“Perfect for what I need”

As a photographer, I've been using Songfreedom for several years for my music. I love the monthly plan they've implemented. It saves me so much money that way. And they have top 40 music, which is fantastic for my high school seniors who love to know the songs that are on their slideshows and videos. It's nice that they have a basic slideshow creator, perfect for my clients' ordering sessions, and when I need something more in-depth, i use Songfreedom music and create the slideshow/video on Final Cut Pro instead. Can't beat the music selection anywhere. Two thumbs up.

“Always down and mostly bad music”

M S.

At the very least it would be nice to use our paid subscription but the site is frequently down for hours or even days. When time is an issue (always is) this is unacceptable. I have not been able to finish and deliver projects because the site is down. Plus, the music choice is pretty bad. Most of their music costs extra to use on top of your subscription, so what's the point? I will be canceling. They were much better as Songfreedom.

Never trust a website where you are not able to cancel your membership within the website. I tried to submit an email in order to begin the process of canceling my membership and there was no effort to get back to me.

Ironic that the new name is called "Fyr" because just like the festival that never happened this is a scam. Don't trust this.

I asked to cancel my subscription multiple times. They tell me terms that I wasn't aware of regarding the account like the fact that you can't cancel your account and the subscription auto renews even if you ask to unsubscribe. There is no unsubscribe button. I'm planning on filing a fraud case Monday morning when the department of my bank starts.

Song Freedom is responsible for the payment of my royalties for a licensing deal that was landed by Luna Music Group, which later dissolved into Song Freedom. I have been trying to get paid for the licensing for almost a year.

I sent them a lot of e-mails asking for clarification, but their CEO and President Matt Thompson has only replied a handful of time. Their support specialists seem non-existing, because they never replied at all.

They owe me a lot of money and it seems like they just don't care. By their lack of commucation i get the feeling i am being screwed over by them.

My subscription was automatically renewed and 600$ were taken from my bank account. I emailed the support about 10 times. Most of the time they replied within a couple of days, claiming they would refund the money within the next days. I kept emailing them for four months. Eventually I threatened them to contact my lawyer and they refunded the money.

I'm surprised VISA allows them to still process. They should be kicked off. They have deceptive billing practices. Once you're signed up, youre screwed so don't do it.

They had a great site and music selection and I liked the scaling pricing depending on the song/artist. Then they updated and I somehow got into the monthly subscription, reached out and asked to cancel and got a response asking why and that they're happy to help. Still they didn't actually cancel and then two months later I asked again only to then be told I was in a year contract.

Once you signed up, you will need to pay $60 monthly for a whole year. Not done yet, it will renewed automatically after you are done with one year, and you will be paying for another subscription year if there is any songs have been downloaded from the website to your account. Beware!

As many of the other reviews have mentioned Songfreedom used a misleading advertising campaign where they make it look like you are getting a free trial but are in fact signing you up for a year subscription. If you point out that you were mislead they offer some kind deal to appease you but what they should be doing is admitting it was misleading and stopping the subscription entirely. If they do not receive their payments they take to bullying and say that they music owners are going to sue you for as much as $150,000 per song you used. They act like a company that is designed to make one aspect of filmmaking easier but are in fact making things more difficult for filmmakers.

The head staff at Songfreedom must have no idea how bad their customer service department has been for the past two years, or worse, they are aware and don't have a care in the world about their customers.

If you contact them through their contact form *******@songfreedom.com you'll have a person called Nadaley maybe respond to you if he feels like it. He's the main customer service operative for the past two years and he does a horrible job ignoring the majority of emails and sometimes getting back to you on one email which is beyond frustrating. Just look at the reviews on this website for proof of this, all the complaints have been 'they don't get back to me'. If he does get back to you he'll generally weave around the matter at hand or try offer you petty discounts to stay on rather than outright cancelling your contract even if your time has indeed ended.

As people have mentioned on this website their new discounted Annual Yearly Subscription is a very deceptive trap to anyone who signs up on it making it virtually impossible to come out. At the end of the 12 months it automatically renews into the second year and will begin charging you at the full rates with no warning whatsoever. You will not have a warning in your account and worse off there's nothing in their membership fine print regarding this. You then resort to emailing them, only to have your emails ignored as the months tick by and more money comes out this time at a much higher rate. I hope they either fix this broken system through a Knight in Shining Armour reading all these reviews or someone brings a lawsuit out against them and takes them all down. Initially before I had even subscribed to the Year plan I asked Nadaley if it was for 12 months or if it was a perpetual subscription who after two weeks responded saying it's for 12 months. Fast forward 15 months I'm still locked in to the Year Subscription paying double with him ignoring all my requests to cancel.

Unfortunately the only way to cancel the contract is to do what this other user on here did and that is call up your bank, and have them cancel the bank card and dispute any refunds owed to you. Nadaley will then try threaten you as another user mentioned which you can then safely ignore by marking all his emails as Junk Spam.

Other emails you can try email are: Jason Groupp (*******@songfreedom.com), Jamie Howze *******@songfreedom.com), or the CEO Matt Thompson (*******@songfreedom.com). Keep in mind all of them will ignore your emails but always worth a try if one of them end up being legitimate and wanting to fix things with their shocking customer service.

Hopefully by copying and pasting this or saving this picture and sending it to those emails we can all bring awareness to the head staff and hopefully get them to fix their broken, messed up system. If anyone hears of any responsive email address that actually wants to help please post it online here. #FreedomFromSongFreedom

The other reviews say it all, they are very deceptive with their billing practices and I would recommend looking elsewhere for your music needs.

Before the site was changed I had no issues. Purchases were easy and licences clear. A redesign made the UI 1000x better, but terrible UX. I signed up under a trial but had no way to cancel it after realising I do not need this type of service anymore. I contacted support and was told I would be notified soon with future membership options and would be able to cancel it then. A month down the line and I was automatically moved to a $60USD/m plan with no warning. Further correspondence with the support team did not help, and I was charged another $60USD. Now I am left $120USD out of pocket which is very painful as a student, with no direct answers from the team, and my subscription is still on a monthly renewal of $60USD. The membership page has no options to cancel membership, close accounts, or even to remove credit cards! It looks like I may have to go through my bank provider to get the charges blocked and blacklisted (very long and painful process). Because of this, I cannot recommend FyrFly-Songfreedom to anyone anymore.
