I travelled from Panama to Argentina and arrived 2 hours before luggage check in! I almost missed my flight, but the people working there were really helpful! I´m giving it a 4 star because my luggage had 2 number locks and they were missing! Luckily that was the only thing missing!

This company is Garbage, there are other options, you will regret flying with this company, I booked round trip from Seattle to El Salvador, due to missing my departure, they cancel my returning trip and forced me to rebuy my ticket with over 20 empty seats on the plane, these said it all about this greedy company, over 5 hours flight from el salvador to san francisco and no snack or drinks,.

Hello my name is David Rodriguez on June 29th 2022. I tried to purchased a ticket on Avianca Airlines website. When I presses the purchased button the payment went through but no airline ticket was every purchased but Avianca Airlines debited my funds from my bank account but no ticket reservation. Now they are telling me that it will take 15 to 30 days for my refund. A refund on a Airline ticket that was never issued from Avianca Airlines. Bottom line do not use your debit card.

Is the most horrible company in the world! They no have respect for people! They no have organization at all, they change gates wherever they want, delate fly all the time and in transfer they no wait the others to aboard! I lost 12 hours waiting in the terminal but the most ridiculous they come with 10 dollar voucher to lunch and dinner! Is ridiculous! Please don't fly in this crappie airline never!

I'd give 0 stars if I could. Long story short, this is a horrible airline to work with if you have a family emergency and need to make quick adjustments. I understand you can put things in writing where people purchasing economy airfare relinquish their ability to reschedule their flight without fees, but you'd think that a $422 one-way 6-hour flight pre-purchased 1.5 months ahead of time, made by someone who's flown with you before, who has had a family emergency where their father had a heart attack and is undergoing life-saving surgery, you would morally think charging them $962 dollars in penalties to reschedule their flight to same day is a little heartless and unethical. (Bringing my grand total to $1,384). ESPECIALLY when there were open economy seats available on 3 flights leaving that same day. But no, I have to pay almost $1,000 in fees and penalties to upgrade myself to first class just to be able to change my flight since you treat S and XS ticket holders like trash. Icing on the cake is that you can clearly see on Google flights that it would only cost $600 for a one-way ticket if I'd wait 2 days to fly out.
Their website is not user friendly, the customer hotline was very unhelpful, and I was told the supervisor didn't have time to talk to me or there wasn't one available. My experience was similar when talking to the customer service department at the Managua Airport in Nicaragua and that a manager was unavailable. I was obviously pretty stressed and as a non-native Spanish speaker it was difficult to try and explain my situation in Spanish, but even when a bilingual American tried to help me they still weren't willing to budge. Lastly their staff seems to be completely incompetent telling me I need to pay them $1200, when I can clearly do it online and get a result of $962 (still ridiculous).
I highly recommend you choose another airline instead who would understand an emergency situation like this and not make it about squeezing you for over 300% of your original ticket price for a same-day flight.

The most racist and ignorant airline ever! Incredibly rude, while boarding, they kept asking me if I was Russian or if I was flying there (even though I showed my non-Russian passport and my flight info). They singled me out for additional checks and kept asking me to indicate my whereabouts! Then they asked me to hand them over my passport and took a picture of it and sent it somewhere through WhatsApp! I have no idea who has my data and what will they use it for. No one told me what was wrong, they were just rude and very clearly kept an eye on me as if I were a criminal. I was so scared and the entire experience was traumatising. Afterwards, I kept contacting the airline for an explanation but no response. I have never been treated that badly and would rather take a bus across the continent than fly with them again!

It was the first time I was traveling with this airline and I understand that the cancellation was do to Covid 19 that we were all affected by, but the fact that is not their fault or mine, they refused to give me my money back. They have decide to keep it, I spoke to Monica Rivera and she said it would be a problem because it was nobody fault, but I have to do it online, soI did and I was having problems so I ask for Help and Randy told me that it was not possible to get my $322.89 with a penalty of $300.00?
So they are keeping consumers money just because.

The airline doesn't care about the passenger. All they care is about making money. They won't even refund my flight even my reasons are valid enough. During your flight, all food must be purchase even water. They are cheapskate and will charge you for anything. The cabin crew are not friendly and doesn't even greet you well. They don't care and one of the most unprofessional airline in the world. I hope they get the katma that they deserve. They can have all my money they want for now, but later karma will get them. I believe in karma and I hope I will get justice from them when I get even. Boycott their unreliable brand.

