For me it's helpful to know which numbers are scams and other people are getting the same calls. There are so many scam artists today and they know how to get money out of people.

BigA is a troll which frequents the site and makes personal, derogatory replies to posts. It's rather off-putting and I have stopped posting there in "fear" of this trolls nasty remarks. It often calls posters stupid, lazy, tells them they need psychiatric help, etc. It appears the administrators or moderators of the site are unable to control this troll as it has been an ongoing issue.

I used 800 Notes for years and loved them! I went there all the time to get info and to post my experiences. Then recently I started get attacked by the people there. It is mostly the admins who do this. They are insulting, nasty and full of themselves. They talk down to those who post, calling them liars and trolls and they use big words trying to impress each other and us. Get a life, I'm so done!

I truly am not sure about the experiences all these other people had. Several years ago I started reporting spam calls, telemarketing, etc. to 800notes. It seems as though the site has numerous trolls on it, who love to belittle the commenters. While I do recognize some of these calls or not meeting the website's requirements to be reported, and others don't necessarily need to be reported, some of the comments are where these trolls will gang up on the commenter. Relentlessly, too. All in all, not a great experience. I'd rather use the many, many other sites to report spam calls.

While many problematic phone numbers can be found on the site along with much helpful information, the biggest problem I have with that site is the nasty holier-than-thou attitudes of the long-time regulars and moderators and their lemming followers.

This is a TERRIBLE site! The site's own administrators ATTACK and CRITICIZE posters who are just trying to provide information to help other users.

I find it interesting that most of the public information-sharing forums for spam callers have been shut down or otherwise blocked from appearing in Google search results. As I read through some of the reviews if this site I note that many of the negative reviews are written by people who obviously speak english as a second language - which should tell you something.

I use 800Notes for more than 10 years. This used to be a very good site but not any more. There are some very rude people keep pending and harassing your posts. Special the one, BigA, who can delete my posts, not sure he is a moderator or not. And he is very rude bad English person.

800notes does have some good info, however there are so many numbers that have no info listed. Don't mention Nomorobo's lack of blocking known scam numbers or your post will forever say post pending moderator approval, even tho the scam number is on Nomorobo.com/lookup as a Robocaller Warning as if both sites are linked. Not a scam just SUCKS

Like many others who have posted critical reviews, many years ago I would regularly use 800Notes to post spam and scam phone numbers, in an attempt to educate people who come across these numbers. Yesterday I made my first post there in a few years. I was immediately attacked by a group of trolls, the worst among them "BigA" (which may be short for "BigA**hole"). They hazed me, called me a liar, referred to my accounts of falling victim to a scam as "imaginary" and "unbelievable," etc. One of the trolls did eventually try to help a bit by suggesting that I post at another site called Scammer Info (even while still accusing me of lying). That bit of advice was about the only good thing that came of my experience yesterday on 800Notes. In the future, if I ever fall victim to another scam, I will use the website Scammer Info rather than 800Notes.

Tip for consumers:
For scams, skip 800Notes and use Scammer Info instead.

This site has been very helpful in identifying unknown numbers. More often than not when I visit the site I find out the identity of the number's owner. There are a lot of companies out there who share any information you enter on their site, which leads almost immediately to unwanted unknown calls. Thankfully there are sites like this one who can help identify the caller to determine whether or not it's spam or legitimate.

They have trolls that work for debt collectors that have posts removed or they senselessly attack innocent posters with antagonistic and juvenile commentary. They even some how get the posts removed.

The trolls either own the site or they site sold out to the trolls like Tyger cat, Kat or Katz, Mikepembleton, Big A, etc... they ones with avatars.

I stopped contributing to this site, the challenged trolls ruined it. Not worth supporting the low class debt collectors, it defeats the purpose of 800 Notes.

