Review Highlights

“Where is the Group On coupon?” Dan Abushanab demands.

I paid for my voucher and my order was never fulfilled.

Not enough customer demand means it's down here from there.

So Lame, most of the time, the merchants don't even realize they are running a deal. Over it!

Groupon is a great company and website. I have never had a disappointing transaction in the dozens of purchases I've made with them.

They said they won't ship to PO boxes. So I put my physical address for UPS. UPS did end up tranfsering it to the local post office which then sent it back to Groupon, I called the post office box and they said if I had included a PO box it would have been delivered. $#*! you groupon! Now they say I can't get the item even when it returns to them and I don't have a camera for the trip I'm about to take to Alaska. WTF!!!

Do not bother ordering a gift card through Groupon if you would like it delivered sometime this century. It took a week to "process" the gift card request (even though my credit card was charged for it immediately), and the card was not sent through DHL until the following week. It took nine days for this card to reach the recipient who lives in the same state only two hours away -- and Groupon could not confirm the card was received since it could not track it. I had to call Cashstar, and it could not track it, either, until a supervisor looked it up to confirm it was received. I will NEVER do business with Groupon again.

Buyer BEWARE! Do not buy any Groupons for Massages. Groupon does not do a thorough job of screening their merchants, especially for spa like services. They are selling groupons for massages, but when you call to book an appt. and you identify yourself as having a Groupon, the establishment is all of a sudden booked for weeks and months out. The merchant limits the number of slots they will allow for a 'Groupon massage'. I had to book one month in advance to use one massage Groupon. I was not even able to use the other massage Groupon at another place due to the masseuse being a one man show at the establishment and he was booked for like 2 months straight!! That one expires in June and I am not paying full price for a 90 minute massage - no one does!

I've never had a groupon that wasn't honored or shipped to me relatively quickly with good confirmation dialogue sent to me. Better than some other daily deal sites which have been horrendous to deal with *coughtipprcough*

I had been a Groupon member since Jan 2010 and had two separate accounts with them. On May of 2013 I decided to buy a Groupon Goods offer and I received an error that my order could not go through even though I tried ordering the item twice. I then called their customer support (I also emailed them) and was told that my physical home address could not be verified. I tried explaining that I had bought Groupon Goods before and this had never happened. I even asked to talk to a supervisor or manager. I was basically told the same thing from the supervisor/manager and also from a reply to the email I sent them. Not sure what kind of software they are using to verify an address but it does not work as it should. I finally just asked them to remove both of my accounts and they gladly did that without even trying to fix the problem. No more Groupon for me - thank you!

I have worked with Groupon on a few purchases, and was never impressed by their customer service. Any goods purchased always take longer than the anticipated time. My most recent purchase was not even noticed as shipped until over 2 WEEKS after I played my order, and now I have to wait an additional week to two weeks to receive it. If you experience any problems with vendors, good luck trying to get any semblance of REAL customer service. I purchased a restaurant Groupon that was marked as "Best of 2012" and the restaurant went out of business before I could even redeem the Groupon!! On the restaurant's site, it even directs us to contact the discount site to be issued a refund and when I contacted Groupon about it, I get a one sentence reply that they will not be issuing a refund. No explanation. No regard for their reputation as a company that sells a product that they can't even guarantee the customer that they can use. There's a reason Groupon business has decreased, and I will gladly be taking my business to Groupon's competitors.

Your review will help others learn about this website.

Sadly it appears that like so many other companies, Groupon's reputation (from personal experience) is now in the toilet as the result of poor decision making by upper management. Probably not the best idea to outsource their customer service to individuals who have no concept of U.S. customer service and who are unable to provide a response other than those listed on a "cue card". I'm guessing that the Groupon for Outsourcing wasn't such a great deal after all.

I think they have a great website, and the customer service is stellar. I recently had a TERRIBLE experience with a deal they offered through another website (see my review about 38dollarglasses.com). Groupon was not at fault, but they did what they could to rectify the poor service from the other company. Honestly, Groupon didn't owe me anything, but they still took care of me. I couldn't be happier with how Groupon handled the situation.

I also don't think this is a scam but I just have had much better experiences with so many other sites online. I signed up for the site but I don't really like it because they push too hard to make you spend money and I just unsubscribed from all the emails. I found myself spending too much money on things that I might not even use down the road. I just didn't feel right about the doing that. So overall I'm sure it's a good site for other people but not really for me. And especially with all of their accounting practices and from what I heard about how they treat business owners just to make money. It just doesn't feel like a good company or a good website.

