The EGO string trimmer is powerful and does a good job. This is not the issue. The carbon fiber shaft is supposed to be close to unbreakable. However, because of flawed design - the shaft at the handle, and at the power unit fixture is not reinforced -- it breaks. And when it does, don't go looking for warranty service -- there is none for this defect. After my trimmer dropped from a measured height of less than 4 ft. (43 inches), the shaft broke off right at the handle. The unit was registered and less than a year old. I was informed that there was no warranty service for a broken shaft. Fortunately I was able to make a clean cut, surrendering about 5", and re-insert the shaft, saving the trimmer. Needless to say, I added a protective strip of thin metal to protect against future breaks - who doesn't drop their trimmer from time to time? This product was expensive and the consumer should expect better.

PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE SCAM! This tool costs $190 and there is a very small 30mm screw that holds everything together. Trust me you will obviously end up losing it someday as it is very small and can fall easily. The screw is required to attach the tool with the head using the green knob. So I spent over $2000 buying all sorts of attachments for the multi-head tool, and now I can't use ANYTHING just because I lost a 30mm screw.
I literally spent over 5 hours looking for this screw, IT COSTS $83 TO SHIP 1 SCREW TO CANADA! Why so expensive? Because EGO purposely uses an 8.5mm screw instead of a standard M5 or M8 screw you can easily find a replacement. Nobody uses 8.5mm screws except EGO so you will not find this screw anywhere. The part number is *******001 look it up online if you don't believe me.
$83 for a replacement screw for a $190 tool, we can safely say that it is a huge scam to squeeze more money out of customers who already paid for overpriced Chinese tools. This screw should cost no more than $5 shipped in a standard letter envelope.
So I went on hunting for a replacement part on the EGO Equipment Official Facebook group, asking others for help... Not only the company refused to give me the exact measurements of the screw or where I can buy it, but EGO also went ahead and censored my question by turning off the comments so nobody can reply to help me. What the hell is wrong with this company? I was polite and didn't insult anyone, I was just asking for help. EGO refuses to help AND blocks other customers from helping you. Hey EGO, here in the West we have this thing called Freedom Of Speech, I know you are not familiar with this concept, but maybe you should read the Wikipedia page about the Streisand Effect. Censoring customers is just going to worsen the bad reviews.
