As stated above I have bought many fish from this site and have rarely lost any other than the result of water conditions on my end. It's important to follow the directions listed and put the fish in a quarenteen tank with reverse osmosis water, with the proper PH for the discus listed on his site that can be purchased there also. The smaller and cheaper discus are much trickier to raise imo than the larger size so keep that in mind.

I ordered 12 Discus fish and paid the high shipping for overnight delivery. The package came a day late. Once the package was late we notified the company and they said the packaging was guaranteed to stay warm for 72 hours. Fish arrived the next morning all dead, with 3 tiny heat packs that were cold. The water temperature was below 55 degrees. They refuse to accept responsibility for the shipping when they packaged them poorly. We have ordered plenty of live fish including salt water fish to our home without this problem. We have even had a successful shipment from this same company 2 years ago. Absolutely ridiculous. With that high shipping you should get a guarantee from the shipping provider. I posted a picture of the poor fish and the 3 tiny heat packs.

Sending me unhealthy discus fish and also I just complaint about recent order, they took me out from their account. Sending me tiny 1.25" to 1.5" discus fish. All skinny. And many fish did not make two weeks. Very few survived. Few of them alive and still looks about 1.5" and skinny after months of living.
Compare to Myrtle Beach Discus, I had to order extra discus fish and I got all healthy fish and all of them are doing really well. Please do not risk

This somethingsphishy.com discus place used to be good place and friendly place to by discus fish.
But not anymore. Fish sold are too sick and they will perish soon in the tank. Customer service is terrible. No Paypal accepted and No Customer service phone numbers exist.

I ordered 10 2" Discus fish. Read All the instructions. Followed All instructions. Bought a new 10 gallon aquarium and accessories. Set up the New aquarium to 84 degrees.

They arrived yesterday morning. Followed accumulation Requirements. Released the fish and All were alive and swimming in the Bag's. Looked healthy when I went to bed. Woke up at 7 am, to find All but One Dead.

$265.00, should Say $300 spent total. Advising Something Fishy Via email To them. Received Their Reply. Sorry To hear about your fish dieing.

NO Refund Or Replacement. We only guarantee they will arrive alive. I don't care about the Money per say. But I Do Care if Others have Payed their hard earned money, just To have them die.

I would Never Again Purchase anything from Something Fishy. Why because The Name Says Everything. SOMETHING IS FISHY going on.

In other words. Be aware They don't care about the customers Period. I

The website was malfunctioning. So I went to their chat help. Period they didn't believe that the website was doing what it was doing. And then they deleted my account when I complained and gave them a bad review. And said. Take your business somewhere else no problem

I met UPS for my aquatic delivery in my driveway on 12/14/2023 at 11:20am CDT (ordered on 12/6/2023). 5-large angelfish (not large at all) 2" discus=4 and tetras. 2 of the 5 angels were DOA, Quarantined the "survivors" (bags were leaky with very little oxygen), if any, for shipping fish next day. Five hours in from delivery and quarantin, 3 angels will NOT survive along with 1 discus as of this review. Normally in December weather is a factor in illinois, but today it was 51 degrees outside, so exposure to weather a none issue. Fish were poorly packaged and sent out to NOT survive in my environment. Do NOT BUY from this seller, FULL STOP! I wanted healthy fish delivered safely, the animals shipped to me suffered from poor shipping methods. My apologies for the photos, this is what the vendor wants from buyers to prove livestock is DOA (stick toothpicks in DOAs)...other photos show how fish are still struggling to survive 8 hours into being poorly shipped with very little oxygen. I wanted the fish which is why I spent over $300 on his shipment...NOT FREE STUFF from vendor=Do NOT Patronize unless you can walk/drive to pickup your livestock.

Their discus are carriers of the Blackdeath/ discus plague… I have raised discus for over 20 years and had 12 discus in tank for over 3 years with not a single issue including breeding pairs. I order their 10 pack to add to my school. All my discus have been slowly dying do to their discus being carriers of this. It can not be cured or treated and will carry it for life.when I contacted them just to inform them. Not asking for a refund or anything they were extremely rude and then deleted my account. So I could not access anything or leave a review on their page

I am not typically the type of person to rewrite a review because I know this can hinder the business. However, all of my fish died soon after I received them. Some a day after and other a week or two. The discus did look good for when I got them but they all died. Clearly stunted and possibly had the discus plague as well. They didn't eat when I got them but I assumed that was normal... then they all died. I even bought the food off of their site!

They stoped answering me the second day and never refunded me my money for 10 fish that died in 4 days the fish werre not packed properly or big enough to ship but they shipped them anyway. Uncaring seller who only lies to get sales i got 2 fish that lived a;ll the rest died in 4 days

The fish was weaker and smaller than expected.
Some were sick, those shouldn’t have been sold.

