Promised the world, didnt deliver. We got less than 10 leads, $1000 per month, then when we wanted to cancel they tried to charge us an early termination fee, we disagree with this charge and they want to put us in collections.
Stay clear of angies list for your advertising budget. Just not worth it.
I bought an electrical deal they were running and called the electrician. He told me he doesn't service my area. I've tried on and off for 2+ years to find out how to get my money back or to transfer to a different provider but nobody ever tells me how to do it. I can't call them and they say they respond within 24 hours to an email but the email never addresses my question. I've learned, just go local and never trust Angie's List. I feel bad that Angie has put her name on something so awful... unless that's the kind of person she is, then yuk.
We had dealt with Angie's List several years ago, but they did not have a category for our business, which is metal roofing. We stopped using them because we got a lot of calls for asphalt roofs and spam. Then they called and told us they had a new category for metal roofing, which we found out later was a bold-faced lie. Stephanie Hazlett, the customer service representative, said she would have an investigation done and that we would have results in 30 days. 120 days later, nothing was done. LeeAnn Greisl was the customer service person who told me that metal roofing was now a category and that she would give us a special deal to get us back. We got no metal roof leads, just asphalt and spam. This has been the worst experience for advertising yet. Stay away from them!
We hired Angie's List to advertise our company in. They assured us that for the $1300 a month they were going to charge us that we would receive 35 to 60 customer leads per month. After almost 2 months we had a total of 4 customer leads. We tried multiple times to contact our sales rep, It took canceling our payment to them for him to finally respond. Now they want to charge us $4550 for early cancelation of a service that they can't even provide.
We have used Aaztec Heating and Air for years for both our boiler and water heater. They are so prompt responding when we call if we are in trouble. We highly recommend them if you have boiler issues. Don and Carolyn Hansen of Golden Valley, Mn
I was a paid member of Angie's List for many years and valued their service in finding companies for projects. However since they have been taken over by Home Advisor they no longer are at all objective. When I go into their site to find a company to do a project, they narrow it down to something that does not fit. We no longer have access to looking up the reviews of companies and services. Don't waste your time. Sad to see a good company go bad. Now it is just advertising. Consumer Checkbook is much better.
THEY GUARANTEED "A" RATED COMPANIES WILL ALWAYS BE SHOWN ABOVE LOWER RATED COMPANIES! THIS IS NOT TRUE! THEY ARE PUTTING LARGER COMPANIES THAT PAY MUCH MUCH MORE THAT HAVE A "B" RATING ABOVE "A" RATED COMPANIES NOW WITHIN A DESIRED DISTANCE. THIS IS A COMPLETE VIOLATION OF THE TERMS THAT WE AGREED TO. THEY WANT TO CHARGE US TO CANCEL AN AUTOMATED RENEWAL AGREEMENT THAT WE NEVER AGREED TO! STAY AWAY FROM GREEDY ANGIE THAT IS NOW PARTNERED WITH HOME ADVISER!
"Bait and switch" is a crime, and is considered a fraudulent sales tactic that is punishable by law as false advertisement under the Lanham Act. Angie's list used fraudulent bait and switch tactics on me and I want out of my contract. The sales representatives I spoke to initially said he could not assure me any leads, but the second, a woman, provided "numbers" that I do not believe existed and ASSURED me that they would get me a number of closings if I paid nearly $300 per month, and I have yet to receive even one client lead in past 8 months (nearly $2,400 later) I have been with them. I have called them with my concerns and they threatened me with a $1,000 cancellation fee. They failed to deliver on the promises they made to consumers and strong arm them with their iron clad "contract". I recommend any consumer record all sales discussions, prior to deciding and tell the sales associates they are being recorded. They should be investigated federally for their sales tactics and fined accordingly.
What everyone else is saying is absolutely true. They rope you into a contract without explaining it. We got three leads, only one of which panned out profitting us less than one month of Angie's list fees. A waste. They said they were flexible and would be able to freeze our account in our off season. WRONG. So basically the onboarder will say WHATEVER you want to hear. The payments drove our business to the ground in the off season. Worst decision we made for our company.
As a new small business angieslist is very bad. They will promise a certain number of customer contacts and I have averaged 1/month!. They also do not tell you when you sign up that this is a subscription with cancellation fees. I would not recommend to any other contractor.
I wish I had reviewed Angie's list before getting suckered into this barely legal scam that is immoral and deceptive.
I was abandoned by Angie's before my account was done yet they began biling me despite my being in a cancer ward and they never listed my pH # correctly yet want to sting a dying man!
I went on Angie's list to research a tree company and to see the reviews I immediately got called 4 times in a row by tree services wanting to get with me about giving me an estimate are you kidding me you really gave out my number to random companies with out my consent and never consented anywhere on your website for you to give out my number I didn't even finish logging in or anything I think you suck and I think it's wrong that you give our peoples number
I am just starting out with a home reorganizing and staging business.
