This game is horrible
March 3, 2023

I didn't play for long, as I tend to bounce back and forth between sights, but I played long enough to know what a horrible game this is. There are scammers, groomers, hackers, predators, and just genuinely bad people in this game that aj refused to do anything about. And don't think I'm writing this out of hate, because plenty of other people feel the same way as me. Problem #1: hackers, scammers, and groomers. One of the many reasons I stopped playing is because I worked very hard for a very rare item, only to have it scammed simply by putting a great item on and then taking it away before I noticed. I was so sad I cryed about this and spent about 30 minutes writing to aj about how I lost my best item. They responded by saying something about staying away from hacks and and how they couldn't grant me anything back, sooo sorry. I wrote to them saying how upset I was about this and basically begged, don't judge I was desperate. They sent back the usual automatic responce, THE SAME ONE THEY SENT ME BEFORE. This is about the worst customer service I've ever experienced or heard about. #2 toxic community. Countless people have commented on my look In the game or how poor I was or others or flat out ignored me when I asked to offer for something. Another thing they did is they called me a scammer for offering for an item I wanted or burned me for it. Someone once called me the b word. Another literally told me THEY WISHED THAT I WOULD DIE. I could make a million other points but this is turning into an essay so I hope you know to stay away from this game and the company In general, who make nft games and scam.

Animal Jam: Good or Bad?
December 4, 2020

Hello there.
Animal Jam is a game that I have played for about 2 years, and I can describe it all. From the goods to the bads, you will see it all in this review :D Be aware that it is a long review:)
Memberships: Overall, they are okayish. It's not really fair; the amount of money you pay for a game, but the items and things you can unlock might be worth it. I, myself, have had a 1-month membership (that reoccurred for like 1 year until I found a button to fix it) and my sister is having a 1-year membership. Once you see all the perks, you can notice that it might not be worth it. I was super excited the first day, with the bundles and unlocking everything, who wouldn't be? After a while, I played rather infrequently, and I resumed playing after about 3-4 weeks. I found the recurring stop membership, and thanks a lot to Animal Jam because due to the time I stopped the auto membership, I only had about 4 days left. Because of the 'refer a friend' thing, my sister gave me some free membership because she referred me. If I would rate the membership status, I would give it a 3 star.

Chat system: *Please make sure that anytime I say the word 'banned' I mean the word 'suspended.'* This whole thing is a wreck due to my experience with it. First of all, someone was trying to get me to give them my password, so I tried to type it through the chat (don't blame me lol I was young) it didn't let me and sooner or later, I got banned. Almost a year later, I and my sister were playing the search for Greely adventure, trying to open the chests and get rare and gems. My sister typed in "What's the passcode?" referring to the code that you need to set up to open the door. She got suspended for saying that. Later, I tried to explain it to my friend, and ended up getting banned myself. I only had one more spare that was friends with her, so I explained it to her and finally, she understood. Another instance is when I literally was having fun with my friends and didn't say anything inappropriate or anything. I woke up the next day finding my chat banned for a day. Of course, the chat system is not all bad. It does block some bad chat and things like that. If I would rate the chat system, it would be a 2 and a half stars, due to MY experience with it. Be aware that you might have it a bit higher c:

The community: My experience with the community, or the people who play this, is actually not as bad as people think. I got scammed once - by racerboi - and they took my orange short wrist, my 2nd rarest item at the time. It doesn't affect me much now, but I know that scammers are still a big part of the animal jam community. Check out one of the best AJ Blogs: Animal Jam Special Agents Stopping Scammers, and you can find a big part of the scammers there. I have never been hacked once unless you count the time I was playing around with AJ Generators and put in a user and pass of a spare that I had nothing on-just some necklaces and rims XD. The next day I was playing and got logged out, and everything was gone. Ofc, nothing was on there, so I didn't really mind. Anyway, the community, in general, is really nice and friendly. I have more than 300 buddies for a reason X) Of course, cyberbullies and things like that exist, but you can't really blame aj for that. It's not like every single game except animal jam has fully gotten rid of those. If I would rate animal jam's community, it would be 4 stars.