There is also Tamianth that trolls behind the scenes in a private forum called 800Auxillary. Its unknown if this Tamianth is also involved with 800Notes administration, but its a good bet. Mostly from 800Auxillary, Tamianth directs this gang of cyberbullys- CelticDragon, BigA, RustyMcNuggets to attack any comments their pinheads happen to come across, and cant understand or happen not to agree with.
Seems its more entertaining now to start a big fight there, day after day, hour after hour, instead of sharing pertinent info with other online sites. Way too many leads are derailed or misdirected from all the aggression coming from a select few. Everyone has an opinion, but does it need to be gang launched at every comment?!? Dont know how many times an ordinary person gets jumped on, because one of the ever present ankle biters gets their panties in a twist. Then it spreads to 800Auxillary where gang voting on their own redundant posts further alienates newcomers. Forbid newcomers, or anyone else ever tell the ankle biters where to shove it, and quickly become relegated to a dog pile on em status.

Do not use this site, just verify phone numbers yourselves directly with the parties involved. You cannot determine the validity of a number through this site, nor learn any verified and accurate information either. Any verifiable facts you share yourself will be promptly responded to in an extremely hostile way by a group of trolls who continuously monitor the site to harass, insult, brigade, and throw accusations at people without reason rather than helping in any way to add and verify information.

After receiving a call from a number that differed from my bank's usual numbers, I grew suspicious and paranoid about it and decided to double-check if it was legitimate. Before separately calling the institution directly through their normal numbers, I quickly googled the mystery number and grew concerned at the comments about it on this site, where people's experiences were very mixed. However, I did manage to confirm the call's validity with my institution afterwards, so I went back to leave a comment in case it was helpful.

I was immediately harassed and accused of being a scammer by the aforementioned group of trolls, despite already stating in my comment that the institution didn't (and wouldn't ever need to) ask for any personal information, and that they only called from the number to confirm all of the details they already had for my transaction. I also noted that the only way to be safe and to know if the call was legitimate is to call back through a known phone number instead, but these facts were all ignored.

Always verify phone numbers directly with parties involved, don't leave it up to random internet trolls and spammers. All this site does is instill unnecessary confusion and paranoia in people rather than giving out a common sense approach that solves all concerns: Don't respond to random calls and never give out your personal information, nor ever believe random crowdsourced information online. Let it go to voicemail, and if it is of relevance or concern to you, contact the appropriate parties or authorities via known numbers instead. This approach solves problems. Meanwhile, 800Notes only causes problems.

Most reverse call directories charge a lot. 800 notes doesn't charge to post and read posts. 800 notes lets real people post info about scam calls and robo calls. Of course the companies that make the robo calls and scam calls want it shut down.
I do not answer my phone if I do not know who is calling. I always check 800 notes to see who it is.
If multiple people have left a negative review of the number, I immediately block the number.

This site is worse than Ripoff Report and should be banned. They allow anyone to post anything without verifying the identity of the person making the post. At least Yelp and the BBB has some kind of verification!

I have used 800 notes and to a lesser extent, whocallsme for several years since I get about 10-15 telemarketing calls PER DAY. I've tried everything - call blockers switching numbers (which was expensive and didn't help) and one of the tools I use to help find out who is harassing me -AND to help spread info- is the 800notes site. Over the past couple years I have found their moderators to be horrible bullies. They make posters feel bad about the posts and cut into many threads and remove posts that - more likely than not - do have some useful information in them. The bully moderators make the posters feel demeaned and by removing posts that they deem "in violation" of their precious rules or TOS, they actually make sure nobody wants to ever post on that site again. If 800notes and whocallsme were ever to disappear, it would be a tremendous win! There are many many other sites on which to post good information.

Tip for consumers:
Don’t post there; they’ll bully you!

Simple! It is just another website where anyone can post about an unknow/unwanted phone call. Users can inform others about a call they received. The issue with people who complain about 800notes are that they are caught posting for their own selfish reasons, such as scammers trying to persuade people their calls are legitimate. There are those who want to tell "stories" of their own personal "adventures" as an inexperienced scambaiter and when caught, they troll the website with many fake posts and target the Community Members, calling them trolls.
The simple fact is these troublemakers are the ones who go to review sites to try discrediting the site when they can't accomplish their goals. No one is forcing them to keep going to 800notes, yet they have such a wealth of "knowledge' about it because they are constantly going to the website and getting thwarted, so they complain about it. Some have even gone as far as spamming the website with thousands of fake posts because they were caught by someone.

