In May of 2018, I hired Word of Mouth Carpet Restoration to clean the grout on my porcelain floor. The Company is operated by 3 brothers, although Eric Vander Wiede is the only person listed on the Company's license and insurance. From the start, it was like watching a circus act. As they began spraying the floors with the cleaning agent, I noticed they were soaking my baseboards. I mentioned it wasn't a good idea to saturate the wood - "We do this all the time. It won't hurt anything". As the day progressed, the baseboard began to swell and buckle throughout the area they cleaned. Not to mention, the grout didn't look any better than before they arrived.

That evening I contacted the brothers to express my frustration and included pictures of the baseboard. They offered to return the following day to clean the floor a second time. I was reluctant based on their displayed incompetence, however they assured me their cleaning method was guaranteed and they could say with 100% certainty their cleaning process would never damage my floor (a high gloss porcelain floor that I put down in 2017). Upon their second trip, they agreed they ruined the baseboard and cleaned the floor a second time. Before they were done, I began to notice the sheen on the porcelain was "smudged" and it was full of what appeared to be water spots. They frantically carried their equipment back in the house and this time began pouring the cleaning solution right out of the manufacturers bottle (without the sprayer). The 3rd application made it even worse!

Subsequent to that day in May 2018, the Company filed a claim with their insurance provider. Their adjuster inspected the damage and wrote an estimate for $52,000 but later determined Word of Mouth Carpet Restoration did not have adequate coverage; ultimately denying to pay the claim (their website clearly states they are "fully insured" womcleaning.com). The brothers later returned to my house with a flooring specialist to conduct an inspection and throughout the next several months brought in numerous restoration companies. During their visits, they applied chemicals and heated parts of the tile in an effort to restore the finish - only to make it even worse. In December 2018, Eric requested written estimates through my attorney to replace and install a new floor of which I promptly provided. After receiving the estimate, Eric requested another "onsite inspection to determine the causation of the damage" rather than attempting to settle the claim. Based on multiple site inspections, and failed attempts from the restoration companies they brought to my house over a 6 month period, I refused. It was at that point they stopped responding to emails from my attorney and me. I'm now filing a lawsuit and will be suing them personally