The fun: The game is really good. It's sad that it's getting a database breach, and it's also sad that it's shutting down just because of flash, but it's a really nice game! If you want to contact me, just search up in usernames Abcdefg163 and I will come up! I will have to quit sometime this month (December 2020) because I cannot download the new AJClassic. If I would rate the fun, 4 and a half stars would suit it. Also enjoy the pictures I have and the glitch with the bunny if you wear a nonmember spiked collar and go to the picture are: P
Thanks for reading! Have fun Jamming!

Not for kids
June 4, 2020

I am Still only a kid, but i found out animal jam is not for children. It says it was made by national geographic, and that means it would be for kids, right? Haha, no. First of all, Animal jam Makes you addicted to membership. Of course, millions of people pay for that membership. It is a scam. They make you pay 120 dolllars a year for something digital and refuse to make refunds. AJHQ is almost as bad as the community. This is why the community is bad:
1. The language. People can swear using different spelling.
2. The Addiction. Players get addicted to "beta" items and think they are worth stuff. They constantly trade them for hours and hours. They would prefer doing this more than eating, sleeping, excrisise, hanging hout with REAL freinds.
And last, 3. Animal jam sex. This is the most disturbing to me. Kids like me should NOT experience this at the age of 0-18 years of age. You will definitley not beleive this, but people say "If you are a boy/girl come to my den". When you go to their den, you see a bed with torches around it. They tell you to sleep and they start jumping on you. Or they start sleeping and they tell you to jump on them. Dont beleive me? Just type in animal jam sex and there is a bunch of youtube videos on the subject.
When i first created my account (when i was 7) i was happy to explore jamma. I didnt know what betas were back then and i was a normal jammer until one year later when someone said "If you have den betas come to my den." Now of course i didn't know what that was. So i went to their den because i was like, oh, i have den items! Maybe he mispelled. And he went to my den. He asked, "Where's the den betas?" And i said, "Umm," Then he said "Ugh I want BETAS, not your worthless store-bought den items." Then he left. Yep, i was sad. Soon i looked up, "What's a den beta?" and then, when i read it, it changed my life on aj forever.
I slowly got addicted to betas and rares, day by day. My rares item was a green headress, and i showed it off along my green long and my green elf-tail armor, non-diamond. I preferred trading more than eating, sleeping, and excrisising. This became a problem for my family, so they turned off my membership. Of course. I complained about it for months. Soon after about 5 months, i calmed down and got over it.
What im trying to say is, DONT LET YOUR KIDS PLAY ANIMAL JAM!

It's not that good
July 29, 2019

UPDATE REVIEW!
I love this game actually but there is still have a problem as long as I play this game.
I had told you about the caste system in AJ Classic. But there's a new problem when I play in AJ Play Wild.

ONE. The Trades: It seems unfair and the most of annoying experience when I play AJPW is trading. Once, I was just enjoy walking around in Jamaa, Crystal Sands, or places in there. Then, there was a bunny wants to trade with me. Well... okay. As I can say, I am always not ready to trade pets and my pets are not for trade because they're got by my efforts from collected sapphires by games or event rewards. I can only buy membership once a year because I don't have money that much. Then, she/he asked me to trade pets, but I answered "No, I'm sorry. I am not ready to trade my pets. Maybe next time if I am ready.". And you know what happen? She/he just kept forcing me to accept trade and it's so ANNOYING. Even the bunnies always want to trade my pets with bees. It's boring and annoying! And I don't like bees. Most of them are bunnies ( and idk why :/ ) and they want to trade pets with me by forcing to accept! I only trade things in my trade list. That's it!

TWO. Moku'ahi. I hate this new island, tbh. The new island only sell MEMBER ITEMS and it's so UNFAIR! Also, when I want to click a place (such as Jamaa Township) in AJ map, I am always sent to Moku'ahi for no reason. It happens every time and so ANNOYING! Then, Leilani. Bruh... the trades from her are so UNFAIR! How am I suppose to trade with her if the things are so hard to get?! Even, I don't know how to get them!

*Summary*: So, what do I get from this game? Yeah... It's still enjoyable for me, but still annoying too, especially the first one.