I hope everyone who even cares about reviews of a website for phone calls, takes the time to use common sense and use good judgement.

Tip for consumers:
Use your own judgement on any advice as a means to aid you in making your own decisions.

If you are being bullied by a moderator/administrator on 800Notes please let me know by emailing administrator at scammerblaster.com

I own the website ScammerBlaster.com and we disable dozens of scam sites and over 200 scammer phone numbers every day. In their jealous rage, 800Notes decided it would be cute to try come after me. It was a very bad move, because I disabled certain aspects of their website as a result. They FINALLY stopped the harassment and so I stopped disabling aspects of their site.

The site looks and reads like a pathetic comic book, with a billion ads you get hit with on page load, however, they do a lot of good work in exposing scams and unwanted callers. Correction, AMAZING work. In fact, my team and I heavily rely on 800Notes to find scammer numbers regularly. But you have to take the good with the bad. An admin known as "BigA" is hell-bent on making the experience of posting on 800Notes very bad... for some.

Here's the thing: They make over $60k per year on ad placements on their site. I have the ability to shut down ALL their ads and they will lose all their revenue, and they know I have the power to do it. As such, if you have ANY issues, past the date of this post, please let me know and I will get it resolved quickly. I am only extending this offer because I have been bullied and harassed by 800Notes administrators, and I I have documented hundreds of examples of their horrible behavior spanning over 3 years now, 99% from the asswipe known as "BigA". I have the desire and the ability to bring an end to it, so if you get bullied or harassed by 800Notes admins reach out to me without delay.

This is the most asinine website on the Internet. There's nothing there but contradictory guesswork, stupid inaccuracies, misinformation, and outright lies. Anyone who tries to point some of this out is viciously savaged by a chorus of paranoid know-nothings who insist that every phone number is a scam. It's operated by a rotten bunch of idiots.

I have posted various unwanted calls at 800notes.com, for years. Recently, I have been receiving a rash of unwanted calls - approximately 10 per day - and I've been posting each number religiously at 800notes.com. I was taking my own time to try to help others like myself who really dislike junk/SPAM/phishing/unwanted calls. I never answer the unwanted calls I receive, and usually there is no message left. Never in all of the years of my posts, have I ever had a problem with anyone at 800notes. Next thing I know, as is mentioned over and over here at sitejabber.com, other "regulars" on the 800notes.com site (BigA, MikeHuntleton, and Gunnar) attack me shut off my posts with "post pending moderator approval", and say I'm posting garbage, "you are not reporting anything we didn't already know before you posted", "When a Troll crawls out from beneath a bridge they often become belligerent. No big deal, we know how to deal with them.", etc. Unwanted numbers calling me, approximately 10 per day now, were not listed on 800notes.com - so my posts were in fact reporting something users of 800notes.com did not previously know. How can I report who the caller is, what they said, etc., when I never answer an unwanted call? I now expect I will never post another unwanted call again st 800notes.com, which is exactly what BigA, MikeHuntleton, and Gunnar desire - and users of 800notes.com will not benefit from additional data I would post there. BigA, MikeHuntleton, and Gunnar, and others = they use 800notes.com as their Facebook substitute - and parade around with "big power" there. Adios! I'll do what I can to bury and wash 800notes.com away by posting the unwanted calls I receive in another MUCH less dramatic unwanted call reporting site. ZERO star vote for 800notes.com, thanks to BigA, MikeHuntleton, and Gunnar. Getting a new IP address is no big trick - see you soon?

Tip for consumers:
TIP = do not use 800notes.com!

