I was interested in adopting a dog from this rescue, and even went through with a call with Janet. Everything was going well and she said to call back the next day to set up a meet and greet for the following day. I called the next day and nobody picked up. I called 3 times. I texted her, no response. I texted the shelter, also no response. I would have greatly appreciated it if they had just told me they thought I was not the best fit for this dog. Extremely unprofessional to do what seems to be blocking my number. Super dissatisfied and I feel bad for their animals.

Good Morning, I contacted Homeward Bound Animal "rescue" in Weston, Florida as I was interested in adopting a cat from them. The only way to contact them is via text message. I received a reply immediately that said Janet would contact me. I waited days and never heard from Janet or anyone else at the rescue. I sent another text letting them know that I was still interested and waiting to hear from them but received no reply. After two weeks, I send a text telling them how disappointed I was in their customer service and their rescue practices.

A few days later I received a telephone call from Cheryl, with Homeward Bound. Cheryl never apologized just said that they were busy. Cheryl did an initial telephone screening and told me that I would be a great family to adopt a cat from them. Cheryl then informed me that I would hear from Janet to do a home visit / virtual home visit (we live approximately 1 hour & 45 minutes from Weston, FL).

I waited to hear from Janet and today I received a text from Cheryl telling me that I live too far to adopt from Homeward Bound. Looking at their website again, there is no mention of any maximum distance to adopt. Their delay in contacting me initially and their decision to not let me adopt from them because I live 1 hour and 45 minutes away from them is evidence that they do not have the animals best interest at heart. Especially when they told me that they are busy with new animals and that there was no other interest in the cat that I was interested in, Lilly.

Homeward Bound Animal "Rescue" in Weston, Florida, is a disgrace to the animal rescue organizations of the world.