Sorry if I have bad language. That's my point of view. How about you?

Poor Experience Again and Again
May 27, 2019

My younger sister has become obsessed with this game, and we have always been disappointed with our experiences with the mods. The first time she had an issue was when a friend of hers asked to borrow some items. She sent her items to this friend, and the friend refused to send them back. Although it is partially my sister's fault for falling for a scam, the way that the AJHQ handled this issue is completely unacceptable. They did not ban the user who stole my sister's items (even after reading an e-mail directly sent to them about this issue that they RESPONDED TO) and they would not return the items that were stolen. I know that they have a rule against returning stolen items, but I think that is ridiculous, because kids are still learning and they shouldn't have to lose all of their items because they make mistakes. Given that this is a kids' game, you'd think that they would put enough care into reviewing their reports, handing out punishments, and returning items to where they belonged like a responsible company. If you file a police report about stolen items, the police don't say "sorry, there is nothing we can do and we cannot get you your items back" and let the criminals run freely because it is their JOB to arrest criminals and help you receive your property back. Instead, the AJ mods lazily insist that there is nothing they can do and do nothing about the reports that they receive. I give kudos to people who work as moderators for kids' games because it is not an easy job to moderate these types of games, given that kids do lots of dumb things, but Animal Jam does a lazy job of this, and nobody we have reported for clearly doing something wrong has ever received any punishment. They are more worried about filtering the word "but" than actually preventing scams in the game (yes, the word "but" used to be banned). The second run-in I have had with the moderators has not yet been resolved, and I just sent in an email about it this morning. My sister was trading her items in the game when she suddenly was no longer able to and her trade was blocked. We have no idea what happened, but I did some research, and sometimes they give "trade bans" to users who use the trading system unfairly. So essentially, they gave a trade ban to my sister (who did nothing) instead of actually taking time to moderate scammers and other rude users of the game. Overall, the moderators of this game are lazy and they do not do their jobs, and rude users of the game run freely most of the time. If you are a parent and you are considering this game for your children, I don't recommend it at all. It is a shame that Club Penguin was shut down, because that game was fantastic and when I played it when I was younger, I hardly ever ran into problems. I found that the moderators were responsible and good at their jobs.

This game can hurt your child mentally emotionally and physically.
July 26, 2016

Hi I play animal jam and decided to stop all together. This game is hurtful and mean and the kids who play it are beyond bullies. Here are reasons that I feel that you should never even start animal jam.
1: The bullies. These kids will hurt you and bully you and say terrible things to your face. They hide away behind their computers and make fun of people and if your a non member. Your doomed. Members will constantly brag about how much better they are then you and how stupid and "un-rare omg" you are etc. And it hurts more when they go up to another member and act super nice and friendly. I just cannot believe how obnoxious people are on this game. So for instance I was at a giveaway and then I won and people were like "aww omg good job" and " Great job seashell!" but then after the host left everyone make the anger emoji and said things like " Kicks in face" and " I hat you! I hat you" and " Your a meanie " and " I hope you dry! I hat you! Give it to me now! " when you did nothing wrong and won something nobody had in control of. I said to them " Why are you doing this? Why are you being rude " they just carried on bullying me.
That is one example in hundreds that I have encountered. And what are the odds of like 5 people being bullies at once? So about 6/8 of all jammers are mean. There are times where people have made me cry before. I don't know why i still allow myself to play this game. People make me feel terrible. And maybe like you will be like " Oh well if I become a member people will be nice and I will be happy!" No. I mean not really. You don't want to waste your time on those people who are mean to people who are " under " them because that's what kind of kids they are. Its rare to find someone who is truly nice to everyone no matter what. Like impossible.
2: Addiction. This is a bad problem too because the game is designed to be addicting and it works. Like when I first started out I would stay up until 5:00 in the morning just playing animal jam. Sometimes there are days when you can't function without it. It feels like another life that you can't always access. And you feel dizzy and sometimes you have a headache after playing for 12 - 18 hours a day and its so unhealthy. It will take over your life its all you will think about. It literally feels like another life. So don't even start because its soooo hard to stop.
3: The game is boring now. Back in the Beta Testing days people were all happy and nice and cheerful like animal jam wants ( when the game first came out) there were no rare items everything was in shops and there was no such thing as membership but animal jam has come a long way from Beta Testings. Literally everyday all people care about is rares and cool glitched items. The game isn't about being fun. Its about being rare. That's it. You sit in jamaa township hoping something interesting will happen while shouting " Trade me fairly for my rares! " or something like that. Sure you can play games and go on adventures but there aren't very many people doing that. Everyone wants to sit in jamaa township and get items. And let me tell you you will never be happy with what you have in animal jam you just keep getting more and more and more and more until you get tired or sick of it. And there are 18 and 19 year olds who can't shake off the game so they keep playing.
4: The scamming and hacking. Yes animal jam is strictly against scamming but that doesn't help anything at all. People will do whatever it takes to get the item that they want. Here are some thing people try that occasionally works on jammers.
" If you give me all of your good items and rares I will give you membership."
" Oh that rare black spikes isn't worth anything barely I'll be nice and over trade you with a rare scarf ok?"
" My dad works at ajhq. Give me your rares or he will ban you."
" Gift me a spike and I will gift you a headdress!"
" Whoever gifts me the best wins my headdress!"
" Lets trust trade bestie! You trade me all your good betas and I will give them all back deal? No? What? Why don't you trust me? Your mean!"
" Hey kid! I need to borrow your beta carpet for a video I will give it back later ok?"
" Trade me rares please I got hacked!" don't believe them its all for show to trick you and the sad thing is people never believe the people who are telling the truth.
And the list goes on...
Also its pretty common to log in and find all of your items gone because some people are really good at guessing passwords or are expert hackers. Sometimes animal jam ajhq will do something they try, but they have 500,000,000 kids playing and some kids fake that they go hacked so it takes then a while to help you.

