GoodReads has a rating of 2.8 stars from 71 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. GoodReads ranks 4th among Literature sites.
If you're a book fan, like I am, you'll love this site, too! You can look for a review of a book you want to read and fins out what others think about it. You can review books yourself and give your honest opinion, You can become a member of the site (it's free) and join groups that share your interests and you can also try and locate books that have eluded you, because you forgot the title and/or author, and you just may find what you're looking for! I ought to know: with help from people on the site, I found two novels I'd pretty much given hope of ever locating! Now that I know the titles and authors, I've found one online, the other at Amazon! Without Goodreads, I'd still be searching. Like I said, I love it!
How can they really allow you to rate an unreleased book and allow the review to say "dumb liberal author. Used to like him but hate him now because he's a libtard" Terrible app/site. I wouldn't recommend believing their reviews. Ps. Even their staff don't care about this tactic as if you report to remove literal spam they'll say you were in the wrong.

ALL of the positive 4 and 5 reviews are BOOK REVIEWS! Is everyone stupid - this is a site to rate GOODREADS - not a place to leave your Book review for some random book!
These BOOK REVIEWS push up the GOODREADSA RATING, which should be less than 2 stars - like on TrustPilot - if they would ALSO delete the BOOK REVIEWS on their page about GoodReads.
Obviiously some scammer at Goodreads found a way to get 5 star reviews for their terrible platform.
How can we trust SiteJabber - is it all like this? Does no one ever check and am I the first to notice this - and to speak out?
Too much going on. I wish there was an IMDB for books, GoodReads is not it. Its an ok site to keep track of the books you read, sort of, but keep in mind that it will just add dates and books that you didn't read. I have one book on the site that I read once, GR has it listed as reading twice, all during a similar time period. Can I change that? Like I said, 'not very user friendly' so apparently not.
As far as searching for a particular list of books, too darn much advertising to actually get through to the bottom of the list. And it doesn't quite get what your looking for.
They take away the authors rights to their own work by giving them zero control over the author's content. Shady behavior and unethical.
It's now gone to a shameful corner of targeting authors and with policies bordering on the unlawful. No explanations will be given, your books will magically lose ratings, covers will be misplaced, books you never wrote will appear on your author profile...
After the Amazon take over, it's been terrible.