I signed up for Angie's List for $300 per month. I learned the next day that I could have had my business on Angie's List for FREE. What I had gotten roped into was actually a $3600 annual contract.
I was on the hook for $300 and was told that to break the contract I had to pay 35% of the $3600 or $1,155.00.
I tried it for about a week in hopes something would happen, but of course nothing did. Then when I tried to get in touch, and to get questions answered, I got no response.
I went ahead and ended the contract so I'm waiting on a final invoice.
This was the worst financial hit for me, and just before the holidays. I'm beyond discouraged and completely disgusted by this company.
I noticed that Greg is on Angie's list, therefore I am writing this review. I found Builder's LLC on my own, looking for a local professional contractor to remodel my two bathrooms and once I found him I also looked on Angie's List to see if it listed the business. I was fortunate to have Greg remodel the bathrooms. I could tell he takes pride in his work and loves what he does. He was efficient and was helpful in picking out the right material for the job, and they did it in a timely manner. However, he left the design decision to me. I am pleased with both bathrooms remodels.
Not much different than home advisor. Other than they will not email or call you back if you have issues with your service. The amount of leads that I was told i would receive my first month I have not even recieved in two. All of the house That they send me to are in low income neighborhoods so the leads i do get are not even worth my time. Definitely not worth $300,400, or 500 a month which is what their service cost.
Would never recommend.
What a joke. Angies list may be a decent resource for homeowners(but, I doubt it), but, as a local business owner trying to generate qualified leads for my business it was a complete waste of money, time & effort. From the initial sales representative that signed me up with lies and complete mis-representations to the "customer service" group that were completely inept and charged my account every possible dollar, dime & nickle they could. All with nothing but "lip service" to how they wanted my account to be successful. Scam, Scam, Scam!
RUN! NO MATTER HOW DESPERATE YOU MAY BE TO GET BUSINESS AND OR LEADS, DO NOT HIRE AND PAY ANGIES LIST TO HELP YOU! THEY ARE A SCAM!, THEY WILL GUARANTEE AND PROMISE YOU A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF LEADS IN A 3 MINTH TIME FOR EITHER 300.00 A MONTH WHICH IS THEIR MIN. OR 500.00 A MONTH. AND YOU WILL NOT GET EVEN CLOSE TO THAT ANOUNT OF LEADS. WE GOT 1 LEAD IN 3 MONTHS AND THEY CHARGED US 500.00 NONTH. DO NOT TRUST OR BELIEVE ANY OF THEM AT ANGIES LIST, THEY LIE AND WILL SCAM YOU AND YOU WILL BE LOCKED INTO A YEAR CONTRACT WITH THEM, MEANING IF YOU CANCEL BEFORE THE YEAR THEY WILL CHARGE YOU THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. READ THESE REVIEWS FROM ANYONE YOU THINK YOU WANT TO USE BEFORE SIGNING.
I was a subscriber for years. Then I didn't really need them so I unsubscribed. I decided to try the "free" service and searched for a contractor for a specific job. Got 2 calls right away. Great. But then... I randomly receive a phone call from Angies List out of the blue. The woman immediately starts hammering me with questions. Not "Do you have a minute", she just hit the ground running. After about the 7th question I stopped her and told her A) I'm busy (I have a job) and B) why are you calling me? I told her to remove my number from their records and I will NEVER use their service again. Talk about invasion of privacy, lack of respect for my time and just overall hardcore spam... No thanks.
We had a deck that needed help. I saw that neighbor was having a new patio added to their house. I was so impressed with the work that they did. I asked who is doing the work? OHIO EXTERIORS.
I called them and had them come out and look at our deck. Yes, they could help.
We saided OK.
The office was very kind and keep me informed on the project.
Guess what! Now so impressed with our new deck.
It's beautiful.
The workers were so professional and really cared about doing a good job. Even with the clean up they looked over several times to make sure ever thing was picked up.
Would I go to them again: OH YES! And so should anyone looking for exterior work.
THANK YOU - OHIO EXTERIORS.

Our business has advertised with Angies List for the past 5 years. Each year at the end of our contract we were contacted by an account representative to go over the new years contract and costs. This year we did not receive that call and we made a business decision that it was no longer woth the monthly fee chrged verses the calls we would receive. When I spoke with Angies List to let them know we no longer wished to adverise with them I was told my contract automatically renewed and we owed 35% of the contract fee. This is how Angies Lists takes care of loyal customers that no longer wist to do business with them. Their management team should seriously review their best practices.
Answer: You'll have to contact the website directly. They don't monitor the Sitejabber website. Try to see if you can get them to delete your profile. If not, I would contact the Better Business Bureau or the Attorney General's office or another state law enforcement office in your state. This sounds like fraud to me (but, I'm not a lawyer).
