Yes, you can certainly do that. Sign up for the 1-month free trial and try it out. If, within the 1-month period, you have decided you like what Playster has to offer and would like to commit to a year's membership, simply contact us on Facebook and we can upgrade your free trial membership to the Combo Box package. Unfortunately we cannot send the Combo Box as part of the free trial, but we can send it to you once you choose to upgrade your account.

I have lost access to over a dozen authors I listen to are Gone am giving 1 month then gone

You lost access while they transition to their new membership setup. You will have to pay double the regular price or have half of the audiobook access.
