I am writing this review in hopes to warn others, if they happen to come across these people like I did. I know this is not a site regarding jobs, but I want to share, just in case. The rest of my experience is pretty basic, I guess, and all I can say is that I got "had." So, last month, I put in for a Data Entry Specialist remote position with Fairytale Photography Studio in Texas. I was so excited and they began by saying they would send me a check in order to perform the tasks because being an assistant was a part of the job description. After a week, they said they would send me another check but I declined, stating that I didn't want the job after all. At that point, I was told to just let them know when I receive it and I said I will send it back. I didn't hear from them for a week and a half when out of nowhere, I get a text message from them with a UPS tracking number. I confirmed that I picked it up from my mailbox and this is where my proof comes in-I am attaching screenshots of the text discussions between us regarding the check.
When I looked at the check, it had a Doctor's name on it from North Carolina but the check itself said that it was from Louisiana. When I Googled the phone number of who I thought was initially the photography business, it was a California number, not a Texas number (and not the same number I initially saw that contacted me) and it went downhill from there. A few search results showed me that the (562) number was actually being abused by an Indian hospital... I also wanted to note that I have contacted the actual Fairytale Photography Studio in Texas by phone and left a message. The url I attached above is the real website and company.
Basically, everyone, we know that times are hard and when we spot or come across scammers or pretenders, we should report them or do something. This is really not okay and I hope that the real company ends up becoming aware of this soon!
