignore what everyone else is doing and attempt to put you to an open shame in front of everyone. Mind you, your view doesn't have to be wrong. It just can be something they are not in agreement with. It can be morally sound. They have lost over 50,000 followers and I project that they will be losing even more as people will not tolerate this type of behavior regardless of their position and who they feel like they are. I was threatened to be removed from the group as if there are not 100's of groups all over social media whose information is actually more kind, friendly and less degrading. Accusing me of copying and pasting drama simply for giving my take on supply and demand. Horrible experience. The good thing is a lot of the people who are here are in my other groups which are pretty great! Do your research and know that you have been warned.

While this site has lots of information, DON'T BECOME A MEMBER! You will not be allowed to delete your account if you ever get tired of it! I tried to edit my posts and delete pictures, and they went in and restored all the posts I tried to delete and there are no options for deleting pictures. Then they banned my account. I understand they have to watch out for trolls and such - but I am NOT a troll and I do not appreciate being banned for no reason. I want my account DELETED... not my rights restricted!

Received poor quality chicks that were sickly would not recommend at all and I personally would never buy from them again bad experience

They are great people and company to work with can not say enough good things about this company. I lost one, but they made good for.

This could be a great site. It may have at one time been a great site.
They boast many numbers of members.
HOWEVER very few are on the site and 99.9% are jerks and hang in there year after year with thousands of posts of BS.
It is my belief that people join and get mistreated, used and abused so they leave and the site owns their email and member name and number as a way to sell their info to advertisers. What do you think?
If anyone questions their tactics they "ban" them.
The member can not access their messages.
Also the site owns any rights to any pics that have been posted. Beward posting your pics as they may pop up anywheres with your name on it and you will not get the royalties AND people will see your name and still be able to acess the member info and locate you!

Make sure you use a throw away email address dedicated just to that site.
Make sure you have edited any part of your account before contacting management for assistance.
They may throw you out before you are able to assure yourself of any security.
Remember they own the site, they own any pics posted, they own your avatar, they own your posts to do with as they see fit.
So go ahead and join their site but watch what happens. Goldenfeathers, platinum feathers, etc. they will welcome you. Then will be the others. A small band of people clinging to their membership pumping for info from you. Fake friendliness. Waiting to trash you and look at their numbers. Thousands of posts as they pump the new person for info. The membership numbers are very high BUT the amount of particpaters is very low. Those participaters chase away the good people.