I use 800Notes to see if a number I do not recognize is a potential scammer, and to report a scammer when I have actually answered their call. I am sure scammers and telemarkers are upset by this service, but we have the right to tell others who they are. I like to label them on my phone, so when they do call, I ignore them. They do tend to be persistent and change their numbers over and over, so it is never ending job to inform people and to help them keep their money in their own pockets.

Tip for consumers:
Sometimes people who report on a number do not realize it's a legitimate business, like their insurance company or prescription provider. There are usually other users who will correct them.
If you have spoken to someone from one of these numbers and recognize them as a scammer or debt collector or whatever, it would be nice to leave a note telling the rest of the people.

What was once a 5 star website... has degraded into a 1 star.

As many have pointed out, "BigA" is probably the biggest offender... though "Slim" ranks right up there too. These people, who apparently have no personal life, must literally stalk the forum for hours a day, looking for places to leave snide and demeaning comments. This has to be the case because very often their responding remarks are immediate and, more often than not, are personal attacks that aren't based upon anything factual and add nothing of value. Absolutely no additional info or insight for the number being reported.

It's all very knee-jerk, hateful, petty and ridiculous... no better way to describe... and it's not just comments aimed at something I post... I cringe at comments left for others as well... because it's all so unnecessary. For example, they'll even go so far as to question and criticize a person's command of the English language... as if EVERYONE using the site has English as their primary language and can communicate like a Rhodes Scholar.

I've also noted on various occasions where someone posts info about a given number and the info is attacked as being inaccurate... only to be followed by further posters sharing and verifying the same info as the original poster. It makes you wonder if they don't have a stake in some of the scams associated with numbers being reported... and do what they can to run interference and attempt to discredit the info.

VERY often their diatribes violate the site's very own "Terms of Service". You can report the comments... yet seldom is anything done. It's as if the site has registered "users" like "BigA"... but VERY little in the way of oversight for abusive behavior. Quite frankly, if it was my site and I had a registered user regularly exhibiting that type of behavior... I'd shut down the account and ban the IP.

Bottom line... it's time to strike it off the list of online resources to use. 800notes has lost a lot of its early credibility and its usefulness has diminished exponentially. Today there are far better sites with far better info where you don't have to be subjected to, or see others being subjected to, personal abuse. It's literally become uncomfortable to use; certainly to be an active participant of. It should be demonetized, and I agree with another poster that states they should no longer be listed with Google.

Update 9/19/22
Ladies and gentlemen... the 5 star review shared on 9/17/22 is one of the very registered users you've seen mentioned within these reviews (although not in mine), and one of the most frequent contributors, at 800notes.

He's not attempting to post an honest review... he's posting damage control... and he can be seen exhibiting this same behavior at other websites like the BBB & Complaints Board to name a couple. The 800notes site is his playground... it's where he hangs out. He doesn't want to see it denigrated... he doesn't want to see it de-listed... and he doesn't want to see it demonetized... hence his efforts to throw ice water on the bad press they're receiving as a result of the abhorrent behavior of the registered users there.

He wants to write off... and wants you to believe... that the poor site reviews listed here are merely coming from frustrated and aggrieved scammers. I don't doubt that occurs a little bit... but not to the extent he wants you to believe. The bulk of the behaviors I've witnessed, experienced firsthand, and written of herein... can in NO WAY be simply attributed to frustrated scammers.

They have a genuine issue on that site... and by trying to defend it here, they refuse to acknowledge it. Just above the text box used to enter information about a phone number on that site is a reminder: "Share information, not emotions. Please watch your language. Abusive messages will be removed." They frequently cannot, or simply will not, abide by this simple instruction. Civility is sorely lacking.

Also, as a final point of clarification... my experience on that site has been solely with individual numbers being reported. There is a forum... and I have browsed it... but have never bothered to post there because it really appears to be nothing more than a back-slapping, circle-jerk for the very "registered users" I've described... and they frequently exhibit their same abysmal behaviors towards everyone except the other "regulars" in the forum (sort of an honor among thieves, I guess). No thanks.