I have used groupon.com many times and everytime I have been satisfied with my deals. They update their deals pretty frequently and I can almost always find a good deal for my family. I have never had a problem with any of the vouchers I have bought. I have the app on my phone and it notifies me whenever their is a good deal that matches my interests. I would recommend this site to anyone looking to save some money but still have a great time.

I've ordered several items and quite a few restaurant coupons. I've had no problems with the restaurant Groupons, but a few issues with purchases & quality. One purchase never arrived, even though it was supposedly shipped - but customer service was very helpful and a refund was issued immediately. My main problem is their return policy. I didn't realize it until I was going to return a sheet set (after the first washing the pillow cases are pilling so badly they feel scratchy on my skin), but you have two weeks to return an item, unused in it's original packaging. How are you supposed to know if a product stands up through washing unless you use it? I won't purchase an item like that in the future.

Used it for local restraunts and started purchasing goods from there as well. One of my last purchase was the infrared ear thermometer. It was shipped out and somehow delivery on the website was marked "delivered", but the package never even arrived. I called the post office and all they know is that it supposedly is delivered and told me to call groupon. There is no number for customer service? Also emailed the "contact us" section twice and have not heard back even though they send you automatic email stating they will reply within 24hrs. I am disappointed in the lack of customer service, I feel like I am dealing with Comcast. I will stick to E-bay and Amazon where customer service is always on top of things.

I give a 1 out of 10 for groupon integrity because they are after how to take money of your account regardless of the integrity of their process. Once the money is taken from your credit card any inconvenience you face is NOT Groupon's problem. The back-end programming should guarantee the process to be completed flawlessly i.e. the Transaction of the payment should NOT be completed until the account creation, email verification is completed without an error, better error handling process should be in place to ensure that the account is successfully created and verified before the payment is processed to avoid any errors on the user end. Right after what I noticed with my account, I deleted my groupon account and uninstalled the groupon app from his phone and WE will NOT use groupon ever again. I also wants this email to be passed on to your Big shot corporate Idiots and your developers.
Thank you being in rush to take our money and Horrible service: I tried to resolve the issue through email and phone but all I heard was NONSENSE.

I ordered an ellipticalt through Groupon Goods six months ago. I was shipped a broken elliptical within a reasonable amount of time. I followed the requested procedures to return the elliptical. Six months later, I have been told at there is no record of my return and I cannot have a replacement of refund! Their customer service is the worst I've ever experienced.

I think that although they have good deals, they are possibly one of the worst websites in the world in terms of customer service.

As a merchant just trying to buy some risk -free advertising (traditional ad space is so expensive nowadays, and there's no guarantee your company will get one call out of it), we tried groupon. They said it would take 6 weeks for our deal to go up, but it took 14 weeks instead. Even though we gave them all the correct information from day one, they still posted our ad with the wrong address, phone number, and a poorly written description of our services. I reviewed everything before they were supposed to post it and did not approve anything, called and emailed the changes, but they posted it wrong anyway. Had to call twice more to get the right changes. Every time I needed something fixed or a question about our merchant account, I would speak to a different person. Everyone in the call center sounded way too young and never knew what was going on with your account. Seemed like it was run by high school students. Actually, high school students probably could do a much better job.
Bottom line, extremely unprofessional, unreliable company with no inner communication whatsoever. Don't give these people your business.

Does the company you are offering a deal with in San Diego over the weekend of April 23, 24 & 25 carry insurance. Did you actually check it out before you presented this business to the general public?

What does this have to do with groupon.com?

I want to make sure that if my guests and myself are hurt in any way that this balloon company has insurance to cover injuries. There was a balloon accident in San Diego on March 17, 2010 so those kind of things do happen--it was all over the news! Panorama, the company involved, did have insurance but not every balloon company operates with hot air balloon liability insurance covering their passengers while in flight . Does this one? Did Groupon check this out and reconfirm with the balloon insurance agent of this company before selling the deal to the public--whoever collects the $$ is as liable as the balloon company. I want proof of their liability insurance before I purchase this deal for 12 of my business clients--wouldn't you?

As a business owner I am always looking for marketing ideas. Recently, Groupon.com has been featured on the news as the greatest way to expand client base. 2 weeks ago I contacted them via their online form. 2 days later I followed up with an email to their advertising department. No response. A few days later, thinking maybe I made a mistake on the form, I filled out the form wrong. Still nothing. Now 2 weeks later I called and spoke with someone in customer support- they do not allow calls to the sales department. She informed me that someone will be in touch in 4-6 weeks!!! This is deplorable. They need to understand that if demand increase so too should their capacity. Poor management. Awful execution.