Buyer beware. I purchased A 10 pack of discus. I put them in my tank and 2 days later every fish in my tank was dead. Do not buy from this terrible site. Trash trash trash

Under no circumstances should one buy discus from this vendor. Most of them arrive undersized, and sick.
I have ordered three-3.5 inch discus. Only one arrived 3.0 inches, and healthy. Leopard discus was 2.75 inches, covered in ick, frayed fins, and malnourished. Blue snake-2.5 inches,malnourished, ick.
The packaging was poor, and the heating pads cold on arrival, even though I picked them up directly from UPS in their service center.
They are being treated, but not clear if they will survive.
The vendor refuses to remedy the situation. He states that he promised live arrival, and they arrived alive!

Customer service was good until I requested some fish added to my order. Their customer service is not nice after that. I got a e-mail that said they don't want to business with me because it is not profitable for them. Today I ordered 12 discus. The pot luck order of 10. They were healthy. They other two came in dead. The other one I found dead towards the evening. They gave me credit for one and will not credit me for the other one. They now blocked me off of their website and suspended my account. The two fish were $50.00 total. So it looks like I got ripped off $25.00. YAY I'll go else where. And I will tell everyone about them. I also kept all emails.

Keith the owner of the store is WORSE in terms of customer service. Customer have no right to question about their purchase. If you do have issues, he will threaten to close your account without trying to solve the problem. Stop! Doing business with this arrogant person. There are a lot of fish dealers online willing to give good service.

I ordered the 4 pack of 2" discus, the 2 blue strain turned completely black within 2 hours of receipt of them 1 died within 48 hours, the other is not long for this world, the 2 red strain seem to be doing ok, but they came in so "peppered" that I'll never know what their true colors could of been, I've e-mailed the owner and his only replies are for me to read the arrive alive guarantee, as long as they're alive when open the bag that's it, even my untrained eye could see they weren't healthy on arrival, please don't go by the reviews on their website, they obviously delete any that aren't 5 star

Bought 4 Discus advertised as 2 inch. Received fish the size of a quarter. Fish had internal parasite and look stunted. Contacted owner but got no response.

We received our discus fish today. We ordered 3, one purple, one blue and one red. The purple was barely alive and died hrs later. Being new to owning these fish I wasn't aware so I emailed to let them know. Keith responded with a very condescending way. He talked to me like I was stupid. Here was part of his email "When you buy seeds, the packets have a picture of the plant, not the seed. You do not look now as you did as a toddler." When I read his smart-$#*! remark my blood boiled, I will not be ordering from them again.

I ordered 4 discus. 3 were healthy and are doing well. A 4th was alive when it arrived, but was gaunt, had a sunken head, was lethargic, and was obviously ill well before being sent to me. The owner takes no responsibility for the quality of the fish he sends. I can't complain about the 3 good fish I received, but I paid for 4 good fish, not 3 good fish and and a fish that was not long for this world when it arrived.

Half of the fish came dead or died within 24 hours. We bought 10 discuss and 5 are doing well after 2 days. I'll update later if they survive much longer. The ones alive look healthy. He will not include cost of shipping for refund!

This company has a terrible reputation but my husband had had neutral experiences with them in the past so we decided to order some fish from them. We ordered 10 fish and when they arrived they were in a container so small that we assumed that they had sent less fish than we paid for. When we opened the Styrofoam container all 10 fish were in there but they were in such small bags and packed so tightly that they were all dead but two. Initially we thought they were *all* dead because the two that were just barely alive were not moving. The return policy is such that the customer is asked to push a wooden toothpick through the dead fish, take a picture and send it to the company in order to get a refund. When my husband was taking them out of the bags to push the toothpick through them, we spotted the two that were just barely hanging on. Initially we sent an email to them very distraught and explaining that all of the fish were dead. A couple of hours later we sent a follow up email with the pictures of the dead fish explaining that two were actually alive. We got an email back accusing us of lying about all of the fish being dead, explaining that we were now banned from the website because of that lie and that a refund would be processed for the fish only, not the shipping. The shipping was about $70, mind you. Awful customer service. Banning us was cute since my husband and I had already decided we would never buy from them again. The way those fish were packed was nothing short of animal animal abuse. Our poor children had to watch us unpack dead fish after dead fish. We would be crazy to order from them ever again. All of the negative comments have clearly been deleted from his website and he bans people to keep them from leaving negative comments. Don't waste your money. Just go to a local fish store and do it the old-fashioned way. UPDATE: I'm now a pathological liar according to his last email. I can't make this stuff up...

Very rude email when offering to give a large business order as well as the potential for future business orders. Due to their response that was all capitalized as though yelling at us we will take our business elsewhere. Would not recommend purchasing from an organization that treats their customers so poorly.

I know juveniles don't have the same coloring as adults, but all of mine show peppering and only one I'm sure is what I ordered. Of the 5 fish I ordered two died within a week. Even though it was well packed and arrived in time these guys were not just stressed but sickly. We had to work hard to get the other 3 healthy again. Be sure to quarantine them since they are probably sick and will infect your other discus. Also the refund policy is just terrible. Impale the discus with a toothpick and send a picture, clearly showing it through the little guy. I guess it's from scammers and maybe that's where the barbaric refund pictures and the owners attitude come from. I'll buy my discus from someone I like and trust, not here anymore.