Here are some reason animal jam is good. It can be fun sometimes! To do fashion shows and hang out with good buddies if you are lucky enough to find a nice person.

Saw a child predator on Animal Jam!
February 25, 2016

Bad experience with National Geographics Animal Jam! Please share! CHILD PREDATORS using the CHILDREN'S GAME!

Sunday night our daughter told us that she started playing an online social media childrens game at school last year. The game is called Animal Jam and is owned by National Geographic. Players (meaning children, keep reading.) have animal personalities. They can text each other and go into PRIVATE ANIMAL DENS FOR PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS. Needless to say we were very upset that our child could be interacting with strangers on this game, which has 50 million users. We did not know about the game because a 9 year old at her school set up my daughters account, using her personal email as the parental address, and my daughter did not have access to the game at home. The email sent for PARENTAL APPROVAL and restrictions on the game was APPROVED BY A CHILD. Great parental controls, right?
I created an account as an 8 year old boy to show my daughter the danger of this game in the absence of parental guidance. Once we entered the game we saw about 20 other animals (this means strangers!). One was named Outdoor Plumbing, which is a phallic reference. That is an ADULT with a PHALLIC REFERENCE for a player name on a childrens game trying to TALK TO CHILDREN. I saw a child predator within one minute of entering the game. We logged off because my point had been made very quickly, and I cancelled my new account.
I contacted the games help center and eventually a customer service representative called. Since I didt have the email address of the child who set up my daughter's account, I cannot access the parent portal for the game. Animal Jam informed me that the only way to get access to my childs account to see what she has been exposed to was to BUY A GAME MEMBERSHIP. Yes, they wanted me to pay money to be sure that my child had not been having conversations with child predators. They didn't offer any other routes to prove my identity as my daughter's mother.
Im sure some aspects of the game are not bad with very strict parent supervision, but Google Animal Jam child predator. Start reading reviews from parents and older children. Our SCHOOL SYSTEM has been WONDERFULLY RESPONSIVE about this. School system IT personnel spent hours going through the hard drive of the computer my daughter uses this year. Once personnel saw reviews of Animal Jam they blocked it from all schools in the state. The parents of the other child have tried to help us access her account, but so far we've had no luck.
Please be careful of this game. Obvious child predator within one minute on the game. Animal Jam wanted money for me to access her account without trying any other routes to prove identity.
