Two features are mandatory for any shoe I buy: A wide toe box and zero drop (height difference) between the heel and forefoot. These features make a huge difference in positioning your body to run efficiently and with low impact. Altra is the only brand that builds this into every shoe they make. If I have one criticism, it's that you can tell they are a young company and their products aren't always as refined as other more seasoned companies. That being said, I have exclusively run in Altras for the last 3 years, and it is worth bearing with their experiments, because some of them have been revolutionary (like the One2.5).
I have been running on Altra's for a couple years now, including multiple half marathons. I love the shoes and found purchase on the Altra website simple and fast!
I ordered the Lone Peak hiking boots online. I love my Torin running shoes, so took a confident chance on the hiking boots. I love them! I did order a half size bigger than my running shoe and even though I am a women - I order the men's shoes because I have a wide foot with big bunions. They shipped the boots promptly and I received them a week after I ordered them. Great service!

I have tried other running shoes but wanted to go to the next level so did some research. The Altra Escalante was far and away the best rated shoe so decided to spend the extra money and glad I did. It is well worth the money for comfort and running experience. I highly recommend. The service was excellent as well.
I used to have to search for D/W and even WW, but because of their design Altra fit. I also bought a pair of Altra leather non-running shoes, which are just as wonderful. I'm so happy to finally find shoes that consistently fit and are good for my feet and affordable. Great company too. Yay!
I love altra. I love the running shoes (and the benefits... no more shin splints!). However as a broke college student, I try to prolong the life of my Altra sneakers as long as I can. I threw in the towel yesterday. I went on the website to order and bang there was a pair on sale for 60 dollars (would have been 110). That was a steal! I go to order them and they are out of stock of all colors and sizes. All I ask is that they take the idea off if it is out of stock. Or acknowledge on the homie screen temporarily unavailable
Love the toebox. I wear sz 7-7 1/2. But only 7 was available. I need an 8. Will return for a bigger size

I am baffled that no other running shoe company has created a shoe that actually mimics the shape of a foot and allows for natural toe spread. I've had chronic metatarsalgia, primarily due to toeboxes that aren't actually made to fit natural foot shape. Thank you Altra!
Followed their fit guide and shoe recommendation guide and ordered two different models so I could compare the difference in cushion and comfort.
Both models fit perfectly and I haven't had any trouble so far with sending a return of the one I decided wouldn't work for me.

4 of those pairs now with one pair on order. Love the comfort, fit particularly the box toe. They wear well. I also the different styles to meet different types of activities.

I already own a couple of pairs of Altra running shoes and love them dearly. Nice, wide toe box so I never feel my toes jamming into the end. And today I ordered a uniquely cut rain coat that allows for easy on and off when wearing a backpack. Only thing that irks me about buying online is they don't have "fit guides" to see what their measurements are for each size.
I have been wearing this brand for years. So simple to shop, so easy to purchase. Every order has been on time and the right product. My local shoe store only carries a few types of these shoes. So if they don't have it AltraRunning makes it easy to order online.
You have to call Altra to get the discount code for the month and then search to find where to enter it. Illogically its not on the payment page like 99% of all other web sites. Its weirdly on one of the first pages of the order. Makes no sense. Had to call and have help- and then even weirder- they didnt offer to take the order. Lucky for them I was really interested- otherwise heck there are other shoes out there w more committed service.
So for 4 years I have been running in Altras and then got an idea to change, what was I thinking! Heel issues and just not the results I was looking for. Ordered the new Altra Vanish R I can't wait to get them!
