I had a recent stay at American Inn and suites of Ferndale******* W. Eight mile rd in Detroit Michigan. I never been to a nastier place. There were live and did roaches crawling on walls and dead one laying by ice machines. Bedding was covered in blood and dirt stains. None of the ice machines worked, the building allows smoking it smells like a bingo hall, the parking lot is full of busted glass, hobos hanging out in and outside the building. All the vending machines have a "use at your own risk" sign. Housekeeping have their own personal chemicals they use instead of industrial cleaning supply. The mirrors have dust and dirt caked on them, there was a used comb and crumbs on the couch. The remote was missing it's back, a baby roach crawled back into a hole in the wall. My toe was poked by something that was sharp in the carpet that I wasnt able to locate due to it being embedded in the carpet. Did not complete this stay and was still charged. The night staff was sitting behind the desk watching porn. I have pictures and videos of this stay and would not recommend I feel sleeping outside would have been a lot better. Glad I made it back to my clean space I will never stay at another American INN I don't care where it's located. Save your time and money. The staff member by the name of Paul customer service sucks not friendly what so ever! Please look into staying elsewhere

Horrible Hotel!
1) Booking website said 'breakfast included' - not true. Did not even have breakfast facilities
2) Asked for plastic knives/spoons; they did not carry such items. Actual cutlery, no they do not carry
3) WI-FI not working, they said it was due to power outage, ETA of fix supposedly tomorrow
4) Why was room not cleaned; they advised it was due to power outage, I did not know that power was needed to change bed linens, empty the trash, give new towels
5) Ice machine not working
6) Towels are the size of hand towels, quality of towels was that of a paper towel
7) Had to clean our own room
8) NO HOT WATER! Unable to shower (most guests had left already and I'll be leaving today and will be taking up with Credit Card company as Service not delivered as promised). Hotel says they cannot make any adjustments to bill

The service was no better, nobody really cared.
