Scratch

This computer coding learning program deserves a ZERO. I got from my local library a book entitled "HELP YOUR KIDS WITH COMPUTER CODING" which is based on Scratch 2. I then signed up for an account with Scratch on my computer. But the instructions the book gives are terrible. The illustrations are very inconsistent. In addition, there are problems with the software --- like not being able to delete mistakes, choosing a new sprite only to find that my code has disappeared and I have to start all over again, and being unable to save projects in the offline version. In addition, the Scratch website provides me NO WAY to give feedback to the moderators in asking for help. They have a so-called "discussion forum", but it's junk because of my inability to contact the moderators and ask new questions on that sorry crap that passes for their discussion forum. So from the time I started with Scratch on the afternoon of Saturday, April 6,2024, I lasted only through the afternoon of Sunday, April 7, before finding out that Scratch is no good for the kind of learning I had hoped for. Goodbye, Scratch. You're a major disappointment. You're not worth the headaches.

Never break the community guidelines or even go around them, the Scratch Team have already found out that there are many way to break their guidelines and terrorize innocent kids from learning how to do coding, the website is made for kids and will always be made for kids, be careful on their website as you could get banned or even blocked like me, so don't do it. Scratch is very unfair and not comfortable to use now that the moderation has been completely broken, thanks Scratch Team for blocking me.

I am PaperMarioFan2022 from Scratch leaving a review for you all, I love Paper Mario and a fan of Nintendo, I wanted to use Scratch for coding, and improving my social skills, and I wanted to make new friends too.

Scratch is a great way to start your coding career if you want to start fresh from the beginning, and for fun, but just be careful when you comment, and make sure that projects aren't breaking the guidelines and you'll be fine!:)

They banned me for putting an emoji when it is appropiate and it's a number, how dare they have this moderation, AND they even IP banned me so I cannot login to scratch.

It's free, so I don't hurt a wallet. It's safe, so I can get banned for making inappropriate comments. But, the moderation. It's not a big deal, 4 stars.

I loved using this website to make projects and it's sad that they won't do anything about the moderation. I got banned on scratch for doing things that i guess were kind of bad but definitely weren't bad enough to offend anyone who saw them. I made another account so that i could remix my project and continue working on it. My new account was not verified and i have not shared any projects or commented anywhere, the sole purpose was to work on my project while i was banned. They banned my new account. I appealed saying that i have not and was not planning on breaking the guidelines. I decided i would just wait out the ban on my main account so that i could continue working on my project after i was banned. They deleted the new account. I had spent at least 10 hours in total over the span of 5 days working on my project. To rub salt in my open wound, they also extended my ban to one year and upgraded it to an ip ban. I have no idea what i did to provoke this. They deleted all of my hard work for nothing. I never shared the project or commented anyway so i couldn't of done anything to break the rules. I only use scratch to make projects and now i can't do anything.

Spent lots of my time on a project and the account got deleted and i didn't do anything wrong. I don't think i will ever use scratch again. By the time i'm unbanned i will have a job. Got a one year up ban for making a project where you punch a realistic looking dummy, but it was clearly stated it was a dummy. No blood or violence and the skin was red and made of rubber

I attached an image of the reason i was banned, take a look at them and decide whether this deserved a one year ip ban or not. Keep in mind the top three was literally me just reporting inappropriate projects, i was helping scratch. The person i was reporting kept on posting projects that contained pictures of decapitated heads and cannibalism. The bottom three i commented on my own profile, and then deleted right after. I was just testing the message filter. Nobody could of saw them other than me, and even if they did, they were hardly offensive.

I got block for trying talking about meeting in real life or on a chat site and all I did is add "am (time am)" but I only said the time in my place. It doesn't cares as long as it find something in your comment "inappropriate" and don't look into what the comment actually meant. Also it block me twice for saying something bad in a comment and don't tell me which one or why.

If parents paid attention to what their children were "posting" in chats, maybe the site could be focused on what it was actually intended for like coding

As a former user of Scratch, I wanted to say that the engine of Scratch is pretty amazing, and stuff like Turbowarp that extends on scratch is also pretty neat. The fact that you can create games and such is always a cool thing.

However the moderation is absolutely terrible, I got banned from accidentally doing something and the Scratch Team hasn't responded to me in a YEAR, not to mention that they pretty much ignore the community's requests and they don't actually listen to them because "we know what's best for the site" but no, if they actually knew what was best, they would of changed the moderation and try to at least keep the site running decently. Aside from the moderation, there's times where the site will bug out with projects not loading properly or not even just working, or even the site completely blacking out. Even the fact that they prohibited addons is just really terrible.

Another thing is that the algorithm for the featured projects is also extremely biased, like there's rarely anything unique about the featured projects and only once in a while you'll get something unique, but regardless it's only just generic, low quality platformers and animations.

I mean I love the engine, but I don't really recommend anyone ever joining this site, downlaod Turbowarp instead.

I love scratch since you can make, remix, share and lots more on it, including commenting and replying! Only thing is... Too many bullies and people are destroying this lovely site, and innocent people are being banned for no reason at all. Though, overall, it is the best site EVER. Btw follow me *******@TheManOfTheMan10 :) Usually I find coding with languages hard like C+++, Jave, Python... Scratch is the BEST AND EASIEST CODING LANGUAGE. Go now!

