They simply are not competitive in the Online market. Prices are inflated online and the shipping is the worst I've ever seen.
I bought items on November 27 2020 for Christmas gifts and and another order on December 6 2020.
It is Christmas Day and I still don't have all the items from both orders! Who uses Canada Post these days.
I just keep getting updates saying check back later shipping delayed.
I'll never but from the Bay online again.
I had bought something expensive off this site that had shipped from Alberta and the shirt I got had a security tag with ink on it I was very upset because the ppl had one job to do and couldn't do it. I didn't wanna drive all way to a Hudsons bay location just to get a tag removed and I had paid for it online so I dont get how they could forget that. When I asked customer service for a refund or replacement they did not reply and said they could do nothing about it. Worst service ever.
I ordered 2 bras, and received 1. When I called Customer Service I was told that they would need to track with Canada Post. OK, I thought I would receive a refund soon. I stupidly re-ordered the bra from Customer Service, prodding her to have it shipped for free, being that I had already paid shipping, also for the sale price. I did receive that order. Several days later I received an email from HBC stating that my claim could not be honoured. Oh yes, that I was a valued customer. That's bs I called Customer Service back and got absolutely nowhere. It just seems unfair that I ordered and paid for something I did not receive. I'm just thankful it was an inexpensive item. I will not order from HBC online again. I doubt they'll be in business this time next year.
Placed a couple of different orders over the holiday, including about 8 gifts and a Christmas tree (which is beautiful). 8/10 quality, 9/10 shipping, but 3/10 customer service. I still don't have my HBC points for all the purchases.
Tip for consumers:
As long as your purchase goes smoothly, you'll be fine. Just don't hold out much hope for customer service to be helpful as I think their hands are pretty tied.