It seems certain now that Google has made a $6 billion offer to buy Groupon. Just thought I'd mention it. Nothing definite yet but Groupon execs are rumored to have been spotted going into Ferrari dealer showrooms all day ;-)

I offer cosmetic services. Groupon checked my licenses before running my offer, but didn't ask for insurance. I would assume that the consumer should check credentials with the company directly if it's important to them.

I got an immediate response to my initial inquiry. My salesperson was always responsive and my offer was up and running within a few weeks. It probably would have been faster if it weren't for my hesitance. I guess it depends on the team in your region.

I had some other gripes about my experience, but their interest in taking my money and running my deal was not one of them.

Still too soon to say whether the deal paid off, but time will tell. I think there is potential here, aside from some growing pains.

Thanks, I must admit to being a lot more interested in this one since Google got involved. I can't afford to spend anything on anything, myself, even at a discount, so I don't use the company, but it does seem that Groupon is going places regardless of the quality of their service and that's going to be interesting to watch.

Rumor has it that $6 billion is peanuts given the amount of spare money sloshing around the Valley right now and that Groupon is taking the gamble of holding out for a lot more (see: Facebook).

I have just printed out my Groupon vouchers and found out that I have been sent one voucher for a London restaurant, not the two I ordered and have paid for. Its customer service is closed and I have booked the table so we are going to brunch anyway, but I am really disgusted. Am I missing something re the way vouchers can be used?

I have received and been billed for groupons i did not purchase. I have also purchased groupons i later decided were crap...and groupon customer service has been very quick to rectify and refund the order. Even on weekends. Submit your email and they do get back to you promptly. However, check closely the deals you are buying. Some of the offers have hidden fees or higher shipping rates to compensate for the price adjustment and it ends up not being much of a deal after all. Keep in mind that groupon keeps a fair amount of each sale...making it difficult for the business to extend a truly good offer while still making enough to cover their expenses. If groupons sales % breakdown was more in favor of the business, consumers would be getting much better deals. Especially true with tangible products that require shipping.

Thanks for your feedback Nicole. Yes, Groupon customer services did in fact get back to me last night and I am hoping we'll sort things out. Agree that reading the fine print is essential.

I tried to register for Groupon that expires on the March 21, 2011 and it came back that my e-mail address is already used. How and why is this happening? I receive e-mails from your company every week. The question is what can I do about this?

Carol B.

Does anyone know how to contact Groupon? Not support, but the corporate office. I sent an email to support asking for a feature to be added to the mobile groupon program and got a reply that was not acceptable and unprofessional and I want to report this to corporate.

I just bought my first offer on Groupon. How will I receive the voucher to show my purchase? Is this my only means to contact you or do you have a phone number where I can talk to a real person? AL

I am planning on featuring my business on this site and the comments got me thinking, will it be worth all the hassles? My business is quite new and all I wanted is some kind of advertisement even if the profit will be a little less than expected. Any advise you guys can give me?

My question is: Can you put a little box in for people to say WHERE they use whatever's being reviewed, i.e., LOCATION? That way we'll have info specific to our area.

Groupon is a scam. I was receiving daily emails for around 3 months waiting for something that was worth trying. Each day they offered a $20 item for only $10. After a few months, I saw a Groupon for a pizza place about a 15 minute drive from me. So I decided this would be a good time to try it. I filled out all the information and they sent me the Groupon to use which would give me $10 off any purchase $20 or more. So I bought a pizza that was around $24. I paid the correct amount according to the Groupon, around $14. But at the end of the month, I got billed from Groupon for $10. Where is my savings? I went out of my way for a pizza that was not worth going out of my way for and I paid full price. This is what I call a scam.

After reading all of these negative comments about Groupon, I HAVE to put my two cents worth in; I have used several Groupon certificates without fail. Ten at least. I used 3 just this past weekend and everything went very smoothly. I believe the problem lies in the fine print. Make sure you read all of the exclusions before you buy it and if it's YOUR fault then don't come on here whining about it. A lot have certain time frames they must be redeemed by and some aren't allowed to be used on holidays, etc. but not once have I ever had a problem. Groupon has saved me a lot of money and I will continue to use this service. To say it's a scam is completely misleading. I will be using 2 certificates tomorrow and I called ahead to confirm my reservation today as it said to do so in the guidelines. Everything is a go and I'm looking forward to enjoying a nice hour and a half cruise in Chattanooga tomorrow. Use common sense. Not every Groupon is completely worth it in my opinion, but I paid $14 for 2 tickets which saved me $25. I am aware that I still am required to pay the tax and gratuity because it's not covered but as a smart shopper, I was aware of that BEFORE I bought the Groupon certificate. Groupon is definitely not a scam. Learn how to use it and enjoy the heck out of it like I have :)

anyone bought groupons for buffets? my family recently bought groupons for a buffet lunch at a nice hotel and i wanna know what its like. cos the reviews don't seem too good. thanks!

