Whether you're a seasoned talent or trying to get a foot in, there are all sorts of castings for all types of talents or staff. The platform is easy to use and the navigation is easy. The search could use more filter to better narrow down searches/results.
They have alot of castings but it's mostly unpaid student films and short films. A good way to build your resume up but after a certain point I dont think you could get much out of backstage. They also have commercials, ugc and some modeling opportunities but I noticed that the people who answered were very flaky. Not to mention that there's loads of scammers on there and they raised their prices to. So you expect me to pay $200 a year for your scammy casting calls. Yet I can just pay $68 for the year on actors access where I can get real auditions for TV shows and movies and no scams. I literally delt with over 3 scammers on backstage casting, one of which was sexually harassing me. And these people really think they're crappy casting website is worth $200? Okay.
Backstage is an excellent value. I say this not only for vetting the potential acting/modeling opportunities out there, but also the customer support. When you have a question, they respond very promptly and helpfully. There are a lot of scams out there. Ones even including emails saying they found you through backstage when they are working a scam. Backstage customer support will say if it's a scam or not

I have been using Backstage for a few years. I get lots of work. I only do work in Arizona but they keep me busy. I've worked with the Travel Channel, History Channel, Strawberry Fields Entertainment, and many more. Love it :)

I cancelled my yearly subscription of £35 last september, received no confirmation of this, then woke up and was charged £101. This is theft and i will be taking it further up the company and as a police matter if not sorted. I have tried to contact all customer services but nothing, i have even put a dispute in at the bank. This site i did not use at all, hence me cancelling my subscription, then charged £101 for another year when i only paid £35 originally. This is disgusting

Backstage has furnished a plethora of VO jobs, but their range of jobs offered is too wide. I'm an 86-year old man, and my voice can pass for 45 years up, but I get constant calls for women, children etc. I spend at least an hour a day searching through leads that simply do not fit my voice. Then Backstage shows me a disclaimer saying my age range (45-86) does not meet the requirement of the VO submitted. They should apply the parameters more closely to mine.

I subscribed a year ago. Cancelled the subscription after a few months and have just been charged 101 pounds. I want my money back and I want to be able to cancel me subscription when I want!
After the staff received this information they promptly got back to me, via the reply underneath and email, and were very polite, and then refunded my money - which I thought was very kind of them. Hi Joseph, the screenshot you attached shows that you were looking at an annual subscription, not a monthly subscription. Please note that our monthly subscription is $24.95/month, not $200/month. Backstage.com offers casting opportunities for actors and others in the film, television, and theater communities. In order to best support and maintain this service, users need to purchase a subscription in order to be able to apply to the casting notices posted on our site. This is not unlike other sites that offer access to castings.

To make a long story short. The platform has major issues. You submit to a project with resume attached. The platform asks you to add photos and videos to each submission.
The photos and videos and already in the resume.
Not a friendly site needs updating.
Hi Willy, your photos and videos should not be hidden in your resume, nor is this the typical way talent submit their material. A casting director will not know to open your resume to find your media and instead likely pass your application. I recommend uploading your videos and photos to the appropriate section of the profile to avoid confusion and missed opportunities.
I remember when Backstage was THE foreground for entertainment and casting (before actors access et-el) Every actor, director etc. I knew used it. Now It since seems more a flop ground for low budget and volunteer projects no one wants. Why pay the 6 or 12 month membership fee for that? Makes no sense. I know that I've never gotten contacted for anything local whatnot, and I have the free profile. What happened to Backstage?

Please note that the reason you're receiving multiple emails and alerts for notices you are not interested in is because you've created multiple saved searches, some of which do not have the filters you want selected. Without specific filters like location and production type filtered out, you'll understandably receive notifications for every notice posted on Backstage.
If you look carefully at your screenshot, that email notification was for a saved search that you created named 'eaglegrad16'. I recommend deleting all of your saved searches and creating a brand new one that encompasses everything you're looking for. I thought it was just me but like what's been listed here while I've booked through several other platforms inc WORD OF MOUTH. I've yet to receive a gig from Backstage. I don't plan on renewing within the next six months. Too bad actually I was told this was a great way to get gigs.

As a producer rather than an actor, this website used to be amazing until recently.
Customer service WILL NOT respond to you. If they send you an email asking something, they'll pretend that they never saw your response. It seems like a big mess, where multiple people are sending you emails, but they never go back and read the whole conversation.
If you're someone looking to cast people for a job, Backstage is not the site to use.

Please take this with a grain of salt. Backstage.com is a truly legit and reliable company. The only major downside from what I've seen is the shooting locations. You might as well save your money or kiss your chances goodbye if you don't live in or near a major city. Things are pretty lackluster on the voice acting side in terms of recording remotely. Like I said, most of the best opportunities are onsite locations, yet they'll never be anywhere near your own city or state. In terms of acting in general, the locations you can choose from are very limited. Not every city or state is selectable.
In fact, I had to Google films being shot in my own state due to my location not being a major city. That part saddens me. I basically spent money to look at opportunities that will never be relevant or obtainable to me. Things might be different for any of you though.

Check the availability of films in your location or recorded remotely before you purchase anything.

Here's my Honest review no fluff no exaggerations. While the concept of the site is wonderful. It is poorly executed with a terrible design/interphase. I will say the backstage is great if you want to get Spam for everything but professional gigs. I won't even get into the Spam emails that are sent out x100 times a day. I have been on the site off and on for 8 years I have YET to land a single professional gig. What backstage west needs is a Rehaul and new management. Once they improve the site I am sure casting professional will use it more
