Rented a space from Effra Space Storage because they had the best rates in town. After three months paying I went in to make my next payment and my rent a was almost double than what I signed my contract for. They never notified me. I just found out at the time I went to make my payment. When I asked why they just said there is a rent increase. Looking at reviews they seem to do that to everyone. In my opinion they are nothing but scammers. They pull you in with a low rate and once you move in they know it would be a hardship for most people to find another place and make arrangements for help or have to rent a truck to move back out I think it's a pretty dirty thing to do. I can understand a rent increase of $5 or $10. That's one thing. But to almost double someone's rent to me is wrong. I think they scam you with the low rate to get you in purposely knowing they're going to raise your rent three months later.

All nice when renting the storage space. Boy that was the only time. Would not do ANYTHING else but raise the rent and not care about ANY issues I have. So sad.

If I didn't have 3 units full, I would move my property IMMEDIATELY. They know it is a hassle to move your belongings so they are constantly raising fees. I was told to expect an increase every 6 months. I will NEVER recommend them. Horrible, I've been a customer for 3 years. It was Smart Stop initially.

Cranbury n. J. 1) they refused to reinburse me for time with no access (broken door)
2) there was water damage (rust indicating long term problem)
3) gave them a key for a week to fix internal light but they said no time to repair it
4) water damage was to be fixed but it wasn't
5) didn't offer any help - like offer to switch to another unit
6) called corporate and left message with assdistant but no call back

Seriously I wrote that to them. If you pay on time and don't mind a 20% increase in fee for units then this is your place.
