Great concept BUT...
I have tried to make thredUp work for years because I love the idea and the concept. Each time I tried there was a stumbling point or road block that discouraged me from continuing that effort. Once again, and I think the third time charm thing might apply in this case, they have made it abundantly obvious that they are not interested in my business.
When I ordered my first bag I eagerly filled it to the brim with well maintained, brand named items. It took over six months for them to get posted and then when they finally sold I made a couple dollars for each item. I realized that it made much more sense to share my items with our local thrift store who benefit local charities.
Second time, I was looking for a specific dress that I had fallen in love with and hoped to find it there. No luck, but in my search I found a couple other cute items so I thought...it's been a while, maybe they have gotten past their initial growing pains. Sadly, not the case, what a shame!
Most recently I came across an old bag that I had ordered during round #2. Started filling it up, shipped it off before realizing I had more clothes to add. No problem, I thought, I'll just put in a request for another bag. It is at this point that I discovered that they had begun charging a $16 handling fee for each bag ordered. Add that expense onto the "whopping payout" I was getting for the items that they were selling and...I learned my lesson.
I am sad to say that what seemed like a great concept has proven to be very disappointing. There are many other options out there, choose them and not this one.