Scratch is a fun site, however it's mostly for younger kids. Anything including horror projects, advertising, and jumpscares will get your project blocked. You will also get banned just for having a collab account, which doesn't make any sense. If you make large projects, I don't reccomend Scratch. It's very slow.

The Scratch Moderate Team is Total Garbage. When I Got ip Banned permanently for first time when they didn't give no explanation why I'm violent their Guideline Which I didn't f$!%ing do nothing as I contract the Scratch Support they didn't responding in three days! Wow this is good starter as my half of important project Empty.

The website itself is very fun. I enjoy making projects in Scratch. I like when people see my projects and follow me. I use Scratch to share stuff with people (mostly projects and comments). However, I don't like the moderation. I was once blocked for 12 hours just for posting the same comment three times, each time on a different account. The Scratch Team will block a project even if it has a very unnoticeable innappropiate thing. I am lucky that I have never been banned, but I have heard stories of scratchers being banned for stupid reasons.
If you create an account to go around a ban, Scratch will track your IP address so that you can't create another Scratch account from your network. I once created a secret account called gy4tt just for fun. However, when I discovered that the Scratch Team can track your IP address, I immediately deleted the gy4tt account, which I created a few days before, because it had a slightly inappropriate name and I feared that the Scratch Team would ban my main account.
Overall, I kinda recommend Scratch, but be very careful.

The Scratch Team are a bunch of $#*!s. They don't even look over reported stuff, they're deleting audio in other peoples projects because they can't afford the space, and they're begging for money. I only still use it because I've made some good friends on it.

They ban people that don't even do anything wrong and we got ip banned. > :( we want a refund its just so bad

The coding on scratch is fun and it is also a nice place to have friends(I have some Scratch friends). But the thing is, it's community guidelines have problems, most you cannot see until you get an unfair message from the Scratch Team. Even more, it's chatbot sometimes mutes you when you said nothing bad. EVEN more, it has some toxic users that never get banned. But no, I am not encouraging you to stay off. I am encouraging you to fight to change Scratch. Together, we can change it for the better!

Why scratch team, you are acting like a psychopath. Scratch, your moderation is worse then roblox right now. I do coding but now you banned me for no reason. Why? Why?! WHY!?!?!?!? I was doing right things until you permanently banned me from scratch. You didn't give me an appeal. And also, you deleted my account after 2 days of what my account got banned. Why scratch, why? I am never coming to scratch ever again.

So i got unbanned on march 31,2022 and then i keep getting false reported. So i created a new account called PinkLemonBackup because my account was banned. Scratch's moderation stinks. Why do they ban people for no reason. I need my account back. Scratch, fix your moderation. I am sick and tired of this. Why did i continue to break their community guidelines. This is getting stupid. And they need to bring back my account and they sent me to jail. I did not do anything wrong.

So yes I advertised on alternative accounts but it's literally the only way to get views on your projects that you work for hours on I broke no rules on my main account it says I 'tried to get around a block' Also I put in a request to unblock my main I contacted them on one of my oldest accounts (because you literally can't do anything when they block you) it's been over a week and all I got is an automated message like I know they're a big company but still other stuff that I've contacted with problems have responded within a 3 day period also they blocked every account with my email because I broke ONE rule which is no spamming but other than all of that it's a good start for young coders and stuff

I can't do this. I loved scratch so much, especially GWDFI [ a studio] but then i get banned for venting? Like, my comment wasn't that bad. I hate scratch so much. Never going back again. It's a waste of time, go use some nice website like code.org. If i could rate it 0 stars I would. Piece of crap. I hate the community so much.

Scratch will remove your project regardless of if it is inappropriate or not if the project gets reported enough times.

Scratch bans and IP bans us for absolutely no reason, and constantly people hacking others and the community has gone to crap. Maybe if the Scratch Team made the moderation team better cuz one i got banned for saying "hi" and "good". Oh and i used the report button on some spam account and i got banned for mass reporting. It's like ST are harassing me. UPDATE: Scratch permanently banned our school, house, 2nd house, library, moms phone, dads phones(YES MULTIPLE PHONES BECAUSE WE HAVE HOTSPOTS), mcdonalds down street, taco bell down street, neighbors phones and wifi, teachers phones, hotel, apartment and diner dowstairs, my phone and VPN locked every single ip address in existence. We did absolutely nothing someone was impersonating me and they even tried to google ban and capcha ban us. We almost threatened to SUE them, I REPEAT, WE WERE VERY CLOSE TO SUEING THEM. THEY MAKE FUN OF US AND IP BAN MY FRIENDS BECAUSE THEY THINK ITS FUNNY. AAAA! I AM SO MAD AT THEM! WISH THEY DIED! AAAAAAAAA HATE THEM SO MUCH. UPDATE: ADDED A VIDEO AND MORE PROOF THAT SCRATCH BANS PEOPLE FOR NO REASON THEY HACKED ALL OF OUR ACCOUNTS AND THEY REPORTED OUR EMAIL TO GOOGLE AND WE LOST OUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT. WE ARE LITTERALY JUST TRYING TO USE THE SITE, DOES SCRATCH NOT LIKE HISPANICS, ARE THEY RACIST? I THINK THEY ARE RACIST THEY DON'T EVEN RESPOND TO OUR APPEALS!
