I have been playing Total Trivia for about 3 days already. The learning curve was a little slower than expected in terms of learning how to win the tournaments while spending less on discount coupons. What is your algorithm for exchange rates? At first I though it was directly correlated to the cost, but here are items that are under $100 that I have come across that exchange for much higher rates that some items over $300. Then I thought it was related to the brand, but then as I started to win the same items, the exchange rates were different. Then I figured the exchange rate depended on the different time of day, but can't be for certain since I have only played for 3 days, and my spreadsheet is only 3 days old.

Why are the exchange rates for the same item different? I can't even play the came accurately, because I usually have a bid limit based on the exchange rate, but I have found my self overbidding and losing "Profit." HELP!!!! - PALINDROME

Hi Jaime,
Thanks for your question.
We just launched the option to exchange items for discount coupons in the last few weeks. As such, our team is still running tests to find the optimum exchange rates for each item. The tournaments should be as fun and fair as possible in our view, so we are doing what we can to find the right balance.
I appreciate that changing exchange rates may affect your strategy.

FYI... They give you a lot of coupons when you exchange your wins as a newer player. Then, as you continue to win, they greatly reduce the coupons you get in exchange. I won a messenger bag on 5/7/17 and received 670 coupons in exchange. I won this same bag on 5/9/17 and received 428. I won it again on 5/11/17 and received 413. Then I won it on 5/25/17 and received 271. That same day I was told by a friend of mine that her son won the same bag and received 866. He just started and is racking up tons of coupons in exchange. So beware that after you've won the game changes. The people you are bidding against can afford to use more coupons because they will get more in return.