Can I have a word for businesses- the Groupon culture is forcing prices to unviable levels. - Sold as an opportunity to get customers through the door, Groupon may be unaware that a culture of voucher chasers has been created - i.e. they don't come back, they don't buy ' extras' - they just move on to the next voucher provider, ok, you can't blame people, but businesses make a huge loss - whilst coping with increasing overheads - a number of businesses have reported that signing up has been their death knell. - It's a great concept, and well done, but some control over coverage would be helpful to relationships.

Is anyone having a problem getting a response back from Let It Sparkle? A cleaning service in the Halton Region? Since Oct 2011, I have tried a large number of times to contact the company through their website and phone number, and only once received a phone message back from them. When I did try to call them, their phone services was not taking calls. I actually gave two coupons to the services as gifts at Christmas. How extremely embarrassing when they have the same experience as I am having! Also, the coupons expire in June 2012. Money down the drain! If I don't hear from the company next week, I will have to call Groupon customer service again.

how do you complain to Groupon about the quality of an offer that you bought and used?

The customer service number is 888 375 5777 mon-fri 9-5 CST

.The resturant for which I have a Groupon is closed for renovations, Groupon will not provide a refund until the restyrant is closed for "renovations" no longer how long it takes.I no longer trust Groupon!!

How can I print out the 4 groupons that I have paid for with my visa card.

From Chaim Fischer, e-mail address: chaimfis@smile.net.il

i purchased a security camera and they told me wrong address how do i get the correct address to them

I am wanting to buy the guitar for my husband for father's day, but I have seen some bad reviews on here about groupon. Has anyone bought the guitar and can tell me if it is as nice as it says it is. It say 76 has been purchased already... so I just wanna make sure before I sink that much money into this deal and get burned. please respond to charitywaycaster@ymail.com

I bought a facial deal through Groupon and was told by the spa that they are completely booked and can only use the value as a credit. Which means I will have to pay the difference for the same service offered!!!!! The spa is The Duke Morgan in New Orleans so don't buy from them. I will also delete my Groupon app of they don't get me my money back !!

D'you know what, as a business owner, Groupon is the death knell !!!!!!!!!! You fall for the talk, and sell vouchers etc etc, but it undercuts your margins, and they have no scruples about ' areas' so everybody around you is doing the same thing, and you end up with a voucher chasing culture - so forget what they say about repeat sales - it truly doesn't work - for the business - fortunately we kept going by changing premises and re branding - and having NOTHING more to do with it - and we weren't alone in this experience - Just tread carefully guys

My only problem with Cobone / Groupon / Nail the Deal etc. is that once after I register, I start getting a crazy amount of spam over the email. Does this mean they're selling their customers lists to third (business) parties?...

Also - double check beforehand when possible as not every deal is a deal! I remember recently viewing a voucher in either Cobone or Groupon about a 1 overnight stay + breakfast & dinner in a Fujairah 5* hotel for, let's say, 850 AED discounted price (really cannot quote the exact amount). Meanwhile, the website of that same hotel offers promotion of 1 overnight stay + breakfast only for 600 AED. Again - roughly the figures. So... what deal is that, paying 250 AED for a meal.

I got an email from Groupon for a local frozen yogurt shop. I clicked on the email to get into that Groupon offer. I clicked on "buy" and got a response thanking me for buying the coupon and that I would get an email with the coupon. I never bought anything from Groupon before and I never entered my billing info into Groupon. I got the coupon email but I am afraid to click on it. Is this malware?

Ok so I purchased three concert tickets through groupon and this is the first per chase I've ever made, well I clicked redeem thinking that's what you have to do in order to print it. Well I was wrong and now it says expired what can I do? And how do I properly print the other two I have

I bought a Groupon for Fuel Vegetarian in Kalamazoo. I called to make the reservation required and left my phone number and date and time of reservation but they didn't call me back. So I went to their website and made a reservation on-line, and again, no response. So my vegetarian friend drove over an hour for lunch with me there - they weren;t open. I want a refund for my Groupon...that's 10 dollars.