Well I've been using the app for a while now and its not bad at all. Unlike other free online apps though you pay to read the really good stuff in this app which kinda sucks, but all in all its a great app!.
Goodreads is a great place to see and also write book reviews. If you're a love books, I recommend going to Goodreads. Love this social media for readers. Now I track all my readings and can get decent recommendations. Lovely
What if I was a kid? Goodreads is not a secure site. Remove yourself from the site or you will also receive emails from hookers... unless that is your thing. I am angry and this needs to be dealt with. I am going on social media to warn others of this problem. I have tried to cover the 'f' word in the email
Goodreads is like a counterpart to IMDb--while IMDb is mostly geared towards movies and T. V. shows, Goodreads is all about books.
However, in terms of actual usability, Goodreads suffers. While the base functions that make up the site--the ability to rate, review, and list the books you've read--are intuitive enough, a lot of the other functions can be difficult and decidedly less intuitive if you don't already know what you're looking for.
There's also the issue that the mobile app version of the site is even less intuitive, and makes some of those base functions that make the site desirable at all difficult. This isn't the kind of thing that you want from your site, especially when there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of viable alternatives.
In terms of the culture on the site, a lot of the reviews are essentially trash that don't tell you a whole lot about the actual quality of the book. They tend to either be quite shallow one-paragraph reviews that read more like a blurb a publisher would write for the book, or they're so. Gif heavy that it's difficult to get through them at all.
While Goodreads is a good concept, it needs a bit of work to make it everything it could be.
Except for having an astonishing library, this site has good service for finding reviews of books. Usually, before start reading, I like to check others opinion on a book. Using this service I found the 2 most important features for me - an easy way to find a book of my interest and checking reviews of others on it.
I had a really annoying bug with my account. The "my bookshelf" icon is supposed to show the last three books that were added. Mine displayed the same three random books, all of which I disliked and had rated 1 star. After it didn't go away over a couple months and updates, I contacted their "support". It was a bit annoying to see the same three books I hated every time I went to add a new book and rating. I was told they would look into it and fix if. After a few months passed, I contacted them againthis time I was told it was reported, they were sorry it was annoying, but that no one was working in it... it was in their queue, but no promise could be made they would ever do anything about it. Subsequent contacts I always got dismissive responses from the same horrible agent. After a year and a half of having this bug, I gave their app a one star review. I got an immediate developer response that they were looking for a fix ASAP (public criticism seemed go get their attention in a way private contact did not)too bad this turned out to be a lie to make them look better to those reading my negative review. If has now been two years since I reported the issue, and months since their second promise of an ASAP fix. Nothing has changed, and the customer service rep is as dismissive as ever. I finally deleted my account. Amazon is apparently on with buggy and unsupported apps and paying people to treat their users line garbage.
Good resource but doesn't seem developed by the owner, Amazon, much at all. Sometimes you find great books to read just by seeing books that are related to your existing collection. That's a great way to browse and discover the many Millions of books that exist.
The site does not require verification of reading or purchasing. Some users post fake ratings without reading the books. There are no reviews written along with the ratings. The site owner must be conscious about the consequence of the irresponsible site. Goodreads must have a legitimate policy.
I joined this reading site thinking it would be so simple. I found 2 books and tried to sart reading one. Found no way to read no where telling me to start although it told me i was reading. Sent messages to ask why no answer sent another 1 no relpy went to moderator site thought they might help but nothing so no i would def not recommend goodreads. I have got it from the library

Do NOT trust reviews on Goodreads. Between author shills, troll wars and the staff deleting good reviews for books by authors that are attacked by their pet trolls, there is no credibility in a large number of the so called reviews. They do not require a 'reviewer' to read a book to review it.
Approach with caution, and depend on reading samples as the review section has become like a high school in bad neighborhood.
I follow them on Instagram and check the website for more than 5 years now. Besides reviews of books, there can be found recommendations and lists of books by genres. As for me what makes this website special is to share your thoughts on books.
Goodreads is so amazing. It's great to share what I read with other readers and getting recommendations. Easy to navigate.
I don't find any usefulness on this website, I was searching for free books download, i found this website and it asked me to rate the book before downloading any book, it asked me to rate around 20, i did it still i was not able to download. Finally i thought i wasted a lot of time rating and going into this website. I dont recommend it
I must say i love this particular website. Great neighborhood associated with visitors putting up thoughtful feedback. Looking at the buying price of books these days, it is worth purchasing a book from this site. In addition, you receive announcement and also ads through experts or maybe submitting brands you are interested in.
I really enjoy reading books in the app because since they have a large variety of books of different categories and its hard to get bored there.
If you are careful, and know who to avoid, you can do some valuable networking on Goodreads, finding some great new books and meeting some great new friends. But you have to approach this site with extreme caution, because there is a small group of people, supported by a number of the employees and volunteer librarians on the site, who do their best to run off and destroy the careers of any Indie authors that come to their attention. Authors, take EXTREME care on this site. Readers, take many reviews with a grain of salt - a lot of them are fake. Usually it is easy enough to tell, but not always. If the site would more carefully enforce its Terms of Service regarding personal attacks on fellow Goodreads members and authors, it would make a huge difference; as it is, they seem to be rather selective about it.
Have been using it almost for two years and I 100% satisfied. I have found a lot of interesting poeple, readers and writers on site and keep the contact with them till now. Also, there are a lot of useful options on the website which help you track your book reading progress and rating.
The largest site for readers and book recommendations. Find new books, recommend books, track your reading, join book clubs, win advanced copies, and much more!
