The overall reputation of the company is mixed, with users appreciating Skype's utility for staying connected through video and instant messaging, particularly in personal and business contexts. However, significant concerns arise regarding technical reliability, customer support, and billing practices. Many users report frustrations with software bugs, account access issues, and unresponsive customer service, which detracts from their experience. The sentiment indicates a growing dissatisfaction with the company's handling of problems and a perception of dishonesty in billing, leading some users to seek alternatives. Overall, while Skype remains a popular communication tool, its service quality and support require substantial improvement.

Good luck trying to fully cancel your membership. Days are limited for such scamster companies and their practices. This company will never regain trust.
Skype is valuable in business, It permits individuals to work from the home, it has numerous accommodating highlights including bunch video considering that saves a great deal of movement time and cash for the organizations, organizations can speak with associates, and it assists the organizations with conveying bunch gatherings from better places.
Easy to use.
Easy maintenance.
Easy to connect to another person.
I needed to switch my phone supplier as Skype did not integrate with my new CRM and it did not work most of the time either (they blamed my WiFi, but all other communication systems work fine).
I followed the full switching procedure several times together with the new telecoms provider but Skype have been extremely unhelpful, refusing to provide the details we need, leaving us to have to keep guessing and use trial & error.
After nearly 6 months of trying to get this resolved, I have had to cancel the Skype contract and lose the phone number too. Not ideal for my business, but I cannot spend any more time chasing them up.
When you need to contact them, it takes a significant amount of time waiting in queues and then waiting for each response as the support operators assist multiple people at a time. They then never get back to you when they promise (despite telling them I don't believe they will get back to me - they insisted they definitely will and make promises which they inevitably always break).
Taking this service has been a big mistake.
Is it just me? I've scoured the skype website to see if I can chat or call support and can find nothing. Every time I try to weave my way through the "Contact us" category to an actual person I end up back in the same Groundhog day of their virtual agent trying to guess(badly) at what my problem is. It SHOULD NOT BE THIS HARD. I ordered a monthly international credit for 200 minutes to Nicarague, assuming this would be more or less a 30 day thing, for $30. Turns our it expired at the end of THAT month... 3 days later. It also never worked. I'm trying to call to rectify the situation and it seems impossible. If anyone knows the fast track will you please share it with me?
One day my skype account didn't work. I undated everything nothing! After some time I finally tried to cancel my subscription but couldn't. Had to call my credit card company to shut down the card. Even to write this review it says if I don't include my subscription It may not get posted. Terrible.

Skype is most secure site for video calling for office meetings or family video calls, etc. And a very good option for conference calls as well.
Positive reviews must be from skype employees or those who use it on one device only and are technically ignorant.
Skype is basically spyware. It spies on your browser activity, recording and tracing it while u use skype instant messaging.
Run by microsuck they will delete your account for criticizing them in your private skype messages.
Slow to load and sign in. Frequent login problems. Cannot change devices or account will be blocked-another spyware feature.
Try line. It's better. In fact there are many IM programs that are better than skype.
I stopped using Skype a few years ago and this is why. I was getting one friend request after another from these so called women that kept sending me links to join porn websites. Blocking and reporting was not working as they just kept on coming. Read the Skype forum and other people were having these same issues but staff weren't listening and only closed the threads. In the end I got so annoyed and fed up with it, I quit Skype.
Terrible IM program unreliable. Cannot change computers-you will not be able to login. If you travel you skype will be unavailable to you since they automatically identify you as a hacker and block your account. Spy on your chat and will delete your account for promoting other im programs. Corrupt, incompetent company with bad user interface and poor support.
It's good because everyone has an account, but Zoom is much better for business style meetings and conferences
Skype is still a very solid international phone calling provider, it was one of the first to start video conference rooms, but is slower than newest version of chat rooms is still good
Cannot search members on Skype, returns error messages.
Messages undelivered, never received.
I believe Skype is hacked, probably internally by it's own staff.
Do not trust this app with any personal info.
Dishonest charges to bank without permission. Corrupt company earlier comment did not show here, This site not tor friendly, they want to track you.
Like everything else they touch microsuck ruined skype. It's hacked, u cannot maintain the same id/account. It's slow as molasses and they are dishonest, charging me for phone credits I did not approve after lying that they would not be imposed for several weeks. Bunch of wankers, I hope they are getting good salaries for their scam product. There is no limit what people will do to keep a job, they will work for liars and scammers and pretenders. U cannot keep the same skype id if you change computers without going through a bunch of bureaucratic crap verification procedures that usually fail. Their interface is very user unfriendly and you must stumble around wasting a lot of time trying to figure out how their crap program works or doesn't. Hopefully Trump will break up some of these consumer abusive companies, and now would not be anytime too soon. Started by a thief, billy boy gates and descending into a big incompetent company that, after years and years STILL cannot produce a good OS and is becoming more and more abusive with its totalitarian spying on your net activities. Really, these people should be in prison, not making money on the net. Sitejabber must be in cahoots with MS, since you cannot use a proxy to post here and you must enable javascript so they can track and profile you and maybe even ID you.
I use skype to keep in touch with distant friends and relatives. We can call each other and even see ourselves through webcams. Most technical problems are easy to fix cuz they are not always the fault of skype but of bad mic or camera
Personally I really like skype but sometimes its really slow or I cant here what the person on the other end is saying. Sometimes it just cuts off the person but on rare occurrences does skype have issues.
I remember in the begining...
These Skype ONLY webcams...
Boi oh boi did i get ripped of by Skype Hype
I never liked it and or the idea of it.
Now though, i can accept the idea,
But again. It won't offer canadian numbers
And is an app only call thing. So wifi needed.
Textnow does the same for free. And offers Service providing for around 20~40$ so...
Just sad they also are not in canada yet id pick it up over my landline
But skype to me. Remains just an overhyped brand like facebook.
It was indeed the one that launched the whole crave so ill give it credit to that
I use Skype pretty much every day. When I turn video on, sometimes the voice and movie doesnt come together. Its not always though its frustrating. But I like the message icon. Its so cute.
Signed up for Skype and used it for a few months and it worked well. The nightmare began when I tried to cancel my subscription. You may find this hard to believe but first I had to create an account to close an account. HUH? Anyway, after several attempts over several days I was finally able to chat with customer service. I explained that I wanted to cancel my subscription and guess what... SHE COULDN'T DO IT! She was however, able to direct me to a previously unknown page. I completed the process and now the coup de grace. On a virtually instantaneous internet service with electronic account maintenance it will take 30 DAYS! I guess they just want to get one more monthly payment? UPDATE: I waited the required month and would you believe I was still unable to figure out how to cancel the service. Solution: Cancelled auto-pay with my bank. To Skype I say "Nanny, Nanny Noo Noo!