Have flown Avianca numerous times without any trouble at all beyond the usual Avianca annoyances. Hence one star beyond one.
A flight change currently costs a ridiculous USD $300.
However, beware if you ever have to cancel your flight. Make a careful note of every exact date and time you call, the name of the person you spoke to, and of every single transaction you make online; none of this will ever be emailed to you or available to you. Be prepared to call and call and call and have any and every excuse you could possibly ever invent thrown at you, and be prepared to wait a year for your refund. I have gone though countless policy changes that nobody knew about. Just about every time I call I have to wait until mañana, Monday, next month, next year... why? Because my request cannot be processed at this time, because I need to call back <whenever> to speak to a supervisor to see if they can expedite... expedite what? I requested a refund for a cancelled flight eight months ago, why has it not even begun to be processed?
After eight months of this nonsense I was finally informed that my refund was approved and I should see it after the 15th of the next month. Why so long? Avianca has been holding my money for more than eight months and frankly I need that money. Well, I was told, I should be happy because my refund was approved. I still have to wait for more than a month before I can even complain about it again should that be necessary, and at this point I am pretty sure it most probably will be necessary.
I have read some pretty awful reviews about this airline and in all honesty for the most part they've been good enough in my limited experience. My nightmare with Avianca began eight months ago when I cancelled a flight with them instead of paying yet another $300 in change fees - for two change fees I can buy an additional flight, especially with another airline. Now I am dealing with the continued frustration of constant MAÑANA. Avianca is a Colombian airline but if they do business with the rest of the planet they really need a more up-to-date business model. I for one am never flying with Avianca again if I can possibly avoid it.
I wrote the above review in February 2018. It is now May 2018 and I have yet to receive my refund. Upon calling I am told that a special case will be opened on your behalf - I have lost count of how many special cases have been opened. I began sending emails some 4 weeks ago; when I get an email answer they get my name wrong and apologize for the delay, as refunds must be approved by managers. My refund was approved - and authorized - three months ago. Im still waiting. After numerous subsequent emails I was provided with an additional email address. Have not heard anything. I am now writing 2-3 emails a day demanding an update on the status of my refund. Its been almost a year now. They have more than USD $720 of my money.
July 2018: after more countless emails to Avianca's Refund Central Department and three other avianca.com email addresses where I was given every runaround and excuse under the sun, I finally received a check for less than half the amount that was owed to me. In June all information pertaining to my refund had completely disappeared from Avianca's website; it didn't occur to me that this was possible so I hadn't printed it.
During this whole ordeal I heard from various friends and family members who have been egregiously screwed over by Avianca in numerous ways over more than 50 years.
Needless to say I am never using this airline again.

Tip for consumers:
If you cancel a flight, you will be instructed by a customer service rep to do it online. You will get absolutely no record of this request, so make sure you note the instructing CSR’s name and the exact date and time of your online cancellation, because you will need this information, if only to counter whatever they try to tell you you didn’t do. Note date, time, and name of any and all other phone calls made to Avianca. Chances are you won’t need it but it can be useful.

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THEY ARE STEALING 4000 FROM ME. I AM LOOKING FOR MORE LAWYERS AT THIS MOMENT. THEY ASKED ME IF I WANT A REFUND I HAVE TO SUBMIT THE SOCIAL, ADDRESS, BANCK ACCOUNTS. PHONE NUMBER, EMAIL ADDRESS AND I REFUSED TO DO SO. THEY ARE FROM OVERSEAS, I PAID WITH CREDIT CARDS WHY THEY WANT MY PRIVATE INFORMATION. THIS AVIANCA IS UP TO SOMETHING. I AM SO MAD. THEY DID NOT LET MY BROTHER AND HIS SON FLIGHT TO ECUADOR. I CALLED THIS PEOPLE SO MANY TIMES AND NOW THEY DO OT EVEN ANSWER THE PHONE THEY TOLD ME THE LAST TIME, DO THE REFUND COMPLAINT VIA EMAIL. I HAVE SENT MANY AND NOBODY ANSWERED BACK SO. I ALREADY COMPLAINT TO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND I TALKED TO A LAWYER TOO AND LOOKING FOR MORE LAWYERS. SOMEONE HAS TO DO SOMETHING. I WILL FIGHT BACK UNTIL THEY GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. THIEVES. IF ANYBODY WANTS TO GET TOGETHER TO FIGHT BACK. LET ME KNOW.

Avianca is by far the WORST airline to do business with. I am shocked at the HORRIBLE level of service that was provided not once, but buy 4 different agents. Not only did all agents place us on hold for an hour at a time to be provided no resolutions, but also that when a customer is adamant and wants to speak to the supervisor the supervisor REFUSES to take customer calls from their agents. What kind of business is this? How can company's SUPERVISORS push back on their agents and refuse to take CUSTOMER CALLS. Ever single time they placed us on hold they "swore" they were talking to their "supervisor" but never provided updates they would hang up after one hour. The final agent we spoke to also placed us on hold and when he came back with again no resolution other than pay $480 for THEIR mistake (indicating to us they will keep the ticket "open"), but after we told him the previous agent had us on hold for one hour. The other agent goes (in exact words) "It's whatever". Avianca are you kidding me? "It's whatever". These are the agents you hire and that you allow to speak to your customer to represent your company? We have flown Avianca several times, but this will be our last. I will ensure I advice my family and friends and their friends and so one to NEVER fly with such an j professional, poor, and no class having airline. Avianca get your mess together and do better because you just lost business from not only my husband and I but from several other people who we will advise and those that will read this post.
**Buyer Beware** save your money and fly with another airline who actually values their loyal customers.

Variety of destinations, I use it enough to travel to Colombia, outputs on time, good flight crews, comfortable and on time. I make reservations without problems and I have not had problems with my card.
