I went to Beaufort SC for vacation and found this cute little boutique where I purchases some Gullah Butter 8 oz. I had never heard of it and I loved the product so much that when I got home, I called S Milton (owner/operator) if I could order some to be shipped to Maine. She was very nice. I ordered more Gullah Butter in the 12 oz jars.
I was charged for the products and after 3 weeks of not receiving anything I called and she told me she was busy but would ship out the products soon. I did not remind her that you cannot charge for products until they are ship.
Unfortunately, when the order finally came in it was completely wrong. She charged me for 12oz jars but what I received was 4 oz jars (I have photos to prove it) and I ordered some soap and hair product. I only received a partial order but was changed for the full order. I was charged 8.5% sales tax (everything I read SC tax is 6 or 7% depending on what county) and being an out of state order she should have charged me Maine State Sales tax NOT South Carolina. (5.5%).
On top of that the web site states on each item that sales tax is included in the price. I asked her about this and she stated that I did not order online, I ordered by phone…which did not explain the over charge on sales tax.
I requested a partial refund for the over charged and was denied. She also promised for another several weeks to send the rest of the items. I had enough and send back what she did send me and filed a dispute with my credit card company.
Because I filed the dispute, she threatened me with a lawsuit (total charge was $297.00 – no lawyer would waste their time. LOL) then she accused me of being a fraud. Not exactly sure how I was a fraud when I ordered items from a retailer and used a valid credit card? I think Shaquana Milton is the fraud and not a very nice business woman which gives all business women a bad name. She should be ashamed of herself.