Just like anything else Microsoft buys, when Microsoft buys it, it turns into absolute crap real quick. If you're gonna use this malware/spyware, I suspect using it on a mac so your chances of getting infected are much more slim.
Skype, you were doing just fine until you partnered up with Microsoft. Now my Skype account that I signed up with through facebook several years ago, no longer works and all my conversations with friends are gone because you require a Microsoft email to sign up. I had to sign up for one just to use Skype.
You're supposed to broaden your platform not narrow it down.
Aside from that, it gets 2 stars instead of 1 just because I been using it for years to keep in touch with family members and loved ones. Skype is a better alternative for this than Facebook because you're just talking to people. Not venting out all your life's problems in a public post. Skype works well with all that.
But now it's time to do away with you, Skype. This is goodbye.
Skype is one of those tech horror stories that you don't really believe until you have tried to use it yourself. Having used it for nearly 8 years, I have seen it go from a promising online communications platform to a platform that has nearly every conceivable problem one could possibly face when using it. The quality of video and audio is all over the place with some cases being a completely pleasant experience while a call with the same person can have major problems causing the call to drop.
The platform is ripe for abuse by spam bots interested in spreading their malicious links to any and all users they are able to find. The number of spam contact requests I get is increasing month after month, making it an unpleasant experience. I dislike getting a ton of requests from users that have images that minors should definitely not be seeing on a platform that doesn't require you to be 18 to use.
The customer service or lack thereof ensures that if you have an issue with billing that you'll be more likely just dealing with it at your bank rather than with their support since their support doesn't actually speak English as the primary language. I understand why companies would outsource a lot of their customer service, but when the agents that you're communicating with actually have no clue what you're talking about despite the fact that you're using their own terminology as found on the Skype website, it creates an incredibly unpleasant experience where you're pretty much guaranteed to not get what you need.
Skype has quite factually sold me a Skype phone number that they did not have the rights to sell me given that it was enabled in my account and I was able to make calls with that as my call back number, but when my aunt tried to call me back from her cell phone, she reached some Todd who had the number for two years through T-Mobile. Skype didn't even know which phone numbers they actually had access to and which ones they didn't.
Ever since Microsoft took over the Skype platform it has been getting worse and worse in almost every single conceivable way whether it be through the Skype application on Windows (I prefer to use the actual program rather than the hilariously unfocused and disorganized Windows app on Windows 10) or the Android application. Even the web-browser version when used on Chrome OS is just terrible in every single way. Adding contacts and not being able to actually explain to them who you are just makes for awkward additions if someone cannot remember who you are from the picture you used which is now low resolution because adding it in the web interface downgrades it for some reason.
Microsoft makes every single effort to make this an unpleasant experience. I wouldn't be surprised if they rebrand the entire thing over the next two years or so because performing even a small amount of research online will show you two things:
1) They are bleeding users as many of their long-term users are switching to competing platforms like Discord
2) No one is having a positive experience.
